Sources in Israel have accused Hamas of violating the terms of the truce deal by releasing a child without her mother.

Hila Rotem, 12, was freed tonight but her mother, Raya Rotem, 54, remains a hostage in Gaza.

Israeli sources say that this discrepancy was one of the sticking points during the delays and disagreements earlier today.

I think that answers the question of whether these are professional protesters, or people who read the news and understand what is happening in Gaza. These protesters seem to be nothing more than the common angry, bored trouble makers who glue themselves to roads for oil, topple statues for BLM, and demand ceasefire during a ceasefire.
Indeed, these are people who read the news and understand what is happening in Gaza.

Netanyahu Will Press Ahead With War After Cease-Fire Ends

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel and Hamas agreed to a four-day cease-fire in the war in Gaza — a diplomatic breakthrough that will free dozens of hostages held by militants as well as Palestinians imprisoned in Israel, and bring a large influx of aid to the besieged territory.
The truce announced Wednesday raised hopes of eventually winding down the war, which was triggered by Hamas’ Oct. 7 rampage into Israel. Now in its seventh week, the war has leveled vast swaths of Gaza, fueled a surge of violence in the occupied West Bank, and stirred fears of a wider conflagration across the Middle East.

But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said late Wednesday he told U.S. President Joe Biden that he will press ahead with Israel’s war after a temporary cease-fire expires. Netanyahu said at a news conference he delivered the message to Biden in a phone call on Wednesday.

“I want to be clear. The war is continuing. The war is continuing. We will continue it until we achieve all our goals,” Netanyahu said.

My goodness I'm so happy. This man broke my heart. Imo, I heard reports her leg was injured.

Emily Hand has been emblematic of the terrible ordeal the hostages and their families have faced.

The nine-year-old Irish-Israeli girl held without any of her family with her.
Her dad Thomas Hand spoke at a press conference in London on Monday, sobbing as he said he was sure his daughter would be asking every day: "Where's my daddy, why didn't he come to save me?"

Thomas didn’t give up his campaigning, flying around the world with his message that Emily must be freed. He had originally been told she had been killed and said he was at least pleased she wasn’t being held in Gaza. But then he was told she was a hostage and he said getting her back was now his reason for living.

She turned nine while being held by Hamas so she will now finally be able to celebrate her birthday with her dad.

He said he realised it would take a long time to fix the mental trauma his little girl will have suffered.

We also know that the ceasefire will be extended another day for each 10 hostages that are released. That's another 15 days of ceasefire. There will be a permanent ceasefire if the Hamas government hands over all of the Hamas terrorists that have controlled Mosques, schools, hospitals, clinics, water, electricity, food and infrastructure.

The only party that wants to continue fighting is Hamas. The entire war ends when terrorist murderers are handed over to Israel for prosecution.

I like how Hamas gets to pick and choose which parts of the "agreement" they will honor, but fully expects Israel to uphold their end, regardless...

Representatives from the @ICRC just transferred 17 hostages via Egypt, including 13 Israeli and 4 Thai hostages, to ISA and IDF Special Forces, as they make their way to Israeli hospitals, where they will be reunited with their families.

We have been preparing to welcome our people home and accompany them and their families.

We remain determined to return all of our hostages home.

The Taoiseach (Irish PM), Leo Varadkar, has said a nation's prayers were answered as it was announced that nine-year-old Irish-Israeli girl Emily Hand had been released from captivity in Gaza.

"An innocent child who was lost has now been found and returned, and our country breathes a massive sigh of relief. Our prayers have been answered," he said.

"A little girl was snatched from her home and held captive for almost seven weeks. She spent her ninth birthday as a hostage. We hope she will soon heal and recover from the traumatic experience in the loving embrace of her family.

"For her family, these seven weeks have been a slow and cruel torture," Mr Varadkar said.

"Painful grief mixed with relief" was transformed into an ember of hope when it emerged that Emily Hand was still alive in Gaza and was used by her father, Tom, and half-sister, Natali, to "campaign tirelessly" for Emily's release, the Taoiseach said.

"When I met Tom and Natali in Dublin, their pain was etched on their faces, but so was their courage and determination to ensure that Emily would be freed. I shared their grief and was inspired by their example. Irish people everywhere share in the relief of Emily's family," Mr Varadkar said.

"Emily now returns to her family, but we cannot forget that many more hostages remain in captivity in Gaza. Their fate is unknown, but we hope that like Emily, they will also be allowed to return to their homes and their families.

"We think of all the families suffering in this troubled region, and we redouble our efforts to work for a permanent ceasefire, and for a just a lasting peace," the Taoiseach said.

The Tánaiste (Irish deputy PM) and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Micheál Martin, has welcomed the release of Emily Hand from captivity in Gaza.

In a statement, Mr Martin said that this is a "precious and deeply moving moment for the Hand family."

"The people of Ireland have been touched by Emily's story, her innocence and the quiet dignity and determination of her father, Tom," he said.

The Tánaiste said he had the opportunity to meet with Emily's father, Tom, before travelling to the Middle East recently and "was struck by the strength and resilience with which he advocated for his daughter's release."

"This is a message that I and my colleagues in government sought to amplify as we engaged internationally, through political, diplomatic and security channels, in a bid to secure Emily's safe return," he said.

"I want to acknowledge the role played by the US, Qatar, Egypt and others that have been involved in securing the release of the hostages.

"I am conscious today that many more hostages remain in the hands of Hamas. I reiterate my call that all hostages in Gaza should be released immediately and unconditionally," Mr Martin said.
