With coming ground operation in South Gaza and the rubble of Northern part,
I have a question:

Where is the civilian population of nearly 2 million people going to find shelter now?

Winter is coming.
What about medical service?

What is the plan?

Does anybody know?

Are they going to stay in the southern part with battles in the north?

And then evacuate to the northern part with battles in the south?

And live in ruins?

Wouldn’t be amazing if politicians around the world were concerned and discussing this right now?

More evidence that fundamental changes are needed in Israel in regards to Palestinians. Israeli law allows for people to be detained indefinetly with out charges.

Make me wonder if Israel also kidnaps and also takes hostages- well, "In Spirit and in Truth". Israel clearly does not take hostages according to the letter of Israeli law- wink, nod.

One famous Israeli scholar, however advocated going meaning- beyond letter of the law type considerations. It might be time to listen to him via reforms. He seemed to know a lot about human relations.

I dont expect that Israel match the US law requiring charges in 72 hours or release. The Netherlands (also a real democracy) allows for 30 days of detention with out charges before mandatory release is required.

Israel faces real threats. I could support say, 3-4 months of detention with out charges. But, held indefintely with out charges? Something seems strange- like say, finding "abandoned" land.

UNICEF spokesperson James Elder spoke to BBC's Newshour about the devastation he has observed in Gaza as his convoy delivers desperately-needed supplies during the truce.

"I spend my days in centres where tens of thousands of people have been displaced. The wounds of war on children are scarring and jarring.

Yesterday I went up north with a convoy of absolutely critical aid. The places, the buildings, people's faces, are just riddled with distress and trauma, whether it's just the broken concrete and the devastation, or the anxiety of people who have lost everything," he said.

He added that many Gazans are still moving southward, as per the evacuation directive, although they don't know their destination.

"They do not have anywhere safe to go," Elder said.

was there any rhyme or reason as to whom they killed and whom they took as hostages? ..or is it part of the terror that it was just random? I did see that at least a few young girls were released (15-16 yr olds). I have also seen pictures and the hostages look "OK" but I am not sure if those are older photos that are in the news. I know that the IDF expected the hostages to be starving and/or tortured....there were articles about re-feeding.

I'm sure they thought IDF would show up at any minute and were probably surprised that they got through the border. They are full of rage and hate. I saw a documentary called Gaza and the hate was very real. I could feel it. (Documentary is free to watch on Tubi. It shows everyday life in Gaza.) They went on a rampage. I think everyone was fair game. Of course they will go after the most vulnerable. Women and children. Sex crimes are often a form of hate crimes.

Aunt says Hamas forced 12-year-old hostage to watch videos of atrocities, aimed gun at him when he cried​

The aunt of Eitan Yahalomi, 12, who was released from Gaza captivity last night, tells French TV that terrorists forced him to watch videos of the atrocities they carried out on October 7.

She also says that any time a child in captivity cried “they threatened them with rifles to shut them up.”

Speaking to BFM, Devora Cohen says that “the Hamas terrorists forced him to watch films of the horrors, the kind that no one wants to see, they forced him to watch them.”

She says the Hamas members were “monsters.”

“When he arrived in Gaza, all the residents, everyone, beat him. He is a 12-year-old child,” she says.

Thomas Hand, the father of nine-year-old Emily who was released from Hamas captivity, says she thought she had been held hostage for a year and now cries herself to sleep.

Speaking to CNN, Hand says his daughter’s recovery will be slow.

“It was only when she stepped back that I could see her face was chiseled, like mine, whereas before it was chubby, girly, a young kid face.”

“The most shocking, disturbing part of meeting her was she was just whispering, you couldn’t hear her. I had to put my ear on her lips,” he says. “She’d been conditioned not to make any noise.”

He says he asked her how long she thought she had been a hostage and she replied “a year.”

Israeli troops in northern Gaza targeted with bombs, in apparent breach of truce​

The Israel Defense Forces says a number of soldiers are lightly hurt after being attacked by Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip, in what appears to be the first serious violation of the ceasefire. Hamas accuses the IDF of violating the ceasefire first.

According to the IDF, three explosive devices were detonated near forces at two separate locations in the northern Gaza Strip, “in violation of the truce agreements.”

The army says that in one of the incidents, gunfire was also directed at troops, who returned fire.

“In both cases, the IDF forces were within the agreed-upon ceasefire lines,” it adds.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed on Tuesday the death of hostage Ravid Katz, who was taken captive from Israel during the Hamas attack on October 7.

It is the third time the IDF has confirmed the death of an October 7 hostage in Gaza, after Noa Marciano and Yehudit Weiss.

The IDF says Katz’s body is being held by Hamas in Gaza. It is not clear if he died in Gaza or if he was killed in Israel and his body was brought to Gaza.

Katz was taken from Kibbutz Nir Oz. He is the brother of Doron Katz Asher, a hostage who was freed Friday.

Relatives of 10-month-old baby taken hostage say he isn't on Tuesday's release list​

The youngest Israeli hostage, 10-month-old Kfir Bibas, and his family are not on the latest list of people to be released from Gaza, relatives of the family said Tuesday.

Kfir’s parents Yarden and Shiri, and his brother, Ariel, 4, were taken hostage from Israel on October 7. The video that was released of Shiri and her two children from Gaza on October 7 was one of the first videos of hostages in Gaza.

Yarden’s sister, Ofri Bibas, said Tuesday that the boys’ father was hit by a hammer on October 7, with no further information available on his current condition or whereabouts.

Yarden's cousin, Eylon Keshet, who also spoke on the call, said relatives believe Yarden was separated from his wife and children, based on videos that they have seen. Keshet said the family is not believed to be held together.

Ofri Bibas expressed her concerns for the two children, saying:

“Every day there is a danger to their lives, and they must be released as soon as possible.”

She said she is worried that the 10-month-old baby does not have access to formula.

Keshet also said that Ariel Bibas has several medical conditions.

A Gazan worker USA TODAY met in the West Bank last month said that he was not able to return home because Hamas officials were trying to extort money from him.

Halevi: IDF ready to resume fighting now, using truce to beef up readiness​
