Red Cross has transferred the 12 hostages to Egypt, IDF says

From CNN's Michael Callahan

The Red Cross transferred 12 released hostages at the Rafa crossing into Egypt on Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.

This is the first transfer since the Israel-Hamas truce was extended.

The hostages will meet with the Israeli military at Kerem Shalom.

The families of those released are currently being notified by the military, the IDF said.

I'm surprised the dog was returned. I really am.
Not only does Islam considers dogs to be unclean, the pup would need to be routinely taken outside to do its duty.
I'm glad it's been returned.
I have seen a few stray dogs running through the ruins (not working or out for a comfort stop military ones) in background shots.

Maybe the Palestinian people of Gaza are more westernised than we give them credit for being.

Wish i could read your 'most important 'post, maybe some of the info. is also contained within article below?

''JTA — Nearly 50 days after Hamas’s brutal massacres in Israel left some 1,200 dead and over 240 kidnapped, and after weeks of criticism over its silence about evidence of sexual violence during the attack, the women’s rights group UN Women issued a statement condemning the terror group on Friday.

Then it deleted the post.

“We condemn the brutal attacks by Hamas on October 7 and continue to call for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages,” read the initial statement, posted on UN Women’s Instagram page. It was soon replaced with a statement that dropped the condemnation of Hamas and only called for the release of the hostages.''

''Some of the critics — including Israel’s First Lady Michal Herzog and Sheryl Sandberg, a former top Meta executive — have lobbied openly on the topic. Many have used the hashtag “#MeToo_UNless_UR_A_Jew.”

''On Monday, the Knesset held a session on crimes against humanity committed against women during the assault.

After an initial statement on October 13 condemning the attacks on civilians in Israel, all of UN Women’s public comments about the war and its impact on women had centered only on Palestinians.''

Good to see Sheryl Sandberg speaking out against UN Women organization and the Me, Too movement on behalf of Jewish women raped and tortured and murdered on October 7th by Hamas terrorists.

Shame on UN Women. We need to contact our Congressional leaders and tell them to stop funding them!!

Dozens of senators view harrowing video of Hamas attack on Israel

"We saw terrorists celebrating as they murdered children as they murdered women, as they desecrated the bodies," Cruz said. "We saw them beheading bodies with knives, we heard audio of terrorists calling their parents, celebrating the people they murdered. There is a level of evil and hate and depravity that defies words, and it is astonishing that there are still some in America and across the globe who deny these atrocities occurred."

“It’s important to bear witness in real time,” Rosen told a small group of reporters outside the viewing, “Sometime in the future, we’ll go, there’ll be a museum, they’ll be a memorial, there’ll be another Yad Vashem or Holocaust Museum. Just like we do and we honor those who’ve died, whether it’s in war or conflict or from terror, but by then it will be sanitized and memories will be longer gone. It’s important that we see it now in real time because Hamas has vowed to repeat this day over and over, over and over, and there were over 1,000 people massacred."

Rubio echoed Rosen, saying Tuesday, "I think it’s really important not to sanitize this over time. These horrifying incidents sort of lose their impact because for whatever reason — it was important, you know, other members who wanted to see it got clearer insight into what happened on that day and who we’re dealing with. And you know, what’s stunning about it is the glee and the joy and the pride that the people involved in these horrifying crimes took in what they were doing."

I am too. I also wondered what the dog ate? Probably rice like the hostages?

Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad had to actually Protect the 12 Hostages who were Released tonight to the Red Cross, as the Crowds of Palestinians were claimed to be attempting to Kill them; this caused the Location of the Exchange to have be changed multiple times.

And the female soldiers who gave a warning complained they were threatened with court martial, no?

How strange o_O

This may jeopardize future hostage exchanges. We certainly cannot engage in release of hostages, only to have them murdered or recaptured along with IRC.

Is this a representation of the people of Gaza?
Moo...

We have seen the devastation; he himself was injured when the building he was in collapsed burying him under rubble and one wonders how many others who were in it did not survive or were unable to dig themselves out.

He wandered around lost in a war zone and was possibly very, very lucky not to stumble towards armed soldiers of either side, who probably wouldn't have waited for a formal introduction before blasting him to shreds.

The Palestinian civilians were also in a war zone and under fire and bombardment. Accompanied by them he would have been as safe as they were which means he was in a perilous situation.

What to do with him
  • kill him?
  • leave him wandering around suffering from a head wound they had no means of getting medical attention for, disoriented, under fire in a war zone where he would likely end up as collateral damage as had happened to so many others
  • or hand him over to Hamas who were on the ground
In the event the handover very likely saved his life as the civilians could do as much for him as they could do for themselves which was precisely nothing.

To underestimate the logistics faced by civilians in their situation amongst the devastation of targeted bombardment fails to address the bigger picture.

My opinion

I doubt their actions were benign. Those who betrayed him probably were paid for it and received some reward. They didn't treat his head wound, take him to a hospital, but handed him over to terrorists and knew what his likely fate would be.

Mia at 17 is classed as a child.
Many of the Palestinians released in the exchange were much younger than that when convicted by the military court system.
Indeed some were younger.

Mia, at 17, committed the sole crime of being Jewish and living in Israel - enjoying what should have been a peaceful Saturday morning.

Many of those younger age 'children' than her who have been released were convicted of things like attempted murder, laying of bombs etc etc.

Sorry, but age has no bearing upon one's propensity to commit crimes for which one may find themself charged with, convicted of or imprisoned for.

It takes a village to raise a child; a village consisting of good and appropriate education curricula where reading comprehension and math problems don't focus on killing Jews, etc, where parents have responsibility enough to ensure their 'child' never even has opportunity to learn how to lay a bomb or to contrust and explosive device, where hatred is not taughts in schools, homes and in the streets.

If one of my own children EVER attempted to do such a thing, I'm the one calling the authorities to turn their butt in.

See something, hear something, say something.

Silence and 'excusals' of those factors is not going to make anything better or serve to bring peace to the ME.

So he was released back to Gaza.. seems he didn't want to go there. Wonder why that is? Wonder how HAMAS feels seeing he didn't want to be released?
