Yeah, they want "their army"...
Forget that...(Well, that's my opinion and I doubt if anyone involved in this war cares about my opinion)
We do. :)

They took responsibility for the terror attack in Jerusalem this morning, released a statement that 10/7 was just a practice run, refused to supply list of hostages for release and then fired rockets on two Israeli towns. IMO There was no intention to continue with the ceasefire even if they had every hostage in front of them.
Sadly, I think Hamas is done "playing nice"...

I won't pretend to know much about the situation in Ireland or how it is similar or different to what is going on with Israel and HAMAS so I will just comment on what I know of Israel/HAMAS and I will commit to study a bit about Ireland.

I see Sinwar like Bin Laden. This isn't a man that has waged war FOR his people.. he waged war to eradicate an entire population of people. Bin Laden wanted to see death to America and I am sure many other people/places. Negotiating peace with a person or group that at their core does not want peace is just asking for more war and death down the road.

When Israel removes HAMAS from GAZA, then and only then do I think Palestinians can elect someone to negotiate for them with Israel and maybe then peace can have a real chance of happening.

There is a lot of presumption there ... that Sinwar does not want a peaceful existence, eventually. That Sinwar can be happy with the restrictions thrust upon the Palestinians. For example.

None of us knows, and none of us can see because the situation is so volatile now. On both sides.

Israel's apparent solution is to assassinate Sinwar. Eradicate the people.

How about try talking with each other? What harm can that do? Maybe if they see each other as humans, and not as "animals" and "imprisoners" they can work out a way to fairly share the land without killing each other.

imo

ATF, FBI, and APD on scene of an incident outside the Israeli Consulate General building in Atlanta, Georgia, that has left two people injured. Burnt items are seen at the scene. Circumstances unclear as of now.

Stagnation, intelligence failure…call it what you will. Nothing erases Hamas’s culpability in the massacre of 10/7. Hamas are the only ones to blame for the rape, brutality, barbarism against innocent civilians asleep in their beds.
Absolutely. But, and I shouldn’t delve into politics deeply, but I remember how Netanyyahu was chastising Obama during the visit to the US. Chastising my President… Thank god Obama has a really easygoing personality, but that behavior was boorish to say the least. And in general, how many years Bibi can be in power?

It does not absolve Israel from firing missiles on civilians and CHILDREN.
This is a war. That's what happens in war. Israel did not want this war nor did they start this war.

You cannot send 2 thousand armed invaders into another country, enter their homes at sunrise and rape, brutalise, kill and kidnap their citizens, and not expect a violent retaliation.

Hamas went way too far and there is no coming back. Israel cannot ignore what happened. They are doing the best they can do but Hamas forces their hand by placing their munitions and terrorist headquarters underneath schools, hospitals and apartment buildings.

Hamas is using their own people as shields. That is not Israel's fault. These deaths are on Hamas. They purposely went way past the line in this massacre--including torture and killing babies and filming atrocities and sending the films to Israeli families to horrify and terrify them.

Many of the people in Gaza were supporting Hamas in these attacks on Jews. They hate Jewish people and celebrate their deaths. So what is Israel supposed to do after they were invaded by Hamas? They cannot just pretend it won't happen again.

What a pity they were not so busy before the attack

I agree, but it's "water under the bridge", now. Now they have to try and make amends. jmo

I just want to point out that Northern Gaza's power comes via fuel (generators or otherwise).

I noticed in all the footage of the soon-to-be-released hostages that during the handovers in northern Gaza the past two days the Palestinian onlookers certainly seemed to have access to fuel/power to charge up all those cell phones etc.

So they've at least got 'some' of that humanitarian fuel delivery. That should have been taken as a sign that Hamas has completed it's own replenishment ... that the innocent Gazans doing the filming now had access to fuel/power to reharge phones.
Those cell phones (that  everyone seems to have) must be "government issue", as we've been told the unemployment rate in Gaza is so high. jmo

I'm guessing that the hostages were split into small groups that fell under the leadership of some more-senior Hamas terrorists. As some of the released hostages have spoken of being with specific people.

Some are/were in tunnels, some not. Some had one pita bread between 4 people, some had more food (have yet to read of anyone having fresh fruit or veg), and probably some suffered more brutality in captivity than others. Depending on the personality and resources of the leader in charge of them.

imo
Absolutely agree.

No matter how hard people try to blame Israel's admitted intelligence failures, it was Hamas terrorists who targetted, found, beat, terrified, raped, tortured and executed innocent civilians on 7 October 2023. They are the ones who pulled the triggers. They are the ones who massacred them.

Hamas is proud to wear that blood. And it is theirs to wear.

Imagine: I failed to lock my front door last night, even though I know bad people exist in the world. The fact a murderer entered my home and killed me is my fault. NO; it is NOT. To state anything different is simply victim blaming and, in this case, is just another attempt for those of that mind to "blame Israel for the other side can do no wrong".

The blame is on HAMAS. But, had Israeli intelligence worked better, fewer Israeli people would be held captives now. And then, there is certain regulation, all these things happen in Autumn. Lots of religious holidays in Israel during this time. How many times does it need to happen to understand that people have to be on high alert during autumn season?

There is one big problem with the above---although I do agree with and appreciate your sentiments for peaceful negotiations.

The problem now is that Sinwar spent the past 2 years in secret but insincere peace negotiations with Bibi. He did so to lull Bibi into the false belief that Hamas was wanting to come to a treaty of some kind for future solution.

All that phoney negotiations were going on while Sinwar was actually setting up for his massive Massacre last October.

So IMO< there is no possibility that Bibi will ever negotiate with Sinwar again.

That's all true---Israeli intelligence messed up. Big time.

I think it's like President Bush and his intelligence failure before 9/11. How did we miss that?

We knew there would be another plane hijacking attempt, no doubt. But did anyone imagine there'd be such a complex conspiracy to simultaneously hijack several planes, fly them into the World Towers, and the pilots were already training in our flight schools?

As long as Breżniew? :D
Ha. Two very different personalities. Bibi, a mercurial choleric, and “Lenya”, a practical sanguine type. And, after that many years, the moment he died, all deteriorated very quickly.

Sorry to reply to my own post, but zoom on the image. There are areas where the numbers completely overlap each other and are completely indecipherable.

That map  is a bit messy. Hopefully in family units, there'll be someone with good eyesight to decipher it...jmo
