8 weeks ago today, over 1,000 of our loved ones were murdered by Hamas terrorists.

Israeli woman and girls were brutally raped and tortured.

Children and Holocaust survivors were kidnapped to Gaza.

Shabbat has never been the same since then.

Israel ישראל on X

''Israel has recalled its team of negotiators from Qatar after reaching a “dead end” in talks, according to a statement released by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.

''The negotiators were from Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency and the statement said it was the head of the agency, David Barnea, who recalled the team.''

''The seven-day Israel-Hamas truce ended on Friday after negotiations reached an impasse and Israel accused the Palestinian militant group of violating the agreement by firing at Israel.
What happens next is unclear. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this week vowed that Israel would fight until the end. His government had informed the United States before the truce ended that it intended eventually to turn its focus on the southern part of the enclave after fighting resumed.
Washington, however, has made it clear to Israel that scale of devastation should not be repeated.
Analysts say the war is bound to continue until Hamas is crushed, and it may be much fiercer this time.
It is unclear if there will be another truce, but with more than 100 hostages still in Hamas captivity, it could theoretically be revived for several days if both parties agree to extend by one day for every 10 hostages released, analysts said.''
IMO They didn’t fulfill the hostage release deal because the hostages still in captivity were so terribly abused. The women were probably raped like the women were on 10/7. The men probably beaten and brutalized like the men were on 10/7. Hamas doesn’t want to lose the support of the people who are falling for their propaganda.

Not the first time we’ve seen in recent days reporters of Qatari State television (Al Jazeera) trying to cut off Gazans criticizing Hamas and Qatar. It’s still anecdotal but the fact that they’re speaking out openly does indicate Hamas’ control starting to erode in Gaza

Polish-Israeli historian Alex Dancyg (75 year old) is still a hostage.
He sent a message to his family through a freed hostage (I wrote about it upthread).
He was OK, not abused.
He was even given medicines.
He gave historic lectures to other hostages.

Too funny, must still need the work. Sorry never worked with me.

Lol, I was actually saying wow about Mia’s dog, I had skipped right over the Susan Sarandon part. I corrected my post with an Rsbm. :)

“More information about how a 17-year-old Hamas hostage was able to keep her beloved dog with her in captivity is emerging. Mia Leimberg told relatives that when she was kidnapped, Hamas at first thought she was carrying a doll. Her dog, Bella, survived because Leimberg shared food scraps with her. Her beloved dog apparently remained silent, never barking nor drawing attention.” / source

Qualified to carry out terrorist attacks and deliver the kidnapped to the Red Cross: the women of Hamas

They appear in the propaganda videos in which the terrorist organization records the release of its hostages, learn to launch missiles and practice using weapons and placing explosive charges: "The Muslim Brotherhood makes sure that they are the second hand." These are the "daughters of Hamas

Interesting though.
If the footage was being suppressed - why on earth wasn't it edited before broadcasting?

Returned captives, hostage families demand meeting with Netanyahu as truce ends

[...]

“The end of the ceasefire and the return to fighting obliges an immediate update be given to the families of the hostages,” the forum says. “The hostages that returned demand to meet this evening with the prime minister and members of the war cabinet, together with all the families of those who remain hostage.”

Every days could be the last day, we cannot leave them there,” the statement says.

Over the week-long truce, 105 civilians were released from Hamas captivity in Gaza: 81 Israelis, 23 Thai nationals and one Filipino.

Several of those freed have husbands and fathers still held in Gaza.

Still held hostage by Gaza terror groups when the truce collapsed were 136 people — 114 men, 20 women and two children. Ten of the hostages are 75 and older. The vast majority of the hostages, 125, are Israeli. Eleven are foreign nationals, including eight from Thailand.

The displacing and historical land issues are political things that both sides have fought over for decades. It does not give someone a right to kill babies in their cribs and gang rape the mothers and daughters.

Israel was gifted the land after the holocaust. I think their loss of 6 million murdered people should give them the right to build their homeland with out neighbouring people hounding them and threatening them. They should all just learn to live in peace.

On your first paragraph: Amen to that, but it goes both ways. It didn't give Israel the right to kill the daughters of Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, but Israel did. Izzeldin Abuelaish - Wikipedia This is just one example that comes to mind since I read Dr. Abuelaish's memoir I Shall Not Hate a good number of years ago. I re-read it at the beginning of this war too. It's a good insight into the situation as seen by one educated Palestinian family.

On your second paragraph: it's probably easier to say this when you're not part of the neighbouring people! I'm not part of the neighbouring people either. But just imagine a people moves into your state or country and the UN says 'budge up everybody'. I can't think of anywhere where that will go down well.

I don't know what the answer is in this war, apart from an immediate cease-fire again. But then?

Doesn't surprise me. Al Jazeera English is the only English-speaking media that has exclusive access to Gaza. Their reporters in Gaza live in Gaza and are from Gaza.

I would not be surprised if that access comes with censorship. AJ is well funded and they have elaborate transmission via satellite. So they are still on when the power and internet is off over the rest of Gaza. (Although they have much less live programming during those times)

They still won't retract the story about the misfired rocket that hit the hospital on Oct 17th. Having exclusive access means that I watch them, because no one else is there.

.@AFP, during such sensitive times where 137 Israelis are being held hostage by terrorists in Gaza, the least you can do as a news agency is report the facts. So here they are:

• Hamas refused to release the number of hostages they promised in the agreement framework.
• Hamas refused to release women and children.
• Hamas fired rockets at Israel.

@AFF, still confused?

FM Cohen calls on UN Women chief to quit after taking 57 days to condemn Hamas assault

[...]

“The behavior of UN Women since the massacre on October 7 has been shameful,” Cohen writes.

“Their statement is tepid and late, coming after nearly two months of silence and turning a blind eye to war crimes, crimes against humanity, and sexual crimes committed by the Hamas terror group,” he says.

UN Women issued a statement earlier condemning the Hamas terror group, 57 days after some 1,200 were killed — mostly civilians — and over 240 kidnapped in the brutal Hamas-led October 7 massacres in southern Israel, and amid weeks of criticism over its silence about evidence of sexual violence during the attack.

The UN Women statement led with “regret” that fighting had resumed between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, after a seven-day truce which saw 105 civilian hostages released from Gaza in exchange for 210 Palestinian prisoners.

[...]

It then went on to laud the UN Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, for “opening its call for submissions on gender-based crimes since October 7.”

Cohen slammed this decision too, saying that an investigation into the crimes should be carried out by a neutral body, not “Israel-haters and antisemites.”
