Top US official says developments on Israel-Lebanon border are worrisome

The White House are watching developments happening on the Israel-Lebanon border closely, said National Security Council Spokesman John Kirby during an interview on TV channel MSNBC.

"It is worrisome", Kirby said.

Earlier, Israel Defence Forces said that it had received reports of suspected infiltration from Lebanon into Israeli airspace.

All civilians in the areas where sirens were sounded were asked to enter shelters and stay in them until further notice, the IDF said.

The US is watching developments on the Lebanon-Israel border closely, the White House’s national security spokesperson John Kirby said.

Kirby, in an interview with MSNBC, said:

We have seen rocket fire coming from southern Lebanon ... into northern Israel. We obviously are watching this with great concern. We don’t want to see this conflict widened or expanded.
Israel Defense Forces said a report was received regarding a suspected “infiltration from Lebanon into Israeli air space”.

I can't imagine this large an attack by Hamas is not part of a larger plan. Otherwise, what was the Hamas plan? Just to murder a lot of people and then take hostages? What does that gain them?
Hamas had to have planned this attack for some time, and Hamas must in that time have realized what the response would be. I am sure the military minds in Israel have considered that Hamas was hoping for a large scale land invasion and most likely have planned for that invasion as well. They should proceed cautiously in my opinion, this could be a rope-a-dope.

Very worried for Israel. I think this is the all or nothing war for the murderers, they don't care about any human life including their own. How do you defeat that? We are witnessing hell on earth

Egypt is conducting intensive contacts for a humanitarian truce

Rushdi Abu Alouf
BBC News, Gaza City

An Egyptian security official has told the BBC that “under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the Egyptian government is conducting intensive contacts and discussions with the parties concerned, especially the United States and the United Nations, to reach a humanitarian truce so that it can provide humanitarian aid, medical and food to the Gaza Strip”.

"Through the Rafah land border crossing, Egypt also continues contacts around the clock with Hamas and Israel for this goal. Five days have passed since the war, as it creates conditions that increase the suffering of civilians," the security source said.

Another official familiar with the talks told the BBC that a possible six-hour-pause to allow humanitarian corridor is being discussed with the concerned parties.

UN chief concerned about attacks from southern Lebanon

UN chief António Guterres has similarly warned of reported attacks from southern Lebanon, stressing an urgent need to avoid spillover of the conflict into Israel.

“I appeal to all parties and those who have influence over those parties to avoid any further escalation and spillover," he said today.

"I call for immediate release of all Israeli hostages held in Gaza. Civilians must be protected at all times. International humanitarian law must be respected and upheld.”

Palestinians in Gaza fear impact of siege as sole power plant shuts down

Ruth Michaelson

As Gaza’s sole power station ran out of fuel amid a tightening siege, hundreds of terrified people sought shelter in the entry of the enclave’s largest hospital, huddling together as bombardments rained down.

“The hospital is completely full and things have started to run low. And this is only day four,” said Ghassan Abu-Sittah, a surgeon at Gaza City’s main hospital, Al-Shifa.

The situation continues to deteriorate, the number of patients, especially kids, that are coming in with horrendous injuries …” he said, his voice trailing off.

This morning there was a child, a young girl, with indescribable facial injuries whose mother is a doctor at Al-Shifa who was killed when their home was targeted. Last night, another 10-year-old boy with also devastating facial injuries who was taken out from the rubble of his home in Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood.
A few hours after the Palestinian minister for energy said Gaza’s only power station had enough fuel to last another 12 hours at most, Gaza’s energy authority said the fuel had run out. The generators that many across Gaza have struggled to keep running in order to power homes and hospitals appeared set to sputter out without fuel, with no deliveries available due to the closure of Gaza’s southern border crossing with Egypt.

Gaza’s Al Mezan Centre for Human Rights warned:

Soon all services vital for the survival of the population, including hospitals, will no longer function.

Israel’s energy minister, Israel Katz, confirmed the country is blocking water, electricity and fuel from entering Gaza, warning that Israel will “continue to tighten the siege until the Hamas threat…is removed”.

In a post to X, Katz wrote:

For years we supplied Gaza with electricity, water and fuel. Instead of saying thank you, they sent thousands of human animals to slaughter, murder, rape and kidnap babies, women and the elderly.
That’s why we decided to stop the flow of water, electricity and fuel and now their local power station has collapsed and there is no electricity in Gaza.

There is “no security incident” in Israel’s north, a spokesperson for Israel Defense Forces said, following reports of a possible aerial infiltration from Lebanon.

The Israeli military is investigating what caused the drone alerts to sound across northern Israel earlier today, Rear Adm Daniel Hagari said.

Thanks for the link.
There it is. ^^^

My .02, they (Iran-backed Hamas) may have used drones for a while and that's how they knew about the outdoor music festival.
Omo.

Eta: Sounds like a false alarm .
I stand by my opinion that Hamas or Iran or both may have been surveilling Israel for some time ?
I still wouldn't be surprised to learn there was something odd going on in the air.. perhaps a "TEST" to see what Israel can detect or not detect. I prelude to something that is to come. I also wonder if what is said publicly is one thing and what they really know and suspect is something else. I hope they keep it quiet and go about removing that threat whatever it was.

IDF rules out airspace infiltration from Lebanon

We reported a statement from Israel Defense Forces (IDF) earlier saying it had received reports of a suspected infiltration from Lebanon into Israeli airspace and that sirens had sounded across northern Israel.

The IDF has jut released a new statement saying: "A suspected infiltration has been ruled out."

I'm confused. So is Hezbollah seriously involved or not?

I read about bombs from Lebanon, but it could have been they were taking advantage of the situation and didn't plan an all out attack. MOO I say this mainly because serious attacks take coordination and planning etc.
