"The attack on Israel showed that Hamas fighters are able to accumulate large stockpiles of weapons.
It includes not only improvised structures of their own production, but also an arsenal from outside.

Journalists and analysts from Ukrainian website Defense Express specializing in military topics have added North Korea to the previously mentioned allies of the aggressor, i.e. Iran and Russia.

They noticed weapons in photos of members of Hamas militias, suggesting that Pyongyang also sides with Israel's opponents.

Hamas members use a wide range of MANPADS, or light anti-aircraft missiles, to combat low-flying air targets. For a long time, experts have been pointing out that they have, among others:
Strela-2 sets having Russian (Soviet) origins and allowing the downing of objects located at an altitude of up to 2.3 km.

A similar weapon from Iran is the Misagh-1, but in this case the maximum altitude achieved by the missiles reaches 4 km. Their speed reaches up to 700 m/s.

In North Korea, HT-16PGJ sets were created based on the Russian 9K38 Igla. Previously seen in Syria, now Hamas fighters pose with them in selected photos."

More from my country's MSM

I fear for all hostages taken to the Gaza strip and their family on the other side.

As for energy supplies + water being shut, how could the Hamas and their backers not forsee what was going to happen! Now they are crying.
If the Hamas planned and stockpiled weapons for a long war, why did they not plan for utilities to be cut off?

Put a hold on the 6 billion sitting in Qatar bank until the hostages are released.

A question from ignorance.

Can we quote any X account or is there an approved list?

Thanks for guidance.

@OtisC
It's my understanding of WS rules that Twitter/X can be quoted with a link if it's from an MSM source or an official page, like law enforcement, government.

It can be tricky because the blue checkmark doesn't mean anything on Twitter/X any more. I look at the tweet'ers profile to verify they are a reporter with actual MSM before sharing, but I've had posts deleted when someone reports them, and I'm assuming that is because they didn't recognize the tweet'er as MSM as you do need to click on the bio to verify. That's frustrating.

The misinformation is not limited to Twitter/X. Resist falling for it! The ultimate goal of misinformation, imo, is not only confusion but eventual apathy because you think nothing can be trusted. Read and absorb info with careful consideration of the source, reasonableness, etc.

I made a mostly tongue-in-cheek comment earlier about how they should have invested in renewable energy instead of rockets.

But in all seriousness, yes. How can you ever expect ot defeat an enemy on the battlefield who you are also wholly reliant on for basic utilities?

Because Hamas does not care about the Palestinian people. They just hate Israelis. The suffering of Palestinians is not even a consideration. The ultimate goal is destruction of the Israeli government, Jewish Homeland and Israeli citizens.

Sadly, the Palestinian people in Gaza are just considered collateral damage in the goal to destroy Isreal.

I think any account run by mainstream media, or government officials should be ok

Perhaps Hamas knew the U.N. and the world in general would be against cutting off basics to the people of Gaza. So, they could make Israel look bad and also get utilities provided as well. In the meantime, the people suffer, but that was part of the plan too, imo.

Even so but they themselves as terrorists would need water, food and electricity to sustain them for inflicting horror on Israelis. That is what I do not get, they will also suffer.
It takes a lot to sustain an army. MOO.

Hamas likely has their own fuel to run their generators in a situation like this, and also water, food and other supplies in the tunnels. They don't care about the Gaza Strip civilians, they are taking care of themselves.

Egypt has discussed plans with the United States and others to provide humanitarian aid through its border with the Gaza Strip but rejects any move to set up safe corridors for refugees fleeing the enclave, Egyptian security sources said on Wednesday, Reuters reports.

Gaza, the tiny coastal strip of land wedged between Israel in the north and east and Egypt to the southwest, is home to some 2.3 million people who have been living under a blockade since Palestinian Islamist group Hamas took control there in 2007.

Egypt has long restricted the flow of Gazans on to its territory, even during the fiercest conflicts. Cairo, a frequent mediator between Israel and the Palestinians, always insists the two sides resolve conflicts within their borders, saying this is the only way Palestinians can secure their right to statehood.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said on Wednesday that crucial life-saving supplies, including fuel, food and water, must be allowed into Gaza.

We need rapid and unimpeded humanitarian access now,” he told reporters.
Guterres thanked Egypt:

For its constructive engagement to facilitate humanitarian access through the Rafah crossing and to make the El Arish airport available for critical assistance.”
The US had been holding consultations with Israel and Egypt about the idea of a safe passage for civilians from Gaza.

I agree. I rely on WS for news on many news stories, including this one. I know I'll find compassionate people who want accuracy. Let's pause in this chaos of war and be glad for small things, like this place to gather.

US will give Israel 'everything it needs' - Blinken

BBC
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken talks to reporters before travelling to Israel

Speaking to reporters as he was about to board the plane that would take him to Israel, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that “the US had Israel’s back – today, tomorrow and every day”.

“We stand resolutely against terrorism and we have seen the almost indescribable acts created by Hamas,” he added, adding the situation was “simply heart-breaking”.

He went on to say he would meet prime minister Netanyahu when he arrived in Israel, as well as president Isaac Herzog and other senior officials, reiterating the US would give Israel “everything it needed”.

Going on to talk about the US nationals that were still unaccounted for, he said their whereabouts would be determined and if it turned out they had been taken hostage by Hamas, they would work to secure their release.

Eleven UN staff killed in Gaza since Saturday

Eleven UN staff have now been killed in the Gaza strip, according to an update.

In a statement, Jennifer Austin, deputy director for the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), says she is "saddened" to confirm the deaths of her colleagues.

She notes that among the dead were five teachers at UNRWA schools, one gynaecologist, one engineer, one psychological counsellor and three support staff.

“Some were killed in their homes with their families," Austin adds.

A separate update from the Palestinian Authority's foreign ministry says four Red Crescent paramedics were killed on duty by Israeli strikes on Gaza.

Exactly, I believe ISIS did this.
