This reporter is so amazingly brave. The emotions show, and that makes for a more honest, war zone reporting.

A former Mossad chief says Israel is enforcing an apartheid system in the West Bank
A former head of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency says that Israel is enforcing an apartheid system in the West Bankabcnews.go.com
I think that some people in Israel knew that something was going to happen soon. It is interesting to look at things said prior to this, that basically predicted a revolt. What occurred was wrong, but maybe this was the only way Hamas felt they could be heard.
If you continue to beat a dog, you can't blame the dog for biting you.

Hamas designed this attack to then hide among their own civilians, to hide behind mothers, children, elderly. Hamas decided to use their own people as shields. My heart breaks for innocent people in such harm, and it is unbelievable that their own leaders in Hamas purposely planned to use civilians bodies to protect the fighters.'This is collective punishment': Gaza humanitarian worker
Civilians in Gaza are being subject to "collective punishment", humanitarian worker Hozayfa Yazji told the BBC's Newshour programme.
"I do not accept targeting civilians from both sides by any means. To this retaliation in Gaza... In my mind, it's a collective punishment.
"I'm looking out of my window and people just running in the streets of Gaza and they don't know where to go. There is no hope," says Hozayfa, who is the Gaza area manager for the Norwegian Refugee Council.
While Gaza residents have experienced many rounds of attacks in the last 14 years, Hozayfa says they have never been on this scale.
"The situation is very bad, it's beyond even words. In Gaza there is no safe place at the moment," he said.
Planned it a year ago but made no plans to protect their own people. imoWashington Post reported that Hamas began planning the attack on Israel at least a year ago, with training and logistical help and funding from Iran.
The Palestinian militants behind the surprise weekend attack on Israel began planning the assault at least a year ago, with key support from Iranian allies who provided military training and logistical help as well as tens of millions of dollars for weapons, current and former Western and Middle Eastern intelligence officials said Monday.
Insightful analysis. imo"Hamas attacked from the south.
Who does Israel have as an enemy in the north?
Hezbollah. It is a Lebanese, Shiite organization, established on the initiative of Iran in the 1980s. Currently, it is the leading political and military force in politically unstable Lebanon.
Hezbollah last went to a major confrontation with Israel in 2006. It is, of course, in contact with Hamas, but Hezbollah has its own goals and calculations. It's not like they'll automatically join this war.
For now, Hezbollah members are limiting themselves to "gestures of solidarity," but they have not used their entire arsenal or combat capabilities to attack Israel.
This is a game of interests.
However,
Israel must take into account in its calculations that if it launches a ground operation in the Gaza Strip, Hezbollah may strike from the north. It is probable.
Hamas wanted to strengthen its power and show that it was taking the initiative.
It made a calculation of forces and costs. The fact that fighters and civilians will die is calculated into this operation.
Hamas terrorists have shown that they are more effective than Fatah and that they can succeed in the fight against Israel.
They took dozens of Israeli hostages. They can use them as human shields or exchange them for their prisoners. Every living Israeli is a currency to be exchanged."
From my country's Press:
"The cauldron of the Holy Land:
who's who in Palestine and Israel, who's pulling the strings in the Middle East?"

Trwa kontratak Izraela. Jaki był cel liderów Hamasu? Jaka będzie...wiadomosci.wp.pl
