Nobody said that. There have been reports of "dozens of casualties". People may have been in the parking lot.

You may want to take a minute and read some of these 5 threads - they are very informative.
I think there has been 1 report of dozens of casualties.

Are there more? Maybe we could have some links and sources.

Biden praises Netanyahu, Sissi on Gaza humanitarian aid deal: They ‘stepped up’

US President Joe Biden praised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi for an agreement to let humanitarian aid in to the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing from Egypt.

Speaking to reporters at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany following a brief solidarity visit to Israel on Wednesday, Biden said Sissi agreed to open the crossing and to let in an initial group of 20 trucks with humanitarian aid, and possibly more at a later time.

“Sissi deserves some real credit because he was very accommodating,” Biden said, adding that the Egyptian president was “fair” and “very cooperative.”

Israel stopped all entry of food, water, medicine and fuel to Gaza following Hamas’s brutal onslaught on October 7 when some 2,500 terrorists burst across the border into Israel from the Gaza Strip by land, air and sea, killing some 1,400 people and seizing 200-250 hostages of all ages under the cover of a deluge of thousands of rockets fired at Israeli towns and cities.

The vast majority of those killed as gunmen seized border communities were civilians — men, women, children and the elderly. Entire families were executed in their homes, and over 260 were slaughtered at an outdoor festival, many amid horrific acts of brutality by the terrorists, in what Biden has highlighted as “the worst massacre of the Jewish people since the Holocaust.”

Israel had bombed the Rafah crossing to prevent all entry of materials shortly after the war broke out.

Biden’s wartime visit to Israel Wednesday was aimed at showing support and also securing humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian enclave, ruled by the Hamas terror group.

Netanyahu’s office said Israel “will not thwart” deliveries of food, water or medicine from Egypt, as long as they are limited to civilians in the south of the Gaza Strip and don’t go to Hamas terrorists. Netanyahu also vowed not to let any aid into the Strip through Israel’s crossings.

Biden warned that “if Hamas confiscates it, doesn’t let it get through … then it’s going to end,” he said. The aid will start moving Friday at the earliest, White House officials said.

Biden clarified that people will not be able to evacuate Gaza through Rafah, apparently in order to assuage fears in Cairo that Egypt will be asked to take in refugees from Gaza.

Biden said he thought he’s have to spend more time trying to convince Sissi but he “stepped up as did Bibi [Netanyahu],” Biden told reporters.

“Israel has been badly victimized, but, you know, the truth is that if they have an opportunity to relieve suffering of people who are — have nowhere to go… it’s what they should do. And if they don’t, they’ll be held accountable in ways that may be unfair,” he said, adding that he was “very blunt with the Israelis in talks Wednesday.

“If you have an opportunity to alleviate the pain, you should do it. Period. And if you don’t, you’re going to lose credibility worldwide,” he said.

Relatives of some of the roughly 200 people who were taken hostage and forced into Gaza during the attack reacted with fury to the aid announcement.

“Children, infants, women, soldiers, men, and elderly, some with serious illnesses, wounded and shot, are held underground like animals,” said a statement from the Hostage and Missing Families Forum. But “the Israeli government pampers the murderers and kidnappers.”

The UN earlier today said that roughly 100 trucks of aid per day will be needed to rehabilitate Gaza following the Israeli counter-attacks.

10/18/23

The two countries, which flank Israel on opposite sides and share borders with Gaza and the occupied West Bank, respectively, have replied with a staunch refusal. Jordan already has a large Palestinian population.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi made his toughest remarks yet on Wednesday, saying the current war was not just aimed at fighting Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, “but also an attempt to push the civilian inhabitants to ... migrate to Egypt.” He warned this could wreck peace in the region.

Jordan’s King Abdullah II gave a similar message a day earlier, saying, “No refugees in Jordan, no refugees in Egypt.”

Whether it’s dozens or hundreds killed and injured… it’s still VERY tragic. We won’t know the exact number for awhile, and I can’t believe people are arguing about this.

What’s also tragic is that more and more evidence and proof is coming out where the rocket originated from. They are killing their own people and putting the blame on the Israel - and inciting anger and hate around the entire world.

Misinformation is important.

The argument is about not undermining a tragedy.

Latest News as Israel, Militants Blame Each Other for Explosion

President Biden condemned the blast at a hospital compound in Gaza during a visit to Tel Aviv in a show of support for Israel.

Hospital Blast: Israel, the U.S. and security experts cast doubt on Palestinian claims that an Israeli airstrike was responsible for a deadly blast at a Gaza hospital compound, saying the preliminary evidence pointed to a local militant group.

U.S.: President Biden visited Tel Aviv, where he declared his support for Israel. Some Americans remain stuck in Gaza.

Aid: Israel said it would allow humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip through Egypt following U.S. requests. Biden said Egypt has agreed to open the gates to the Rafah border crossing but assistance might not begin moving into Gaza until later in the week. He said the U.S. would send $100 million in humanitarian assistance for Gaza and the West Bank.

Protests: The hospital blast roused anti-Israel and anti-U.S. sentiment across the region, including in the West Bank, where protesters clashed with Palestinian security forces, and in Lebanon and Iraq, where some tried to breach the U.S. and French embassies.

Casualties: More than 1,400 Israelis have died since the Hamas assault began. Israel said 289 of its soldiers have been killed on Oct. 7 and afterward. In Gaza, officials said the Palestinian death toll was about 3,000 before the hospital blast.

Hostages: American families pleaded for help and information about the missing. A Hamas spokesman said the group was holding around 200 people hostage, with at least 50 others held by other factions including Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Most of the images of the hospital blast I’m seeing in the media and online are of the burnt up cars and burnt parking lot. I’m not saying the hospital wasn’t heavily damaged, but it seems strange that these are the images that the media is focusing on

There are some more images here but they are graphic.

Exactly. But none of us here know what is the 100% truth and what is not. All we have is what the media is telling us, history, and our common sense. There’s A LOT of misinformation out there. I think we are all trying to understand the truth.

Joe Biden needs to stop bringing up his deceased family members every time there’s a tragedy like this. It’s inappropriate, it’s not the same thing at.all. and he does NOT know how these people are feeling based on his past experiences. He doesn’t always have to one up the people he’s talking to, just say you’re sorry, dude.

Here is our wrap of the latest in the conflict:

About 20 trucks carrying humanitarian aid will enter Gaza from Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula in the coming days, according to the White House, after President Joe Biden’s whirlwind visit to Israel that came in the aftermath of a deadly blast at a hospital in the besieged enclave.

Following hours of talks with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahuand his war cabinet, Biden said Israel had agreed to allow the opening of the Egypt-Gaza Rafah crossing to deliveries of desperately needed food, water and medical supplies on condition that the humanitarian assistance was not diverted by Hamas for its own use.

“The people of Gaza need food, water, medicine and shelter,” Biden said, while vowing to continue to provide for Israel’s security needs and supporting Israel’s assessment that the explosion at the al-Ahli Hospital on Tuesday night was not the result of an Israeli airstrike, but of “an errant rocket fired by a terrorist group in Gaza”.

A new Washington Institute report finds that Iraqi militias are using the type of coded language that has historically preceded attacks on US targets.

A few snippets below from:

Syrian President Bashar al Assad blamed the United State and Israel for the Gaza hospital bombing on October 17 and called for three days of mourning.[24] CTP-ISW did not record any attacks related to the Israel-Hamas war into or from Syria on October 18, however. Over 1,000 Iraqi Popular Mobilization forces deployed to Homs Province from Iraq in the past several days, according to local opposition media.[25] The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also transferred Iranian-backed militias from eastern Syria to southern Syria, the Golan Heights, and Lebanon from eastern Syria on October 16 and 17.[26]

Two Iranian-backed Iraqi militias conducted separate attacks on US forces stationed at the al Harir airbase and Ain al Asad airbase in Iraq on October 18.[27]
CTP-ISW previously reported that elements of Iran’s Axis of Resistance, including Iranian-backed Iraqi militias, have threatened to attack US forces if the United States intervenes in the Israel-Hamas war.[28] It is unclear if the two attacks were coordinated or if the IRGC Quds Force ordered the attacks.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq established the al Aqsa Joint Operations Room on October 18 in support of Hamas' al Aqsa Flood operation.[37] The Islamic Resistance in Iraq released its statement following accusations that Israel and the United States were responsible for the explosion at the al Ahli Hospital in the Gaza Strip on October 17. The Islamic Resistance of Iraq is comprised of Iranian-backed militias, such as Asaib Ahl al Haq, Kataib Hezbollah, Badr Organization, Harakat Hezbollah al Nujaba, Kataib Seyyed al Shohada, Ashab al Kahf, and Kataib Imam Ali.[38] Two unidentified members of Iranian-backed Iraqi militias cited by Associated Press reported that Iran has not given orders to ”join the wider battle on Israel.”[39] Prominent Iranian-backed militias issued statements condemning Israel for allegedly striking the al Ahli Hospital but did not call for attacks as they had previously threatened to do.[40]

There's more. 47 hits for "Iraq" at the link.

Biden’s pick as Israel envoy tells senators he’ll ensure US ally ‘has what it needs’

Jack Lew, treasury secretary under Obama, says war must ‘end with Israel’s security being guaranteed’

WASHINGTON (AP) — US President Joe Biden’s nominee to be ambassador to Israel told senators Wednesday that he would “ensure Israel has what it needs to defend itself” and would work with the US ally to end the attacks by Hamas if he were confirmed.

Jacob (Jack) Lew, a treasury secretary under President Barack Obama, promised to coordinate with the international community and address the humanitarian crisis facing civilians in Gaza amid Israeli military strikes. His hearing came as Biden visited Israel to reinforce US support and try to ease tensions in the latest war with Hamas.

“At this moment, there is no greater mission than to be asked to strengthen the ties between the United States and the State of Israel and to work toward peace in a region that has known so much war and destruction,” Lew said in his opening statement.

The Senate is moving quickly to confirm Lew, who was nominated by Biden last month after Tom Nides left as ambassador in July. Democrats say Lew’s wealth of government experience — he also was chief of staff to Obama and White House budget director under Obama and President Bill Clinton — makes him the right person to fill the post at a a critical moment in the two countries’ relationship.

“Hamas has started a war,” said Sen. Ben Cardin, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, as he began the hearing. “Given the dangerous state of emergency that Israel faces, the United States needs a confirmed US ambassador in Jerusalem.”

Scenes at the Gaza-Egypt border

Throngs of people in Gaza have moved to the southernmost part of the Gaza Strip, where the Rafah crossing with Egypt's border is located, after they were warned to evacuate ahead of an expected Israeli ground invasion.

Egypt has agreed to open the crossing for aid delivery into Gaza - this may happen by Friday at the earliest - but there has been no mention of people being allowed to leave.

They were all buried in a mass grave today. I really doubt that we will know the number, unless someone besides Hamas controls death certificates or death declarations.

BBC News Feed: Operating Room Ceiling Fell on US

Dr Ghassan Abu-Sittah was working at Gaza’s Al-Ahli Hospital when it was rocked by an explosion on Tuesday night.

The surgeon from north London said the ceiling of the operating room "fell on us" as he was carrying out a procedure.

Dr Abu-Sittah had earlier told the BBC he had been working every day until 1am in dire conditions, with children comprising 40% of the patients he has seen.

He added that resources were running out fast with water pressure now insufficient to supply some of the equipment.

Nightmare Phone Call Reveals Israeli Family of 10 Kidnapped by Hamas: ‘Survival, That’s Where We Are’ (Exclusive)

A family spanning grandparents, their adult children and grandchildren as young as 3 are believed to be held hostage in Gaza after chilling phone call confirmation

Shoshan Haran’s sunroom in her home in the Be'eri kibbutz was lined with orchids — so many, because her neighbors often brought their sickly plants to rehab under her care.

Today most of the house lies in black ash, torched by Hamas terrorists who are believed to have kidnapped Shoshan and her extended family of 10 into Gaza on Oct. 7 — the day Hamas attacked Israel, killing 1,400 people and plunging the area into war.

For the Sukkot holiday, the Israeli family had gathered at the home of Shoshan, 67, and her husband Avshalom, 66, including their daughter Adi, 38, a psychologist, her husband Tal, and their two children Yael Neri, 3 and Naveh, 8; Avshalom’s sister Sharon Avigdori, 52, a special needs psychologist, and her 12-year-old daughter, Noam.

They had been celebrating with Shoshan’s sister Lilach Kipnis, 60, a psychotherapist who works with children with trauma, and her husband Eviatar Moshe Kipnis, 65, who live nearby on the kibbutz.

All 10 family members are now missing. Eviatar’s caregiver, Paul Castelvi, has been identified among the dead.

“We called them, we actually were able to reach Yuval’s mother Shoshan on the phone. She answered us whispering," recalls Milstein. "We didn’t understand why she was whispering. She said they were all together in the panic room. It’s half past six in the morning. A few minutes later we went into the internal app of the kibbutz and we started seeing people sending live messages and we understood it’s not just a regular missile shooting.”

Since the brutal attack, the Haran family members have been trying to piece together information on their own. “Someone went to see their house, which was completely burned down and there weren’t any bodies there,” says Milstein. “Another piece of information that we got is a very good friend of Avshalom tried to call him many many times on Saturday. At some point, someone answered the phone with bad Hebrew and an Arab accent and said to him the word ‘kidnapped.’ "

Tracking their phones, the relatives could see the missing Haran family was in Gaza.

“There's no news of the state of the hostages. And that's what we want,” she says. “We want Hamas to send us proof that they are alive and that they are safe and that they have the right conditions order to stay strong and survive until we bring them home."

Shoshan, the founder of the NGO Fair Planet that distributes seeds across Africa to combat global hunger, and her brother were born in Be'eri; their father Avraham fled Nazi Germany in the 1930s and founded the kibbutz. In the deadliest day in Israel's history, Milstein estimates roughly half of Avraham’s descendants have been kidnapped.

On Oct. 17, a representative for the Haran family confirmed the bodies of Avshalom Haran, 66, and Eviatar Moshe Kipnis, 65, had been found.

I’m sorry …morbid question, but before they buried them today in the mass grave, we’re they able to identify them all?
