The Israel Defence Forces has just posted an update to X in which it said it “continues to attack all the time throughout the Gaza Strip”.

“During the last day, the IDF, directed by the Shin Bet, destroyed hundreds of Hamas terrorist infrastructures, dozens of which were attacked in the Sageya neighborhood. The hundreds of terrorist infrastructures that were attacked include anti-tank missile launch sites, tunnel shafts, intelligence infrastructures, operational headquarters and other headquarters,” the IDF said.

It claimed to have killed "“the head of the military wing of the terrorist organisation People’s Resistance Committees in Rafah, Rafat Harev Hossein Abu Halal” as well as “a number of operatives belonging to the Najaba force of Hamas”.

Hmmm. NBC Nightly News link says warning from Homeland Security…

I said last night I expected a warning sooner than later…

Is there one at the link I posted, checking

Eta: no
The U.S. government warned law enforcement nationwide Wednesday that fighting between Israel and Hamas has "sharpened the focus of potential attacks" in the United States for individuals and institutions with "perceived" ties to the turmoil. An intelligence bulletin issued by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), FBI and National Counterterrorism Center urged law enforcement officials and private sector security partners to "remain vigilant" in the days following Hamas' deadly assault on Israel.

Intelligence analysts have assessed that "lone offenders inspired by, or reacting to, the ongoing Israel–Hamas conflict pose the most likely threat to Americans, especially Jewish, Muslim, and Arab communities in the United States," but cautioned that the bulletin reflects "this moment" amid a "fluid and evolving situation."

[...]

According to the bulletin, federal law enforcement observed an increase in threats to Jewish and Muslim communities in recent days, noting that "hoax bomb threats have targeted several synagogues across the United States—likely intended to disrupt services and intimidate congregants."

I am not seeing that on IDF's twitter unless it was said in the operational update which was 3 hours ago. ?

1500 Israeli medical workers call in 'Lancet' for immediate release of hostages

'This is our oath. These are our values,' the letter says.

An urgent call for the immediate release of Israeli hostages

Published:October 12, 2023DOI:Redirecting

The past few days have been harrowing for Israel. We are in shock at the greatest loss of civilian life since the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948.
1
Civilians—Jewish, Christian, and Muslim—were massacred on a scale that is incomprehensible, in a calculated act of terror. Jewish families have been massacred in their homes, foreign agriculture workers have been slaughtered in the fields, hundreds of young people in a party were shot in the back while escaping,
2
and Bedouin children have been shot dead by Hamas militia. More than 3000 rockets hit Israel on Oct 7, 2023, alone,
3
,
4
leading to an almost complete halt of normalcy and routine across many parts of the country.
The barbaric rampage was indiscriminate. Entire villages in the south of Israel have been decimated. Entire families were lost. This was the largest pogrom in 1 day against Jewish people since the Holocaust.
5
It is a crime against humanity.
At least 900 people have been massacred; the count not final as not all the bodies have been located.
1
More than 2800 people were injured and maimed
6
—some will not survive their injuries, many will remain incapacitated, and all will be traumatised for life.
Currently, hospitals in Israel are on full alert and all physicians and medical personnel have been called upon. The health-care system in Israel has always been and will continue to be a model of co-existence for all—Jewish people, Muslims, Druze people, Christians—people of all faiths and ethnicities working together, caring for all human beings regardless of their nationality, identity, gender, religion, or political belief. This is our oath. These are our values.
More than 150 Israeli hostages have been taken—among them whole families, toddlers without their parents, older people (including Holocaust survivors and frail people with dementia), and their foreign caregivers.
7
Videos have emerged of bodies being mutilated on the streets of Gaza, of hostages paraded, humiliated, beaten in front of cheering crowds, of hostages tied and bound in abhorrent conditions, of Israeli children being hit by both Gazan adults and children.
We urgently call on the international medical community, a community that is committed to the preservation of human life, to condemn the savage massacre, to immediately call for guarantees for the safety and health of all those being kept hostage, and to unequivocally call for the immediate and unconditional return of our families and friends who have been cruelly taken hostage.
With prayers for safety and peace for all.
We declare no competing interests. This letter is co-signed by 1500 Israeli health-care professionals (appendix).
Editorial note: The Lancet Group takes a neutral position with respect to territorial claims in published text and institutional affiliations.

The IDF says that overnight it killed the head of the military wing of Gaza’s Popular Resistance Committees terror group.

The military says that warplanes carried out an airstrike on the southern Gaza town of Rafah following information received from the Shin Bet, killing Rafat Abu Hilal.

The Popular Resistance Committees is the third largest terror group in the Strip after Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

In addition, the IDF says it destroyed hundreds of Hamas sites in the last 24 hours, including anti-tank missile launch sites, tunnel shafts, intelligence infrastructure, operational headquarters and other headquarters.

It’s the Palestinians who have run out of everything.
Shame that Hamas won’t help them with food, water and medical supplies :(

IDF says it struck and killed the head of the Popular Resistance Committees terror faction in Gaza, Rafat Abu Hilal, as well as several members of the Hamas commando forces. Hundreds of other Hamas sites hit over the past day.

IDF says it struck a number of Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon overnight in response to the earlier anti-tank guided missile attacks.

IDF names another two local security officers and a reservist killed during the war which began October 7.

The names bring the toll of slain soldiers, officers and reservists -- many of whom are local security officers -- to 306.

Why has Egypt been reluctant to open the border to civilians?

Egypt and Jordan flank Israel on opposite sides and share borders with Gazaand the occupied West Bank, respectively. Both have have been reticent to allow displaced Palestinians in.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi made his toughest remarks yet on Wednesday, saying the current war was not just aimed at fighting Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, “but also an attempt to push the civilian inhabitants to … migrate to Egypt.” He warned this could wreck peace in the region.

Palestinians could instead be moved to Israel’s Negev desert “till the militants are dealt with”, Egyptian president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi told a joint press conference in Cairo with German chancellor Olaf Scholz.

“What is happening now in Gaza is an attempt to force civilian residents to take refugee and migrate to Egypt, which should not be accepted,” said Sisi.

“Egypt rejects any attempt to resolve the Palestinian issue by military means or through the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land, which would come at the expense of the countries of the region,” he said.

Sisi said the Egyptian people would “go out and protest in their millions … if called upon to do so” against any displacement of Gaza’s residents to Sinai.

Referring to the Egyptian position at a Beirut press conference, Hamas official Osama Hamdan called “for rallying around this position and supporting it on the popular and Arab official level because this represents real protection for our Palestinian people.”

Yonatan Gonen

@GonenYonatan

The heart is broken into pieces: The mother was murdered, the father was shot and missing, their 3 years old girl was kidnapped to Gaza, their other two children survived by hiding in the closet for 14 hours.
This is Idan family story, let the world know: Roy Idan managed to take pictures of the Hamas Terrorists infiltrating the kibutz in southern Israel before they murdered his wife, Smadar, in their home, in front of their young children: Michael, 9 years old Amalia, 6 Abigail, 3 Roy was also hit by the fire and fell to the floor while holding Abigail. Since then he was missing.
Michael, a 9-year-old boy, a brave hero, called the emergency medical services and said that his father and mother are dead, that there are terrorists near the house and asked for help. The woman that was with him on the line realized that she should try to save the children and suggested that they hide.
This hero, just 9 years old, took his sister Amalia, and they went into a closet and hid for 14 hours from the terrorists.
14 hours! Without food, without water. Without parents.
They sat in silence until someone arrived and rescued them.
3-year-old Abigail disappeared! she was probably kidnapped to Gaza.
A 3-year-old girl alone, after seeing what happened to her father and mother.
A 3-year-old girl in Gaza alone A 3-year-old girl in Gaza alone A 3-year-old girl in Gaza alone Can anyone imagine it?
We pray for Abigail and all the other sweet children and our heroes, for all the people whe were kidnapped to Gaza, for all the missing people.

I still need to question why Egypt is not allowing Dual Palestinian-Foreign Nationals to exit (even by foot); nor foreign nationals.

They'd have nothing to do with "displacement of Gazan residents".

How long until aid reaches Gaza?

Biden said Egypt’s president agreed to open the crossing and to let in an initial group of 20 trucks with humanitarian aid. If Hamas confiscates aid, “it will end,” he said. The aid will start moving Friday at the earliest, White House officials said.

He added that the 20 trucks represented a “first tranche,” but “150 or something” trucks are waiting in total. Whether the rest are allowed to cross will depend on “how it goes.”

Egypt says the roads across the border need to be repaired after they were hit by Israeli airstrikes. More than 200 trucks and 3,000 tons of aid are positioned at or near the Rafah crossing, according to the head of the Red Crescent for North Sinai, Khalid Zayed.

Supplies will go in under supervision of the UN, Egyptian foreign minister Sameh Shoukry told Al-Arabiya TV. Asked if foreigners and dual nationals seeking to leave would be let through, he said: “As long as the crossing is operating normally and the [crossing] facility has been repaired.”
