Mashaal: Hamas ‘well aware of consequences’ of attack, liberation demands ‘sacrifices

Terror group’s former leader falsely claims it doesn’t target civilians, says Israel ‘is defeated, its strategy has collapsed’

In a new interview, Hamas official Khaled Mashal has said the terror group is “well aware of the consequences” of its brutal October 7 attack on Israel, insisted his group — which massacred some 1,000 civilians in the assault — does not target non-combatants, and said Palestinians will need to sacrifice lives in order to “liberate” themselves from Israel.

It's a play on words.

To them, anyone not fully aligned with their evil idealogy IS an infidel, a combatant, and considered fair game.

Men, women, children, the elderly... they don't care. And they've made that perfectly clear.

and yet he can enjoy the luxury and shelter of Qatar ( a big ally of West) ! The hypocrisy is beyond belief

( there is a big protest against Israel happening in Qatar right now. I won't paste the clips, they're on twitter if anybody wants to see them)

Another article in The Atlantic:
'The reckoning that is coming for Qatar — Its dalliance with Islamist groups such as the Taliban and Hamas has at times made it a diplomatic broker. Now those ties are a liability. As Israel and Hamas sink deeper into conflict, Doha finds itself in a delicate position. As a long-standing backer of the Muslim Brotherhood, Qatar has huge influence over the movement’s Palestinian affiliate, Hamas. That offers a significant opportunity in the short run' The Reckoning That Is Coming for Qatar

This article is paywalled for me. What is it about? How does the election date in UK pose a security risk and how is this related to the Israeli war with Hamas?

It's to do with the UK and US elections being held at the same time and how it could open up two countries to cyberwarfare and electoral manipulation from hostile states

The prime minister is considering holding an autumn election in the hope that the economy will have improved enough to close the gap with Labour.
An autumn contest could overlap with the US election on November 5 next year — a scenario not seen for decades. A Whitehall source said ministers were advised of the security risks involved in an election that coincided with a US presidential race.

It's very strange to me that Israel had the governing party of it's next door neighbor cross into their country, kill over 1,000 people and take 200 hostages, and now people are asking them to stop their retaliation. Or even provide aid to area where the same terrorists are who just committed these atrocities. I don't get it.
Israel is now at war because of those acts. Innocent people will be killed, even more so because of the strategies of Hamas (telling people not to leave, hiding weapons in schools), etc. As I said, this is a war now. Unfortunately this is how these things go, since the beginning of time. If this were the US, and the UN/other countries were telling us to "lighten up", we would laugh in their faces. And rightfully so. IMO.
Let's not forget they would only have to do one thing if they truly wanted their innocent civilians to live and have necessary aid- release the hostages. That's it. Until then, carry on Israel.
IMO.

So, just asking where all of the money is going to come from...we have aging, crumbling infrastructure all over the United States.

Is it the "job" of the United States to be the "Daddy" of the world?

Why isn't this a UN issue? .

I found the whole Egyptian border crossing with Gaza confusing. This helped me understand the situation a little better:
The movement of people from Gaza to Egypt at the Rafah crossing was controlled by Israel until it relinquished control to Egyptian, Palestinian and European Union authorities in 2005 via the Agreement on Movement and Access, and Agreed Principles for Rafah Crossing.

However, people crossing into Egypt are required to be registered and approved by the government of Israel in advance of their crossing. Israeli forces monitor control over the movement of goods in and out of Gaza through the crossing.

Hamas is setting up at or besides these sites. They know they are protected.

It was one outside wall, not the entire structure. Photos up thread.

Bingo.

Concussion force from airstrikes can often cause damage to nearby infrastructure or persons (called "collateral" damage).

Nations that comply with the LoAC and the Conventions employ "targetting protocols" (Joint Targetting) in order to minimize collateral damage --- a procedure put in place to verify and ensure the target is indeed a legitimate 'military' target etc prior to striking it. They also employ the use of 'smart' munitions or JDAMs (precision/guided) in their strikes. Israel does all of these things in order to minimize collateral damage to civilians and protected sites. This equates to "Discriminate Fire/Discriminate Targetting". Fire that discriminates between "legit military" targets and those that are not.

I note that absolutely zero of the Hamas missiles being fired follow any of the above targetting or munitions protcols. This equates to "Indiscriminate Targetting". Simply put, they follow no LoAC or Geneva Protocols intended to minimize collateral damage and to preserve civilian non-combattants or protected sites. War Crimes. They hit an Israeli Hospital last week ... not a peep.

When an enemy commits war crimes by placing legitimate military targets in, under, around and on top of legally protected sites, that directly turns that legally protected site into a legitimate miltary target in accordance with the conventions. That is exactly why the placement of these things at/next to those sites is a war crime.

Nations who comply with the LoAC and Conventions will still attempt to minimize the collateral damage to those locations/civilians by doing things like:

- ensuring classes are complete for the day and students out of the school before taking out the missile launch site on it's roof or beside it (as the IDF did in Lebanon just the ther day);

- waiting until a train full of passengers crosses over a bridge before taking out the bridge (anyone recall those airstrikes in the Blakans);

- roof knocking on buildings to allow innocents to get out before the strike comes in on the communications facility that's been set up in one of it's apartments etc.

- etc, etc, etc

Ground Forces:

Always come in after airstrikes have taken out the enemy HQs (Head Quarters / top persons), Communication Facilities, Missile Launch Sites etc. IE: after they've taken out the major threats to their own 'boots-on-ground' (infantry). No difference in this war from any others.

No, the agreement was no fuel and only 20 trucks.

Hamas has fuel, as long as rockets are being fired.

Maybe these authorities need to be speaking with Hamas and the Palestinians leaders to share fuel with hospitals and give up the hostages.

Moo.
That was my point, maybe Hamas supplied them with fuel.

I will spell it out in a logical manner:

1. The hospitals were saying they would run out of fuel by a couple days ago.

2. There are no current reports that hospitals have run out of fuel

3. They haven't received any fuel from outside

4. Therefore, probably Hamas supplied them with fuel.

Israel admitted to bombing the area. The roads are messed up.

At this time, what you're talking about does not apply. This is about US citizens in Gaza not being allowed to leave.

US Citizens should not be required to be registered by the Govt of Israel. The border is only open to citizens of certain countries. (500 of them American) US Citizens will only be passing through like at an airport and then get on a plane go home. No one is allowed to actually visit Egypt.

Though Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had called areas in southern Gaza “safe zones” earlier this week, Israeli military spokesman Nir Dinar said Friday: “There are no safe zones.”

And therein lays the (un-PC) answer. Any infidel is indeed considered by them to be a "legitimate target". That's the actual ideology at work.

They very essence of the difference between "good and evil".
