I hope that Palestinians who can provide information and who do not support Hamas are enticed to accept this offer. And if they do, I hope Israel really does protect them. The Pollyanna in me wants to think that this is a good opportunity for Israel to build relationships with - and be a safety zone for - ordinary Palestinians who do not support Hamas but who don’t speak up because they don’t want to risk themselves or their families being harmed.
It is very difficult for Gazans. Under Hamas rule, working with the Israelis is a death sentence. If Gaza is an "open air prison", Hamas are the guards, not Israel.

It reminds me of 9/11...and the President of the U.S. was reading a book to school children in Florida. When Americans found out the President didn't immediately take charge, many were NOT happy.

RSBM

“There were guards and a paramedic and a doctor who took care of the fact that we’ll have the same medicine that we need.”

- Guards come from Hamas
- Paramedics come from the Palestinian Red Crescent
- Doctors come from the Gazan Health Ministry which is run by Hamas

Interesting that they were there waiting for hostages to show up and prepared to provide all required prescription drugs.
Interesting too that to date the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has still not been given any access to the hostages forcibly relocated to Gaza on 7 October (except to receive four of them from Hamas terrorists for onward transfer).

She says all of the above were well prepared for their arrival.

Says a whole heck of a bunch about complicity of people not identifying as terrorists with Hamas.

I am so thankful that this hostage is released and doing well. Her statement is so telling if one really reads the details.
If only they spent all that time, energy and money on planning ahead for the Gazans. Securing fuel for the hospitals. Water. Medical supplies. Food. They knew Israel would retaliate. Ugh.

Moo...war is savage, it brings out the ugly on all sides. The one that that causes the most death and destruction wins....moo
No. Raping little girls so viciously their bones break is not a normal part of war. Not at all.

And nothing Is real or any other country has ever done in any way justified it.

I have to disagree. What Hamas is doing is not war. They are committing atrocities directed against civilians and the most innocent and vulnerable. These are war crimes at an unbelievable level.

Unfortunately, with regards to International War Crimes, they are in limbo, since they aren't a nation. It is likely up to the Israeli system to prosecute them.

I assume their legal system has methods of dealing with terrorists. OTOH Remember all the terrorists in Gitmo? Some were released without charges. A few were tried within our legal system etc etc etc....

Palestine signed onto the Geneva Conventions. Their rulers (Hamas) in the Gaza can be held accountable ... and should be.

Moo .Hamas is not one thing..it is leaders and trained soldiers, soldiers obey or they die. These rapes and kidnappings are crimes...you don't even need a war for these things to happen. Death by rape is quite common... In countries not at war..like USA ..but is it truthfull or fair to paint all Americans with this cruel brush? There's is Hamas, with it's leaders and soldiers and there are Palestinians who have no choices...moo

I don't think Mossad will let any of those men ever see the inside of a courtroom.
I remember a few Nazi War criminals they managed to hunt down and bring to Israel for trial on war crimes charges. Eichmann immediately jumps to mind.

That way, the world gets to see all the evidence on full display and official record of the atrocities exists.

And, although Israel has abolished the death penalty for murder, I believe it is still on the books for those convicted of war crimes.

They also have some of the 7 October terrorists detained already and some of them still being treated in their hospitals for their injuries as well. They will all go to trial for war crimes they've comitted.

I also notice that the press aren't reporting something that she said earlier after her release, that when Hamas took her into Gaza, that when they crossed the border into Gaza, she was beaten with sticks by ordinary civilian Palestinians. I only read this reported once.

An 85 year old woman taken hostage with bruised ribs, sleeping in moist, cold conditions, and given very little to eat while sick and weak, and then invited to a Hamas tea party before she is released. Only true believers will fall for it.
Exactly. And I hate to bring it up again, but it needs to be said. When Shani Louk’s lifeless, broken and twisted almost naked body was paraded through the streets of Gaza after being taken by Hamas - Palestinian civilians cheered triumphantly and spit on her body.

@Momoffourboys : Wow. Crazy unbelievable.
But not surprising.
Grrr ! Sneaky, dirty low down cowards.
Leaving civilians to be killed whilst rescuing themselves.
It's as if the Hamas' leaders don't care if all Gazans suffer and die and the entire area is leveled -- as long as their murderous regime endures.

Eta : Re. the video link in above post #438 Thanks, @Gypsy Road ! : It's difficult to feel too badly for Gazans who spit on and beat the kidnapped Israelis -- but I want to believe that not all Gazans are like that.

If Israel decides to target ambulances now, I believe they know who is inside them -- and are fully aware of Hamas' deceptions and tricks !
Let me guess, Hamas' leaders will put innocent people in them as well, and then cry 'foul' if they're hit ?

Someone mentioned why didn't Israel target some of the rocket launching sites in Gaza that were there before the attack on 10/7 ?
My .02 is that Israel knew there were innocent people in those kindergartens , mosques, and hospitals and declined to cause more civilian casualties.
Hence the leaflet dropping to urge people to evac.
Omo.
