IMO its not blanket collateral damage like taking down hospitals and etc.
Its unsettling when innocent people are declared "Human animals", "dogs" and "insects". I worry for the families, children and innocent people who have no part in any of this, who dont want any part in this.

Ok. Well then what should be done? Should we sit back and look away while they continue to grow their terrorist network until they are big enough to terrorize more parts of the world?? Should Israel live in constant fear of being slaughtered, beheaded, limbs broken, eyes gouged out, pregnant women having babies cut out of their stomachs, being burned to death, raped so violently bones are broken - some women rapped TO DEATH, etc. Sometimes evil masses need to be culled. Hamas is one of them. If we do nothing…they grow. They have long been indoctrinating school age children and turning them into evil killers as they grow up. Nobody likes war. Not one person here. Nobody likes civilian deaths (except the terrorist groups). We can’t completely cut off their money, they are funded by private donors, other countries, lots of ways money is coming in, but we can cut their lives down and show them that the world will not let them continue their terror.

I don't disagree. I am also saddened by the loss of any innocent lives. I just don't know how a nation removes a terrorist regime that hides in schools and among ordinary people? I would like to know that there is a different way.

Can I ask, is Hamas basically the government for Gaza? I am not being insensitive or meaning to insult the Palestinians. I am trying to make this make sense.

There is no way to totally destroy Hamas just as there was no way to totally destroy ISIS or Hezbollah. It is a global network, which is why other countries are concerned about their travel.

Israel can destroy Hamas as an entity on its border. The global network is a worldwide problem. Israel is going to obliterate Hamas' Gazan leadership, infrastructure, communications, etc. The global network isn't there problem, a safe border is.

Color me cynical....

- Israel has always had a communal approach to military service in the past. Everybody served- no exceptions. Everybody then becomes a life long reservist- no exceptions.

- But... everything changes. Evidently in recent years (well, before the terror attacks), a certain number of Israelis had dwindling enthusiasm for military service. Exemptions were then made easier to get- just to avoid head ache draftees.

- Netanyahu, however is a former Special Forces officer with a "get tough" image in regards to everything. Junior's absence is the polar opposite of that image.

In short..... something just does not seem right. Sure, he would be a nice target for HAMAS. But, there are ways around that:

- Junior is proudly serving in the Israeli navy. Alas, Junior's duty has placed him on a ship faaaar offshore keeping an eye out for anybody trying to sneak weapons to Hamas. Uhmm.... no, they have not found anything- at least not yet. You never know- right?

I understand your cynicism.

I really knew nothing about Israel or its government leaders until the horrific Hamas attack. The other day, I read an opinion piece in the WaPo that was written by a history professor at the University of Jerusalem. I won't link it, but his beautiful words are haunting because he said the issues that have deeply divided Israel were threatening their democracy and allowed Hamas to launch their attack. He still believes the nation will prevail against Hamas because the citizens are so united.
