Exactly!!!

On a human being scale...if you had a choice to either:

A. Live in abject TERROR from those who wish ( and have attempted to succeed...see 1400 + lives ) to annihilate you, or:

B. Wipe the TERRORISTS off the earth, so you and your families, as well as those around you, can live in peace.

I would choose B.

But....that is JMO

Peace
Bolded by me.
Ita.

And, wiping the terrorists does not mean they'd have no home to return to; instead, it'd mean their home was safer than it ever was before.
No one starving you and yours, depriving you of food , fuel, and medical supplies if you're injured, or dragging you off to sit in the hospital, kindergarten, or wherever -- to be used as human shields.
A safe and peaceful life at last !

Senior Israeli Officials have stated that Humanitarian Aid into the Gaza Strip will Drastically Increase over the coming Days and Weeks as the Ground Invasion makes additional Progress; this Aid will eventually include up to 100 Trucks a Day from Egypt that will contain Food, Water, and Medicine, however Fuel will still be Restricted until the IDF allows it.

I agree. The UN and other relief agencies have protected Hamas. They allowed bunkers and tunnels to be built below hospitals and schools.

They are part of the problem. I wish it were not so.

Moo...
Hamas has shielded communications cables that are buried deep in their tunnels They use their own landlines. There are a few people on Gaza who have satellite phones. (Mainly journalists). Israel plans to take out the satellites, but Hamas uses landlines.
Satellite phones have been around for a long time. They are used by people in remote areas with no cell services. (Boats and war zones for example, some wilderness types, people who climb Mt Everest etc )

Is that number really accurate? Who can verify the actual numbers of casualties?

I agree— questions have been raised, on both sides, of the accuracy of the death tolls reported. All I can find are the numbers reported from the various governments— Israeli officials on the one hand and Gaza Health officials on the other. I’m not sure how war time casualties are usually reported? This is from NPR, generally accepted as MSM from 10/26/23:

“The reported death toll in Gaza has now surpassed 7,000, the territory's health officials say. In Israel, more than 1,400 people died after the Oct. 7 surprise Hamas attack, according to Israeli officials.

Asked Wednesday about the reported death toll in Gaza, President Biden responded that he had "no notion that the Palestinians are telling the truth about how many people are killed."

"The Israelis should be incredibly careful to be sure that they're focusing on going after the folks that are propagating this war against Israel," he said, adding that "it's against their interest when that doesn't happen."

Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman (KBS) is expected to visit Washington on Monday for talks with senior Biden administration officials, three sources with knowledge of the trip told Axios.

What it matters: The visit has long been scheduled, the sources said, but it will take place just days after Israel expanded its ground operation in Gaza — an offensive Riyadh condemned on Saturday. It also comes as the U.S. and Saudi Arabia express concerns that the fighting between Israel and Hamas could widen into a regional war.

  • KBS, the brother of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) and the former ambassador to the U.S., is the highest-ranking Saudi official to visit Washington since the Biden administration assumed office.
Driving the news: KBS is expected to meet with White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Secretary of State Tony Blinken and several senators, the sources said.

CNN reporters describe eruption of activity near Israel-Gaza border

Fighter jets can be heard in the sky and huge flashes seen on the horizon in the direction of Gaza Saturday, according to a CNN team on the ground in Sderot, Israel.

"Today there was an eruption of activity ... Last night was strong, it was active, it was busy. Tonight, it seems a step up from that," CNN's Nic Robertson said in a live report around 11 p.m. local time (4 p.m. ET).

On top of the sound of airstrikes, Robertson said he is hearing artillery fire into Gaza and heavy machine gun fire from his location.

CNN's Jeremy Diamond, reporting from the Israeli city of Ashkelon, said explosions on Saturday night were the loudest he's heard in weeks.

"It made the room shake ... and we are 6 miles from the border with Gaza," Diamond said during a live report.

Israel’s kibbutz communities look to rebuild after devastation of Hamas attack

Kibbutz Re'im.
The Re'im kibbutz.Alexander Smith / NBC News

RE’IM/BE’ERI, Israel — The tractors that recently dug graves are being prepared to farm again.

Three weeks after the unprecedented Hamas attack in which residents of kibbutzim were tortured and butchered, some survivors are returning in an attempt to rebuild.

Their ability to do so forms a question mark over one of Israel’s foundational movements and whether these collective, often-leftist communities that were central to the establishment of the Jewish state can ever truly recover.

They must try to do so while processing their grief and horror, while the battle raging over Gaza just a few miles away lights up the skies and provides a cacophony of booms and thuds through the night, and while in some streets the stink of death still lingers.

That's a valid fear, but I honestly think Israel is doing all they can to avoid that.

Israel said to target Syrian posts in response to earlier shelling

Syrian opposition media says Israel has targeted Syrian Army posts, and pro-Iranian militia positions, in the Quneitra area of southern Syria.

This is reportedly in response to shelling toward the Golan Heights several hours ago.

The report is not confirmed by the IDF.

Police temporarily close New York's Brooklyn Bridge due to large pro-Palestinian demonstration

Police temporarily shut down all lanes of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York on Saturday after a large group of pro-Palestinian demonstrators started heading in that direction.

The bridge, which connects Manhattan with the borough, was closed in both directions, according to an alert from the local government's NotifyNYC service.

The rally started at Brooklyn Museum at 3 p.m. ET, continued in front of Barclays Center arena at 4 p.m. ET and ended at the Brooklyn Bridge, according to a post by Within Our Lifetime, which promoted the demonstrations.

The rally started at Brooklyn Museum at 3 p.m. ET,
IMO this rally is a disgrace.

I used to go to the Brooklyn Museum every month. They always had interesting special exhibits on a rotating basis.

I will never go again. That is a tax-payer funded building. It is in the heart of a very Orthodox, actually a Lubavitcher neighborhood. Those are an idiosyncratic sect, the ones you will see with men in black hats and clothing.

Saturday, today, is the Jewish Sabbath.

After shul (synagogue), the ultra religious do no work, carry no money, do not use electricity or have entertainment. They believe The Old Testament and the command to keep the Sabbath day holy.

Therefore, it’s a day when families like to stroll outside together.

There have been warnings now for days that Jewish people should stay inside, due to possible violence from the demonstrators. This was a deliberate provocation.

Jews have to hide inside again! Like Anne Frank.

In NYC!

It’s dangerous and insulting and provocative, and shouldn’t have been permitted on public property.

IMO

It actually looked like there were quite a few Orthodox Jewish people supporting the rally, if that makes a difference. Someone posted the article up thread— will try to find it.

The International Committee of the Red Cross has called for an immediate de-escalation of the conflict in Gaza, deploring the loss of life and what it said was an intolerable level of suffering.

The ICRC is the guardian of the Geneva conventions, the laws of war, and since the Hamas attack on Israel three weeks ago it has repeatedly called for the release of all hostages, and appealed for access to Gaza for aid supplies.

The ICRC rarely comments publicly on the way a particular war is being waged – it believes quiet reminders to the warring parties are the best way to encourage respect for international law.

But late on Saturday night the Red Cross issued an urgent warning. "Two million civilians were trapped in Gaza with nowhere to flee," it said, "amid massive bombardment and a military siege". This, the ICRC statement continued, was a "catastrophic failing that the world must not tolerate".

It also condemned the use of civilians as human shields and repeated its call for the release of hostages.

"But the absolute priority is the preservation of life, and that means allowing sustained deliveries of aid, and access for aid agencies," said the statement.
