Save the Children says number of children killed in Gaza in last three weeks surpassed number of children killed in war zones since 2019

Save the Children is calling on a ceasefire following the reported killings of over 3,200 children in Gaza by the Israeli military amid its expanded military operations in recent weeks.

The global humanitarian organization said on Sunday:

Children make up more than 40% of the 7,703 people killed in Gaza, and more than a third of all fatalities across the occupied Palestinian territory and Israel. With a further 1,000 children reported missing in Gaza assumed buried under the rubble, the death toll is likely much higher.
It noted that the number of children reported killed in Gaza in the last three weeks has surpassed the number of children killed across the world’s conflict zones since 2019.

Save the Children’s country director Jason Lee called for a ceasefire, saying:

One child’s death is one too many, but these are grave violations of epic proportions. A ceasefire is the only way to ensure their safety. The international community must put people before politics – every day spent debating is leaving children killed and injured. Children must be protected at all times, especially when they are seeking safety in schools and hospitals.

One of the chief problems with a two-state “solution” is that the Palestinians do not want two states. They want Israel extinguished. Period.

A thousand deals have been attempted and the PLO and others of their ilk never compromise.

For all those saying Israel has only existed since 1948, I would like to remind again that Jews have lived in Israel for millennia. Remember again that Jesus was a Jewish rabbi 2000 years ago, and that Jews were there long before Jesus came.

Josephus the historian wrote a history of the Jews and he was a near contemporary of Jesus.

Jews derived their name from the ancient area of Judea.

NO ONE in Israel wanted this war. They just want to live peaceably on their land.

What would you do if your family was tortured and slaughtered with no warning? Would you shrug and yawn and forget about it?

Israel has given advance notice and warning after warning by all possible means to urge the citizens in Gaza to leave for their safety.

Did Hamas do that?

IMO
You are so right, @Arkay. One of the biggest problems with the protests of these so called “students” is they do not know their history. They are listening to biased professors who pick and choose what history they will teach. Many folks are very happy that some of the biggest donors to our colleges and universities are withdrawing their donations due to their failure to condemn terrorist acts and to condone anti IsraelI protests.
Unfortunately, those donations are just a drop in the bucket. These same institutions receive huge donations from many of the Middle East countries who support terrorists and they don’t want to jeopardize that cash flow.

Very true.
Also, unfortunately, they are taught this mythology at home.

I have had thousands of Muslim students over 25 years of teaching 8th grade in NYC. Most are from Pakistan, some from Yemen, some from other countries.

Among those kids were some of my very favorite students. The girls used to become emotionally attached to me, because I gave them recognition in a very male-dominated culture. I have hundreds of letters from these students, many of whom called me “Mommy.”

Yet….twice I saw instances of what they’d learned at home. Once a lovely girl insisted that Abraham Lincoln was Muslim, because she said his name was “Ibrahim,” and she could not be persuaded otherwise.

Once, a very sweet girl, deeply attached to me, cooked and brought me vegetable samosas as a treat. BUT she used to praise Osama Bin-Laden. She would never harm anyone, but was taught at home that he was a hero.

If this ideology could be weeded out, we could have peace.

On a better note, I once had a Pakistani girl named Noor. She won a Holocaust contest with a poem about seeing the Holocaust through Muslim eyes. It was beautiful. Hillary Clinton was a NY Senator then; she attended our ceremony and gave Noor her prize. Hillary also said she’d have that poem enshrined in the Congressional Record, I think it was.

O/T @OldCop I adore that your signature quotes Dostoyevsky. Crime and Punishment is one of my favorites in Russian Lit.

Gallant indicates to hostages’ families that ground incursion needed to pressure Hamas over their return

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is the latest senior Israeli official to meet with family members of the hostages currently being held by terrorists in Gaza.

“The ground operation is intertwined with the effort to return the hostages,” Gallant tells the families, according to a statement from the Defense Ministry.

“If there is no military pressure on Hamas, nothing will progress,” he says.

“We are fighting animals, not people. It is a complex journey, with hopes and disappointments. I am determined to win the war and returning the hostages is part of the victory.”

Palestinian medics say Israel bombing area around Gaza hospital

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society says the Israeli military has repeatedly bombed around its hospital in northern Gaza, causing damage and putting civilians at risk.

“The Israeli army deliberately continues to launch rockets directly near Al-Quds hospital with the aim of forcing medical staff, displaced individuals and patients to evacuate the hospital,” the medical organization says in a statement.

“This has caused significant damage to hospital departments and exposed residents and patients to suffocation,” the statement adds.

Israel has called on all non-combatants in northern Gaza to move south as it intensifies operations against Hamas terrorists in the area.

It has also accused Hamas of using numerous Gaza hospitals as bases of operation, using them as human shields.

So I see a lot of people, leaders, countries, protests about Israel needing to stop the bombing because it's harming innocent civilians, but where are the people pleading for HAMAS to release hostages, stop sending rockets to Israel, and to surrender.. leave their tunnels and surrender so all their innocent civilians won't be killed because Israel isn't after civilians, they are after HAMAS and their tunnels and weapons. HAMAS has the power to end this so why isn't anyone on TV asking for them to surrender?

Wow so Israel isn't just wiping out the hospital? They are attempting to get HAMAS to leave or the doctors and patients to leave so they can eradiate HAMAS? Sounds like they are trying hard NOT to hit innocent civilians and yet they are repeatedly attacked for targeting the hospital.

If Israel wanted to level the hospital and all the innocent people inside it, they would have done it already. Instead they are continuing to ask them to leave the hospital so they can remove the threat that is in and under it.

JERUSALEM, Oct 29 (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday took a jab at his intelligence chiefs on the X platform, saying they never warned him Hamas was planning its wide-scale attack on Oct. 7, but later retracted his comments and issued an apology.

He should of listened to intelligence instead of kissing Putin s behind. IMO JMO

Israel's military describes fighting with Hamas on the ground in northern Gaza Strip

From CNN's Amir Tal

The Israeli military is continuing ground operations in the northern Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement Sunday.

Israeli "aircraft, guided by IDF troops, struck Hamas military structures, some of which contained Hamas terrorists," the military said. "In addition, anti-tank missile launching posts, observation posts and military infrastructure were struck."

"Terrorists who shot at the soldiers were killed, as well as terrorists who were identified on the coastline in the Gaza Strip near the area of Zikim," the IDF said.

Remember: Israel says the next stage of its war with Hamas has begun after expanding its ground operations in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Saturday that the second stage of the war against Hamas has begun, with the goal of destroying the group's armed wing and government, and returning hostages held in Gaza home.

The IDF launched its offensive after the devastating October 7 attacks by Hamas in Israel.

Israeli troops have advanced over two miles into northern Gaza, video suggests

From CNN's Paul P. Murphy

Israeli troops appear to have advanced over two miles into Gaza, according to a CNN analysis of video published by an Israeli media outlet.

The troops in the video, taken on Saturday, are seen putting an Israeli flag on a Gaza resort hotel's roof. CNN geolocated the video to an area just over two miles from the Gaza-Israeli border.

"Soldiers of the 52 Battalion of the 401 Brigade are waving the Israeli flag in the heart of Gaza, by the beach," a soldier is heard saying in the video, taken several miles north of central Gaza City. "We will not forgive nor forget, and we’ll not stop until the victory."

The video is one of the first glimpses into where Israeli ground forces have been, and what they've been doing, during the expanded ground operations in Gaza.

A communications blackout in Gaza has significantly hampered the flow of information out of it, though providers said service was gradually being restored Sunday.

The video was published by Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom. CNN has asked the Israel Defense Forces for comment on the video, and why soldiers are installing an Israeli flag on the hotel roof.

On the ground: A CNN team in the Israeli city of Sderot, near the Gaza Strip perimeter, heard machine gun fire at regular intervals Sunday.

The gunfire was heard from the northern part of the enclave, close to the border, while the Israel Defense Forces continued to fire artillery rounds and mortars from outside the border further south.

Earlier on Sunday, IDF tanks and armored personnel vehicles were seen approaching the border while helicopters, drones and fighter jets flew overhead.

A large column of vehicles was seen north of the strip. Staging grounds further away from the border that were full of tanks and armored vehicles just a few days ago are now nearly empty, suggesting the troops have moved closer to the perimeter.

CNN's Ivana Kottasová contributed reporting to this post from Sderot, Israel.

So far at least 19 Rockets have been launched towards Northern Israel from Lebanon today with 3 towards the Town of Be'eri, 6 towards the City of Qiryat Shemona, and 10 towards the City of Nahariyya; a Majority of the Rockets were Intercepted or landed in Open-Areas however at least 2 Impacted several Homes in Qiryat Shemona causing Structural Damage.

A MQ-9A “Reaper” Attack and Surveillance Drone with the U.S. Air Force is currently Airborne over the Southern Gaza Strip.

This Drone and several others have been seen off the Coast of the Gaza Strip for the last 24-48 Hours though this appears to be the First Time that it has entered Israeli Airspace over Gaza.

More news at link but just snipped this...

IDF eliminates terror cell attempting attack

Israeli soldiers killed approximately 20 Hamas terrorists who emerged from a tunnel in the northern Gaza Strip and tried to attack them. A security source tells i24NEWS that intelligence efforts are being made to prepare IDF soldiers for threats on the ground, such as the entrances of terror tunnels.

** My question is... why aren't innocent Palestinians allowed to escape through these tunnels?! And, of course the answer is... Hamas won't let them!!

An Ominous Video was released today by Hezbollah appearing to show the Secretary-General of the Terror Group, Hassan Nasrallah walking in front a Hezbollah Poster, possibly indicating that some sort of Announcement or Statement from him is coming.

.@khamenei_ir we heard it’s Hamas leader's Yahya Sinwar’s birthday today.

What did you get him this year?

A) Millions of dollars for terrorists' salaries
B) Rockets & weapons
C) Another mile of tunnels
D) All of the above

Palestinian civilians ‘didn’t deserve to die’ in Israeli strikes, US chief security adviser says

Jake Sullivan’s comments are a marked softening of the Biden administration’s hardline support of Israel

Thousands of Palestinians killed in Israel’s attacks on Gaza over the past three weeks “did not deserve to die”, according to the US national security adviser, in a marked softening of the Biden administration’s hardline support of Israel.

In an interview with ABC News on Sunday, Jake Sullivan, the White House’s chief security adviser, said Hamas is “hiding” behind civilians but that doesn’t lessen Israel’s “responsibility under international humanitarian law and the laws in war to do all in their power to protect the civilian population”.

“There have been deaths of thousands of Palestinian civilians in this conflict and that is an absolute tragedy … Those people did not deserve to die. Those people deserve to live lives of peace and safety and dignity,” Sullivan told ABC’s This Week.
