I am holding out hope that it is not the BF. Broken glass on the floor could explain the cuts on his knuckles as he was moving her to the floor. I don't really expect them to find any DNA under her nails because typically the victim scratches themselves when they are being choked/strangled trying to get the cord/rope whatever off their throat. Of course that is assuming the perp used something and not their bare hands. jmo

I don't have the links at my finger tips...

But... I have read a couple of accounts...

1.) The couple lived together

2.) But....the BF didn't have a key...

If this is true ... It raises more questions regarding the status of their relationship right before she was found deceased...

JMO...

It have been stated that Ashley lived alone with her dog Scout.

Ashley's father has spoken to the press.

The grief-stricken father of Ashley Olsen – the 35-year-old American woman found strangled to death in Florence, Italy – has spoken for the first time of his ordeal.
Walter Olsen, an art professor in the same city who lives round the corner from his daughter's apartment, called her 'beautiful and creative' and said he had faith in the murder investigation.
He spoke out as police sources said they were confident that the seedy nightclub where she was last seen by her friends was the key to finding her murderer, who an autopsy found used a belt or rope to kill her.
There was no evidence of a struggle, prosecutors said.

Additionally, it sounds like Italian authorities do not consider the boyfriend a suspect at this time.

Detectives have also cleared entirely her boyfriend, Italian-American artist Federico Fiorentini, 42, has a watertight alibi, and confirmed that he is not a suspect.

The investigation into the murder is now firmly concentrated in one direction.
Detectives have narrowed the investigation down to a single primary 'trail', a police source said tonight.
According to investigators' leading hypothesis, Olsen met her killer after her friends left her alone at the notorious Monte Carla club.
Officers are paying special attention to the club, the source said, taking into consideration the establishment's reputation and the clientele it attracts.

Police believe that Olsen left the club alone at dawn on Friday following an argument with her friends, and that she met her killer either at the club or on her way home.

Good article from The Daily Beast with more detailed information.

Interesting thoughts and observations regarding her boyfriend.

Fiorentini moved and touched the body, meaning there is no forensic record of the scene before he entered, and no certainty about the exact location and state of her body immediately after the murder. If her bones are broken, did he do it when he tried to revive her or did the assailant do it? Or both? Perhaps more importantly, his interference now justifies his DNA on her body.

But within 24 hours of the discovery of Olsen’s body, investigators hinted that Fiorentini’s alibi was solid, even though they haven’t named an exact time of death and certainly have not said they have excluded anyone from their investigation. Some speculate that it is an attempt to trick him, an oft-used tool in the investigative arsenal of most Italian detectives

More news.

The American artist murdered in Florence took part in a 'consensual, erotic sex game' before she was strangled to death, police said today.
Ashley Olsen, 35, died when she was strangled with a USB wire or cord, an autopsy has found.
The development came as police also identified a potential suspect seen with her on CCTV from outside her apartment.
The man, who is thought to be a drug dealer and may be of African origin, was apparently already known to the victim.

Giulia, a bartender at the Montecarla who saw the victim at the club said: 'She was a chilled-out person, I'd even call her delicate.
'She came into the club at 4:30am, had a drink and left at 5:30am. She was tense and before leaving she had a difference of opinion with a female friend.'

After leaving by herself, Olsen met a man after, arranging the liaison via mobile phone.
A witness saw them together and described the man to the police, and the two were captured on CCTV walking together to Olsen's chic apartment.

Wow. That's a lot of new info.

Also from your link:

"Detectives have now pieced together a timelines of her last hours which shows that she spent time at Montecarla, a sleazy bar and nightclub which has been repeatedly linked to drugs in the early hours of Friday morning.

After leaving by herself, Olsen met a man after, arranging the liaison via mobile phone.
A witness saw them together and described the man to the police, and the two were captured on CCTV walking together to Olsen's chic apartment."

I would guess an arrest would be made shortly then. Thanks for posting this.

What a mess. Sounds like things weren't going great for poor Ashley - an argument with her boyfriend and then an argument with a friend before leaving the club.

As an aside, I don't understand the bartender saying "she was a chilled out person, I'd even call her delicate". To me, "delicate" means fragile, vulnerable, on the edge, ie the total opposite of chilled out. Maybe it has a different meaning in the US, can anyone clarify?

Often see a person who murders friend/spouse leaves the crime scene and then returns later with someone, or requests someone to let into residence where they then "discover" the body.

I am still stuck on the fact that the Serbian club owner said the CCTV wasn't working outside his club. That just seems far too coincidental to me. I am left wondering now if perhaps someone from that club had been watching her and waiting for the right moment to make a move. They could have watched her meetup with the African man and followed her into her building. I just don't see a drug dealer doing this. Given the nature of the crime it seems very personal, IMO. To me it says obsession, jealous retaliation or a real disregard for women. I look forward to a suspect's name being released soon. MOO.

Yes...

but it sounds like I had the incorrect information that they lived together...

Seems they had separate apartments...

You have some interesting points here..

but I imagine locales like the Monte Carla club would choose NOT to have working CCTV's at their place of business...

to protect the privacy of their clientele...

I imagine many of the clientele would NOT wish to make their visits public...

How in the world have they determined that it was a "consensual" game???? They don't even have a time of death! And really, what difference does this make? It feels as if LE is walking on the edge of victim blaming to me. MOO

To me as well. And they have no way of knowing it was consensual unless they have video of it taking place, which is very unlikely. I would hope for an investigation sans judgement. MOO.

Agree. How would an autopsy yield such a result.
