I think what Narla said was she thinks the idea of virgin birth is crazy to her.

Everyone's beliefs are crazy to someone else - virgin birth, evolving from a monkey, a blue diety - any of it can seem crazy. I think the trick is not saying so - while remembering that what you believe may seem completely crazy to another, completely reasonable person.

Narla calls it like she sees it. Not everyone buys the virgin birth. Personally, I am not a Christian, but we have miraculous birth in my tradtion too, so I have no problem with it.

People would likely call many of the beliefs in my tradition crazy too and I do not consider that rude. Ignorant maybe lol.

Yet you consider it rude that your friend gets emails about Christmas! I don't understand why one's okay, but the other isn't. You want sensitivity from Christians but insensitivity from nonbelievers is fine with you. You can't have it both ways.

I don't understand your statement. I don't expect any sensitivity or kindness from Christians. Nor do I expect it from anyone else.

I do expect my co-workers to not shove their Christmas practice down my co-workers throat when she has been telling them for ten years to leave her alone due to her religious beliefs as a Christian that Christmas is a pagan holiday.

I believe in God, but not the Bible, and believe me... I've been called waaaay worse things than crazy!!

No Buddhist complained about the "Buddha is a make shift god" post. What would have happened if one did? Ridicule most likely.

Because all of this "Merry Christmas" stuff has nothing to do with celebrating a religious holiday. It really has to do with prejudice against others' beliefs.
That's how I see it or else there wouldn't be a problem with wishing people a Happy Holiday and celebrating our stuff privately as we see fit.

Maybe you are right, Csds. What really sickens ME about all of this "war on Christmas" and "Hooray! WalMart's calling it Christmas again!!" is the fact that in my opinion, it's pandering on WalMart's part. Nothing more, nothing less.

The materialism, the greed, the "one big commercial nightmare" that X-mas has become is repugnant to me.

I would agree. I think it's ridiculous when I hear people discussing how much they spend and how they try to compete to put more and more under the tree while some people are literally starving. I do not have any Christian friends who celebrate in a religious way. It's all about the tree and the gifts.

Im not a Christian nor am I offended by Merry Christmas or how anyone celebrates it, markets it or shouts it from the roof top. it dosent impact my life in anyway. I put up a tree, gather the family and enjoy each other. It brings out the best and the worst in people and has been and likely will forever be part of the human experience.

because an interest group whined loud enough about it and Walmart pandered to their demands and lost customers. They are more dependent on seasonal profit this year. Its about the bottem line. Whats best for Walmart
