Jailhouse Milestone for Casey

Just out of curiosity, what happens if she is found not guilty after being in so long? I think she will be found guilty, but I'm wondering what Florida does in that case - compensation, etc? If she is found guilty, does this time count towards her sentence in Florida, if she doesn't get the DP (which I don't personally think she will)?

(I should likely just Google these things, but I am curious...)

Compensation? She would get no compensation. She is an accused murderer. She is being held without bond on charges of First Degree Murder. It's how the system works. She has a right to a trial. She chose to waive her rights to a speedy trial. If she is found "Not Guilty" she will simply be released.

Isn't going to happen though, imo.

IF she is found Guilty of First Degree Murder, I do not see her getting anything less than LWOP or the Death Penalty. Time served would not matter because she would have no chance to ever get out of prison. NOW, if there happens to be a deal made... let's say 50yrs to life with a possibility of parole after so many odd years, I believe she would be given the time she has already been in jail as "time served", but I don't see than happening either.

Hmmm.........well, first thing that would happen is that another sleazy attorney would be at her beck and call to sue the state.

Cindy would want to proclaim a national "Casey Anthony Day", have her fitted for a crown, and would be fielding all kinds of media interviews to get the best deal that could be had, for, all of them.

Then, Casey would get her RV and be nothing but a stream of gas vapors as she drives off into the sunset...........ahhhhh.....

How could she "sue?" She is an accused murderer. A Grand Jury indicted her on First Degree Murder charges. She has a right to a speedy trial... she waived that right. Everything that has happened, her being indicted, arrested, and held without bond is 100% legal. They have treated Casey no different than any other accused murderer facing the same charges.

I agree with everything else though.

Oh, I'm sure that she and her mother and father would think of something.
If they can't come up with a legit reason to sue, well heck, they'd just make one or two or three up !!!:floorlaugh:

If she receives life without parole, would she be released into the general population or would her notoriety/safety lend her to solitary confinement anyway?
If she is in solitary confinement, would that mean she couldn't do the laundry or other work duties required for the general pop?

I don't believe she would be in solitary confinement. She is only "notorious" in her head....not anybody else. She might be housed somewhere where there aren't as many meanies (yeah right), but she would not be segregated.

I don't know - I think it would take some time to put her in general population. I seriously do not think the prison system wants a dead KC, as much as she is disliked. She is not the same as the priest who was stomped to death in his cell. I just don't think so.

But I am sure there are those who disagree.

I think we were talking about suing only if she is hurt in prison by another inmate. I can see Cindy doiing that. She needs something to take her mind off the fact that she did NOT protect Caylee. The whole thing is horrible. I don't know how she is living with this.

By my rough calculations Caylee lived 896 days........so soon ICA will have served more time than her daughter lived.

I agree.

Susan Smith is in general pop isn't she? Seems like she has had her share of difficulties, claiming rape by guards, etc., even Charles Manson has contact on occasion with other inmates. While I worked for the CDC he was attacked with acid. OJ Simpson was seriously assaulted and hospitalized for a couple weeks not long ago. So it seems realistic that she would be in danger even with a DP conviction. Jeffrey Dahmer was murdered in prison.....I'll bet we could come up with quite a list of high profile inmates who have been assaulted in prison. It may be a jailhouse milestone to have survived without an assault this long in custody!

For those curious about what life is like is prison and even on death row there are some interesting videos on you tube. There is some even about death row, I was amazed. Evidently some inmates record them and someone posts the vids for them.

So do people usually send a card on this occasion? I didn't see any in the card section at the drug store. Is CA proud of Casey for setting the record? I'm sure she could spin it as a positive somehow.
