I guess I am just at a loss for words to spend tens of thousands for an extra 1.25 years. In all reality, was it worth TENS of thousands- or even 10 thousand for a judge to say, can I give him an additonal 1.25?

What happened to law being set?

Was there at least some kind of precedent this will never happen to another Tawni, or another WW will do more than 2.5-3.75?

This is not directed at you, believe.....

for .75 difference... really what was the wait for?

3 seasons... just three..... Not even enough time for the earth to circle the sun once...

Tawni, at 17 lost what 60 years of HER life ( conservatively)... forget her family, and forget her possibly becoming a mother....

I guess I just don't understand why the judge could not have given WW the 3.75 the first time she heard the case.

Oh, I realize you are not frustrated with me, but this was precedence setting even if it is hard to believe. Parole violations do not warrant extended time-but isn't any time better than nothing? And now Tawni's whole story has been read into a public record. Finally, it is a matter of public record what was done to her and how she suffered and who caused it.

The jury had no idea he would get so little time and why-they were appalled. The judge could not legally extend his time in September without a risk of being overturned. So rather than let the guy off with his minimum time, she took the ballsy step of seating a jury of his peers and having them decide if this case was something different than your standard flight from parole. They did, and now it will be easier to attach additional years to criminals who have been paper pushed from one jurisdiction to another....which is ultimately what happened here.

I tried to get this across in December-the fact that it would be so expensive and how unheard of this was. I am glad the judge took the step, even if the victory was in name only.

There will never be enough justice in this case-not unless Walker was charged with counts directly related to what we now know about what happened, if we even know what happened. This can never occur, with the EXCEPTION of the federal charges IF they are filed.

Well, I suppose we should be thrilled that it went the way it did today. He got the max that was on the table and it did set a new precedent. I guess it's just too personal for us now to be satisfied with anything less than a murder conviction. Too much to ask under the circumstances. Who knows where it will turn next? If the Feds get involved and LDJ comes forward with a truth other than what she's given so far, it could get some legs!!

Thank you, believe09, for taking so much of your time to keep us in the loop. I'm grateful to you.

thanks for the update believe. I'm grateful but still not happy, even though we were informed. So..... what are the chances of federal charges then? Who makes that decision?

feel the same way with the same questions!!! I sure hope they can continue with more charges! It would be nice if they could put the story out more and see if there is any more girls that have came across this monsters path .. (since he's in jail, they might be more comfortable to talk!)

TY believe. I think we are all a bit frustrated. Two questions. Will WW serve the full amount? or will he do say half, and get off for 'good behavior'? The thought of him doing a minute less than 3.75 makes me ill.

Will we find out if the feds will go forward with charges? Thanks!

I talked to my dad who is in Phx for two weeks. (lucky dog! He tells me it is in the 70's all week and he hasn't seen a single cloud in the sky for 5 days! Seems a world away being -13 and feels like -32 here... brrrrr)

He checked the newspaper and did not see anything, but will bring weds and thurs papers home for me to double check.....

Was there any media that we know of regarding the trial and ruling?

thanks.

My bold...in answer to the first, let's hope that one can not be given time off for good behavior when one was on the run for 9 years continuing to be a criminal after skipping out of one's parole. I am, quite frankly, afraid to ask.

I do not believe that there was a lick of media there which means that my very first press release was a total disaster. In the end, it didn't matter in terms of sentencing the, ummm, perp, but I feel like an idiot that I could not come up with anyone.

My bold-the FBI makes that decision. I will let you all know if it is in the works and if that info was shared with me....

It's so not your fault, believe09!!! It's just not front-page news anymore - at least outside of here! I'm not really worried about "good behavior," but I do worry about time served. If he walks before the Feds can get hold of him, I fully expect him to disappear for another 9 years. That's my fear right now. It's obviously too late for our Tawni, but the thought of another 9 years worth of young girls falling victim to this [link removed] makes me want to barf! Clearly, this leopard will not change his spots and he's a slippery MF!
