CNN is reporting smoke coming from reactor #1 and a hydrogen explosion from reactor #3.

Oh, that's not good-- what's on fire?

Just got this CNN alert in my email:

-- NHK: Japan's nuclear safety and industrial agency report explosion at
Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant's No. 3 reactor.

Hi Peeples, CNN had an expert on radiation as a guest today. He said if one is exposed they can take an iodine pill as long as it is taken in the 24 hours after exposure. He said all it takes is one pill which would be for light exposure from a cloud. He said the radiation doesn't stay aloft very long. Later I heard there are many variables, like the amount of radiation you are exposed to and for how long.

I remember reading about the bombs we dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima and how deadly the radiation was. It never hurts to look back and I found this:

Dang it those broke my heart :(

What humans can do to one another... never ceases to amaze me

I'm not sure, yet. They said white smoke is coming from reactor #1.
Still getting details.

NHK Live reporting is saying no Tsunami has occurred. The latest aftershock was a 6.2 and not powerful enough to cause a Tsunami. The Tsunami warning remains in effect for safety reasons but any waves should have been seen by now and they have not been seen.

Thanks, when they were reporting I could hear the sirens.. but maybe they are just setting them off to keep people away form the coast just in case...

Anderson just said they found 2,000 bodies just today in the prefecture around Sendai. It hasn't been added to the death toll yet.

Quiche, thank you so much for posting this!!!!

I too thank you Quiche for posting that. It seems unbelievable to me that there was no warning for this. Isn't the tsunami center in Palmer Alaska for the Ring of Fire? Maybe that is the earthquake center.

Hope, that is the only word I can think of, that somehow God will spare these people from more destruction.

I know peeples!!! I have thought about the bombs we dropped to end WWII and that always broke my heart!!! I understood the need to end the war, but still...... how horrible. I think one of the things I love about all of you here at WS's is the fact that we truly do see the most horrible things the world has to offer.... and we somehow remain compassionate. HUGS to all of you, and to all of our brothers and sisters in Japan tonight. As soon as an opportunity arises, I want to help. Please let things settle down and let the wonderful Japanese people and the world get things back in order!

My son is watching this on CNN peoples. He said that the bodies were found around the area of Sendai.

(He's almost 18 and that's what he's saying he heard reported by A. Cooper).

The bodies are just being left where they are...:( Not even a proper burial for them right now

That is bad right.. leads to disease and stuff??

The NHK reporter on the live feed sounds like a taped looped. Same thing over and over again. Weird???

It does but right now civil defense and the military are in triage right now. Seeking out live victims and removing them to proper hospitals or shelters. The burials will take place but the first priority is finding live victims.
