better watch it JBean - Gilbert Gottfried got fired for "making references" just today.I was going to make a pope reference but thought better of it.
That's what I'm getting at JBean, I think if they put up a simple side by side chart, it would calm people down. Every site you look at uses different terms for levels and it's quite confusing for most people. IDK why they don't make it simple.
My post was really clumsy and I am sorry. Not a comparison of the ACCIDENTS, only the radiation levels. Plain and simple, nuttin' fancy.
I agree. I think people just want to hear someone in charge and with knowledge tell us what is expected to happen. I'm not going to hold them to it. I just want someone to brief the American people on what's happening, what's being done to keep us safe and what is expected at this point. If there are containment units around the cores that are expected to contain the radiation, then tell us that. If there's no way for the radiation to travel thousands of miles and affect the West Coast then tell us that. It would sure go a long way to calming people down.
Radiation hot line open for concerned Californians; health officials reassert that there's no risk expected
snip
What were being told is that there is no threat to California at this time, said Mike Sicilia, a spokesman for the California Department of Public Health. Its a matter of distance. Dangerous radioactivity could not cross the 5,0000 miles of the Pacific without petering out.

Potassium iodide poses a risk to pregnant and nursing women, those with thyroid problems, allergies to iodine and shellfish, Sicilia said.
We are not recommending it. Dont take it. Its useless, he said.

CNN......Breaking news, New Fire At Nuclear Plant, NHK: smoke could be rising from #3 or #4.
My post was really clumsy and I am sorry.
What I was guessing was that maybe if one event had a radiation level of 10 and one event had a radiation level of 9, one might assume that the 10 was worse, but that may not be the case;due to other variables. So, possibly, posting side by side levels could be misleading or subject to misintepretation. I have zero idea I am just brainstorming an answer to your question.

Well sadly that UCLA student's rant about Asian people actually surpassed the google or youtube hits on the situation in Japan! This issue has been number one for the past few days of course and that [unusual person]'s ridiclous youtube was the first thing to pass it up. How embarrassing for mankind. You know, I've never found Gottfried particularly funny and certainly he could have showed more restraint over the past few days.
But that's what makes funny people funny: they walk the line between good taste and bad. We have to expect them to step over that line every once in awhile.
Somehow, I think Gottfried's tweets are way down the list of the world's problems this week...
