He really is good. She was awesome as well. I did not understand really much of what she said but I could tell (IMO) she sure seemed on top of it which is impressive at least to me. I would not think that would be common knowledge to most.
He had a really good point at the end there. WHY hasn't anyone tried to send remote cameras down in there to actually see WTH is going on?

If those workers are gone - I sure ain't going to bed - something is going to happen tonight.

IF (and that is a HUGE IF) the workers have "left the building" and no one is manning or maintaining operations at this plant - how long before something really big happens? I don't think it would be too long - the reactors are in dire straits now and without maintaining anything - they could go rather quick - at least I would think.

The guy on MSNBC is really good right now - explaining the hydrogen explosions and how they happeneds.

I agree, Wise----I like that he is calm, explains stuff clearly. But on the other hand, what he is saying is actually quite frightening. I have not thought about the pools themselves that hold the spent fuel rods. I sure hope there are no leaks/cracks in them.

Gee, I bet they're thrilled.

Sorry. Don't mean to be facetious. Just sickened by the whole situation.

I thought the exact same thing. They are heroes, for certain.

I'm a little scared to go to bed... I've been waking up with a start, followed by dread of news. Tomorrow will be the worst yet.

http://www.earthcam.com/japan/tokyo/

Live cam in Tokyo. An EQ of 6.0 recorded, off coast of Honshu **this is the one a few pages back**.

The vid cam is surreal...I can't see too many people walking around, and while I don't know if it's always like that, it's just kind of...spooky. KWIM?

I will feel better when we have more sources saying they are going back in. Call me a cynic....again, lol.

So far MSNBC is not saying that the workers have gone back in.

Can you imagine? They tell these workers to get out---if it was me I would be thinking, yes, now I get to see my family and maybe, if I am lucky I won't die from the radiation I KNOW I have been exposed to. Then----45 minutes later----they are told to go back in. These heroic, brave people----what an example they are setting for all of us.

This is higher than we already heard, isn't it?

http://english.chosun.com/site/data/html_dir/2011/03/16/2011031601328.html

Excerpt:
NHK said 965.5 mSv of radiation per hour was detected near the No.2 reactor on Tuesday morning. Around 8:30 a.m., the dose reportedly soared to 8,217 mSv.

and

At doses of 4,000 to 6,000 mSv, there is an 80 to 100 percent chance that body temperature will rise to 38 to 40 degrees Celsius in an hour or two, in addition to vulnerability to infection, bleeding, and hair loss; and there is a 20 to 70 percent chance of death in a month or two. If exposed to 8,000 mSv, those affected become semiconscious and die within one or two weeks.

I have a live feed from Reuters---and there have been at least 3 posts (2 from reuters and 1 from a "regular" person) that the workers have been allowed back in as of 0230 GMT. Supposedly that is when the radiation levels went down to "safe".

PS I really like this Rachel Morrow lady on MSNBC. She keeps saying that we need information. Right on, sister!!

I said earlier today that I wonder just how many case of radiation poisoning they have over there. We wouldn't know because they certainly aren't going to leak that out - but I can bet they have some with all that has happened at that plant.

I have been looking for a couple of people who could be anywhere in the world...Japan has been discussed as one of the places one of the persons might have had an interest in going to...Im not a praying man but I hope they didnt go to Japan...that means all I have researched may have been washed out to sea...

The Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC that some of you are watching now, is a REPEAT of an earlier show from tonight.

Several sources reported that the workers went back in.

I agree... And it's nice to have others to "talk" to about these issues when everyone else is either tired of hearing about them or not really interested. Thanks, guys. :)
