For those of you concerned about that dog who was guarding the injured dog, they have both been rescued... and are alive, the injured dog is at a vet clinic and the dog that was guarding it is at a shelter. This reported on MSNBC.

er, NO. Vitamins can be dangerous when you take to many of them. Not a good idea. Some vitamins have lethal levels. I'm not a Dr., nor do I play one on tee vee, but I know vitamins can be poison.

That's correct. Take care when consuming above the recommended daily levels, because the liver and kidneys can be severely damaged by them. Toxicity can occur with D especially; so be very, very careful if you take more than 1 a day of a 1 a day vitamin. Actually, don't do it without your Dr. telling you to do so.

Look, people, iodide/iodine is not going to do too much to protect our bodies. While I firmly believe that one of the most important glands in our body is the thyroid, we can save the thyroid all we want, and it will do no good if there is no body it can work in, KWIM? The focusing on the iodide/iodine is seeing a tree instead of a forest.

Far better, at this point, and imho, to do a bit more preparedness in terms of food and water, and not necessarily OTC iodine. Water, food that can be eaten straight from a can (no using water to dilute/cook in), canned broths (for that which has to be cooked in liquid, such as rice), and so on. That will do more for you, your body, and your peace of mind than anything else.

Here's the truth.

If there are meltdowns occurring, very little can be done to put that particular genie back into the bottle. The reactors look trashed to me, so it's safe to think that a huge environmental event has/is happening.

What you can do - and still maintain some sort of reality - is to do only that which you can reasonably do, and then get on about your life. I must admit, in moments of panic, of thinking of bringing my horse into the living room. That, however, won't work in the least...so...we do what we can, and trust that God will do the rest (and if you don't believe in God, than trust whatever system of belief you have...it's all good).

Take the steps you can reasonably take, and then...get on about life.

As for Obama and the rest of the administration, I am at a loss as to why no-one has made a statement...and while that does bother me, it also reminds me that it is up to me, and me alone, to protect/preserve myself. Always.

Be sensible, be reasonable, and be prudent. There is nothing more anyone can do.

Bodies in the reactors/nuclear facility or bodies, you know... in the aftermath of the tsunami?

I assumed from the tsunami.

I read it referred to as a 'tide of bodies' from a poster in Japan {in a comment under an article}.

US alarm over Japan atomic crisis

Quote: "They are leaving us to die," says the mayor of Minamasoma inside the exclusion zone. (video)

Yeah, what angers me the most is that much MUCH could have been done in the first 5 days where levels were low but all that red tape and BS got in the way and now they are facing being left to die!! My friend is angry too, asking where are the helicopters?!! We told him America sent some but we are sitting of the coast. He's furious.

In my earlier post I was told by 7 different companies (4 were Vitamin supply stores and 3 were pharmacies) that the company had sent their stock of KI to the West Coast and overseas. Do I know this for a fact? NO. I am just passing on what I was told. I do know that last night, for the first time that I saw, CNN had a story on how KI was "flying off the shelves".

As to the Prez not saying anything b/c the gov't does not know anything---1. Personally, I do not believe that---that is just my OPINION. Not based on fact. 2. I have no problem with the CinC saying just that ----"we are evaluating the data as we receive it and have decided to obtain as much information as we can regarding this situation in Japan. However, I want the country to know that we consider this to be of utmost importance and will do all we need to do to ensure the safety of our citizens. As more information is obtained we will continue to make that available .....yada, yada, yada" or words to that effect. AGAIN---this is just my OPINION and how I feel.

the white house press briefings every day have been covering this...or did you mean you wanted him to hold a press conference like at night...I just think the media isn't reporting what the white house is doing or saying...but it's easy to find out...this is actually a really good site if you want to know what the president is doing :)

The Gov of CA did declare state of emergency in two more counties affected by the March 11 tsunami...not because of any radiation issues.

Sheesh, folks...whoever reported that (not here, but in the media) needs to have their hand smacked. Hard.

A simple two minute search on Bing shows that Brown declared SOE in Obispo and Mendecino counties...which were added to the other 4 CA counties hit by the tsunami.

Good grief.

Isolated and angry amid Fukushima nuclear crisis
An awful reality is setting in for those trapped near the stricken nuclear plant: People are afraid to help them.

Excerpt:
Aid agencies are reluctant to get too close to the plant. Shelters set up in the greater Fukushima area for "radiation refugees" have little food, in part because nobody wants to deliver to an area that might be contaminated. And with little or no gasoline available, not everyone who wants to leave can get out.

Radiation fears mingled with a sickening sense of abandonment Wednesday.

OMGosh - me too (raising glass). But more than likely, I'll be here, or face to face with the boob-tube (as my mom used to call it).

Praying...keep praying!
