This is like a nightmare to listen to, turn off your sound and see the far right image of the copter dropping water on the plant...

WOW, that is a sizzler to listen to as the language is so foreign to the ears. I thought there was a hole they were going to shoot the water thru, not just dumping it over the top of the bubble.

I have a question about the spent rods, 600 stored at one of these reactors. Is that what nuclear waste is? Ta

Is anyone else watching MSNBC? Maddow just gave a rundown on the tons of fuel at each reactor, and I was on the phone! Couldn't catch the totals, but it looked to be three or four times the amount at Chernobyl. She did add, however, that older fuel will not be as hot... wow.

Line after line, a list on the wall of city hall reveals the dead. Some are named. Others are identified only by a short description.

Female. About 50. Peanuts in left chest pocket. Large mole. Seiko watch.

Male. 70-80 years old. Wearing an apron that says "Rentacom."

One set catches the eye of Hideki Kano, a man who appears to be in his 30s.

"I think that's my mom!" he says. He rushes out into the snow, headed for a makeshift morgue.

The list in Natori, and others along Japan's northeast coast, will only get longer.

Yes, as far as I know, it is nuclear waste.

I've been slow... internet is terrible (what a problem)...

Yes, spent fuel rods are nuclear waste... Think Yucca Mt waste...

the white house press briefings every day have been covering this...or did you mean you wanted him to hold a press conference like at night...I just think the media isn't reporting what the white house is doing or saying...but it's easy to find out...this is actually a really good site if you want to know what the president is doing :)

Yes, I meant a night address to the nation. I do know about the daily briefings, and have watched a few, but I don't know that many Americans are watching these or are even aware of them. As to knowing what he is doing---I know that he was filling out his NCAA picks (important for him to do that) and attended a funeral yesterday for a veteran. I believe he and the fam are going somewhere overseas shortly. Frankly, I think that it would be nice to hear from the leader of our country even if there is not much to say. I mean---this nuclear snafu is pretty significant---esp. since the current admin. is pro-nuclear? And before anyone jumps on me---I am not saying I am for or against nuclear energy. Plus, as I posted earlier---since the American experts are now saying that the situation in Japan is far more serious and dire than they had originally thought---does that make a difference in what (if any) possible ramifications there might be for the USA?
