This is just unbelievable. Did the defense make a huge deal about this during the trial?

They did. They questioned the investigators about it so the jury would have heard this.

No, you are thinking of the daycare doll play in which she allegedly said something about "Mommy biting..." We don't know what that play was really about as she also talked about farm animals.

Just found the information and the biting comment was in a different conversation than the farm animal conversation.

Did the defense cross examine MF? I just listened to the entire testimony of the state questioning her and then it went into something else.

Your post is very misleading. When did LE give "many public statements" regarding CY witnessing the murder? I wasn't aware search warrants were considered a public statement. Also it was dateline producers who called CY a silent witness, not LE. This was the media's wording.

Umm, I am not the one who posted there were no male dolls for CY to choose from or that a suspect from a nearby trailer park was arrested and released.
Donnie Harrison called CY a witness to her mother's murder early in the investigation. I will try and find a link, and maybe you can find one about there not being any male dolls or the suspect from the trailer park who was arrested.

MF was cross examined at length by the defense at both trials.

I believe another witness was on and then they went back to her.

oh yeah and I just remembered at trial 2 her testimony was delayed into the next day because there was an out of town witness that needed to give testimony. So if you go to the next day video you can hear the cross

The prosecution presented a witness at the second trial to support the claim that the child witnessed the murder. That seems to completely contradict the assessment at the scene, where investigators saw no reason for her to be assessed by a professional for physical and psychological trauma. If she had been assessed by a professional, photographed, and processed for forensics, then there would no reason to rely on the observations of a daycare employee. In fact, we would also know whether the child had been cleaned at any time after the murder and before the discovery of the body.

The daycare worker's observations of CY came 6 days after Michelle's murder. Meredith testified there was a psychologist at her home the night of the murder. Nothing was preventing Meredith or that professional from observing, documenting. It wasn't done.

I totally agree and Michelle must not have been too afraid either. On the back of the house downstairs, the only window that had blinds was the bay window. The french doors and window over the sink have nothing.

Shelly testified that she was afraid, that was she scared. I don't know how many other ways to word it. She was so frightened she needed Michelle to walk her to her car. a car that was parked close to the home. Listen to her testimony of how afraid she was even as she drove home and talked to her husband on her cell while driving.

BBM. I do recall that interview and can't remember for sure where I saw it but the first thing that struck me was why wasn't the child interviewed by a trained professional in order to determine the extent of what she observed? It still makes no sense that a trained professional didn't interview her if they thought she observed her mother's murder.

Next trial, cops need to be confronted by the defense as to why they didn't have the child interviewed.

MF testified that by that time in the evening CY had shut down. So I think it is reasonable to assume there was nothing at that point to document. After the incident at daycare JY took CY to Brevard

I wonder if in these years since the murder MF has gotten CY counseling. I also wonder if CY has gotten counseling if that person would e allowed to testfy if there was something that could contribute to more understanding.

Thanks, I am trying to find it and I remember it very well because it scared me that they would say that, and, that the killer(s) might want to hurt her. I remember thinking it was a dangerous thing to do.
But. they also may have been trying to just scare the killer into thinking that. Either way it put CY in danger.

I know we don't share the same opinion abut what happened that night but I really agree and so wish they had a trained expert that was tasked to interview CY at the time.

No interview, no photos of her and no testing of her blood.

What a joke.

I had the same reaction. Could it have been a television interview? I remember seeing it. I don't often watch Nancy Grace but could it have been with her?

I think we have been back and forth with this before. I still believe if that psychologist had anything of value to say she would have been called at both trials. I really can't imagine we will suddenly hear from that person if there is a trial 3

Nope, not NG..although I watched her for the Arias case. A lot of WRAL articles have expired after 8 years..
I did find something else interesting though! Becky Holt was assigned to the case and she was at the Young home, which is rare when a crime scene is still active.

My daughter keeps the baby wipes in the bathroom and even the 2.5 year old knows how to get one if he needs it. He also knows how to turn on the tap to brush his teeth.

I just don't associate baby wipes with the amount of blood we saw. Why not just grab a towel?
