Does anyone know JY's yearly salary at the time of the murder?

That's just it though, the enitre conversation was mentioned. Who in their right mind thinks about selling a home hours after their wife was murdered???? What reason would LF have to lie about that. At that time they didn't think JY was responsible. Not the first day.

Actually MF mentioned that she was concerned it could be JY on the first day.

Please review her testimony.

Evidence in the form of testimony shows he was not curious how 29 yr old pregnant wife came to be dead. Never asked. Only concerned about toddler daughter. Within 8 hrs of learning wife died he's commenting about "taking a hit on the house." Any jury member with a few brain cells will wonder why a husband wouldn't ask a most basic question that everyone else would, and then why a "hit on the house" are the first words he says to the mother of the woman who just sustained 30+ hits to her head.

Again, wrong--he did talk about it. Please see my comment above:)

And imagine what financial strife he would be in if he divorced Michelle and had to pay spousal and child support!

Since Michelle was employed, and assuming that Michelle retained full custody, child support would have taken her income into consideration. Spousal support may have gone in Jason's favor given that Michelle was a major contributor to the family finances.

^^^ I seriously doubt it happened like that at all. It is being taken out of context to make Jason look worse, if that is even possible. I guess things like shock do not matter. How does anyone remember exactly what someone says or does when the news of a loved one comes so abruptly and without any warning? Unless we were there, we don't know what happened, what was said, or, in what order it was spoken.

Listen to Heather's testimony and you will hear how confused they all were, and how they all were trying to find out what happened on the trip back, all of them, Jason included. Then his friend calling him telling him the police are asking questions about him....

Details were confusing and coming in fast but sketchy, in fact there were thoughts that possibly Michelle had a miscarriage, , who knew what to think or believe?

I completely agree with this about the family confusion and shock. I just believe that the defendant was the only one that wasn't shocked and confused.

If Jason did not ask Meredith what she found in the house, and if Jason at no time asked what happened to Michelle, when did he learn what happened ... during trial?

Somewhere in the area of $70k rings a bell, but that's completely from memory based on comments posted by a friend of the family years ago.

Only Jason can answer that. Legally he got all the documents, interviews, discovery once he was arrested. Whoever LE spoke to would have been able to tell him what questions were asked (speaking of JY's friends, family members). Also, he would have gotten a copy of every search warrant. I believe he knew full well "what happened" because he is the one who murdered his wife. No real mystery for him. He didn't need to ask how his wife died or what was missing from the house.

Thanks!! And, it really doesn't matter what he said or didn't say, it is not evidence that he committed this crime. Other than the state trying to make the jury hate the guy so much that we can get by with our not so credible eye witness cause we sure as heck do not have a motive either.

I would have to look it up, but I think their combined salaries were something close to 130K.

They both stated they had conversations with him. In fact, SS made a point to say they had many many conversations about the situation.

Listen to the testimony.

SS had many conversations with him immediately and days after the murder? I don't remember that?

Maybe you havent gotten to Jasons testimony. He admits that he did not talk about his alibi with anyone at all, pursuant to his lawyers advice

Hey ... it's my birthday today! I'm so much older and wiser than yesterday, and I still have doubt about Jason's guilt.

:bdscroll:

Hope you have a good one! :D My 'baby' girl turns 23 on 17th. :)

Here is what Shelley Schaad testified to about "conversations with JY" after the murder:

1. SS went into MF's house and then right to see CY. JY was in the bed with CY. SS told JY how sorry she was & how she couldn’t understand what happened. JY hugged SS and said, “I’m so sorry.” SS does not recall any other conversation between her & JY that evening.

2. Convo with JY about the will (after visitation at funeral home). Ryan & SS went to hotel. CY had already been taken to Brevard. JY asked Shelley, “what happens to CY now in terms of the will… does she still go to Heather & Joe?” SS was a witness to that will but had no idea about the legal aspects. SS interpreted JY's question as, "JY asking if he goes to jail will CY then go to his sister & bro in law?"

3. At visitation / funeral. Any 1:1 contact with JY? "Yes, sure, well with the whole family. Reached out to him & the whole family." SS said she was in “support mode.” Question: "Did you (SS) engage him in convo about investigation & talking to the police?" SS: "Yes, over the phone sometime after the funeral I asked JY, “what happened, Jason? Who could have done this? Did Michelle cross someone? Did she make anyone angry?” JY said, “I can't talk; my lawyer told me not to talk.”

4. Was JY speaking to other friends? SS testified "JY was not speaking to other friends, nor her husband, RS, nor the police." SS wondered why JY would not help.

5. After the funeral SS no longer had contact with JY. She said, "I decided JY’s true colors would become apparent over time. I mean, how unlucky can one man be to have a series of events around his wife's murder ....” SS said she cut off all contact with JY — her husband remained in contact for awhile, but SS didn’t want to see or speak to JY again. She never spoke to JY again. Her husband eventually did the same. (note: the implication that the Schaad's believe JY murdered MY became apparent though the question was not point-blank asked.)

Interesting that those who are focused on spinning his words about a house are the same as those who seem desperate for him to be guilty whether he is actually guilty or not. If anything, his comments show he was not even thinking about obtaining the life insurance.

The fact remains, he DID take a hit on the house, he DID have to change jobs.

Please review her testimony.

Or review the appellate court opinion. MF spoke to Jason and he asked her what happened. Intentionally misrepresenting the facts isn't going to change reality.

After Defendant arrived and learned from his mother of Michelle’s passing, he spoke with Meredith over the phone. Meredith told Defendant to come to her home because the Youngs’ home was a crime scene. When speaking to Meredith, he asked about Emily, what had happened, and seemed upset over the phone.

They might have had a total earning of up to $150k, but either way, even $130k is plenty for a family with one child and another on the way.

Yes, he did take a hit on the house so he was right. I really don't care what he said or didn't say or who he said it to or didn't say it to when learning of Michelle's death, it doesn't make him guilty. He was speaking out of shock and grief.
But, if he did not come back to Raleigh right away that night, that would be a whole different story.
