But, MF tesitfied she heard the hose running and not just leaking..How could anyone hear a hose make just a leaking noise unless you were almost on top on it?

If it was leaking then water was flowing through the pipes, just not in a great amount. Was it enough that MF could hear? Who knows? I doubt LE bothered to check. I'm surprised cops took notice of the car key placement.

Justice, we have a sprinkler with a timer attached to a hose.
Even when that sprinkler shuts off, the water is still running full blast, it just is not coming OUT of the hose or sprinkler. You will still *hear* that water running.

Do you have a hose at your house? With a spray nozzle or sprinkler that can be turned off try it out. You can hear it running within your pipes even though no water is coming out.

The sound of the outside hose running while I am in the house is pretty much a sound of summer to me :)

I don't think we need to start bashing Fiona Childs. She was one of Michelle's best friends. A very intelligent and well spoken woman, she was an Estate Planner and is also an Attorney.

It turns out she was unwell during both trials and was suffering from fogginess etc.. due to celiac disease.

I want to mention the hose in the back yard. Meredith heard it running because the faucet is directly under the kitchen window. To hear it running, it needs to be turned on full force, just as you do when using a sprayer on your hose. The force of the water makes it leak at the faucet AND the hose/sprayer connection. The water running most certainly could have been a big deal as some of you want to downplay.

The lots on this side of Birchlef go up in the front......level out.....then go down in the back. You can see this in the photos. You can see the construction of the deck. The lot has a downward slope.

Water runs downward. The sidewalk was wet as if the hose HAD been running. Much has been made of no puddle, but if land slopes the water runs off. This I know firsthand as our lot slopes and with any water ie: rain, water from hose, etc we always end up with a "pond" in the back of our property.

Another thing I want to mention are Michelle's window treatments. So much has been said about intruders and Shelley's being afraid, etc, etc, etc. IF Michelle was nervous at all about any of this why the bare windows? The only window with blinds on the back of the house was the bay window. Over the sink, french door.....neither of these had any blinds/window tretments of any kind. I think this says something as to whether or not Michelle felt afraid at night.

Clearly she was unafraid. She was ok with a broken garage door and unlocked door from the garage into the house, and had used neither the dead bolt or the lock on the french door in the den.

What was the deal on the car key placement?

[modsnip]

"Jason Young, pressed to buy $1 million life insurance policies for both of them shortly before her death....After Young died, Childs said she learned the policy was actually higher - $2 million with a rider stating that the amount be doubled in the case of accidental death....

....Childs, who met Young at N.C. State University, described Jason Young as callous about the couple's miscarriage, telling Michelle to "get over it." Also, she said, he seemed uninterested in the pending birth of their second child. Shortly before Michelle Young died, Childs said, she asked her friend to be present at the second child's birth.

"It was apparent to me ... it was because she either didn't expect Jason to be there or couldn't rely on him," said Childs, now an attorney in Apex.

Found it!! Michael Smith, SBI. testimony Feb 23, 2014.

Here is the link.

http://www.wral.com/specialreports/michelleyoung/story/10771883/

Mr. Smith's testimony followed Fiona's and I found this elsewhere.

The amount of Jason's life insurance policy per month was $80.00
The amount of Michelle's life insurance policy per month was $140.00 (almost double)

OK, I think I figured it out. Two Michael Smith's testified--one who is a shoe expert from the FBI and one who is the computer expert from the SBI. The story says the SBI guy testified on the 23rd, but it is loaded on WRAL on the 17th.

The shoe guy testified on the 16th and that is the one I listened to this morning

I don't think that's what she meant. If I said "the hose is running, I hear it" I don't mean the hose per say, but the faucet, the noise from the force of the water from where th faucet connects to the waterline and in their case, it connected to the waterline in the kitchen.

I totally understand her statement. Meredith heard the water, at the faucet, backing up with pressure because of the sprayer. I would definitely say the same thing. "I hear the hose running."

Must live in a different kind of house than I do. :dunno:
Why is yours turned on at all times, if I may ask?
Seems like that is a lot of water pressure to be subjecting yours pipes and plumbing to

Oh come on now......this is ridiculous. Fiona's testimony questioned now? Wow are you "searching" for things to boost your claim of innocence.

Not fair Star....shows you are grasping at anything IMO>

I'm in the garden every day and have to water my plants:)

I never heard that it is bad for your pipes.

Thanks Nymeria....you explained the water situation better than I did. :)

Yes, it is not the sound of water running out of a hose, it is the sound of water in the pipes.
Like when someone else flushes a toilet or takes a shower, you can hear it running if you are in the house (if the house is on the quiet side).
That is what the water being on outside sounds like even if none is coming out of the hose.

Then you have lower water pressure in your house. If you have a lot of water pressure you DO hear it.

Just re-listened to Galloways's testimony. They are US pics.

As I said, they are not visible in one photo and then they are visible in another. He stated this is because they took them down from the refrigerator.

Okay, thanks,Starr, and an apology from me to Landon's Mom.

Actually, I think it must be my insulation because the water pressure is amazing.

Maybe it is not, I just assume because my house is older that it would be (and if it can break/bust/rupture...it will ).

I did find a little into however-
No matter where you live, no matter what your weather, the bottom line is you should never leave water in a garden hose during the summer. Not only is it going to decrease the life of your hose and your nozzle, but you're taking a serious risk with your home's plumbing. The extra 20 seconds it takes you to drain the hose is absolutely 100% worth it.

Yes, but the state wants us to believe that it was running from 3-4 am until 1:30 pm , that is 10 plus hours, and that is all the water that accumulated on the cement path?

I can not hear my hose if it is on outside unless I am outside too. And, my hose is also under our kitchen windows.

I am going to pull up MF's testimony on the description of the hose and the noise demonstration she made in court.
