Jaycee's Bio dad

  • #341
You got me. lol Sorry, I was on a tangent. :) Indeed, it would be more of an introduction than a reunion between Jaycee and her father. Although, I suppose I was also thinking that it would be a reunion of sorts (good or bad) should Jaycee let him back into her life and then he ended up running into Terry again at a family gathering or something.

"introduction" is very accurate.
and then there is the 'introduction' to jaycee's girls. as if they havent had enough to deal with the last month and a few days.
i understand jaycee was the one to tell them she was there mom not nancy. wow i can imagine how hard that was on all 3 of them. jaycee is one srrong lady

I completely see your points and agree right up to the moment he appeared on TV with Gloria and we heard discussion of court orders to determine paternity.

There are many definitions of love, but the one I've always liked is the condition where someone else's happiness is more important to you than your own. Telling Jaycee via a press conference that a lawyer with a briefcase and a phlebotomist with a needle will be coming around to see her with a court order doesn't fit that definition in my world.

You said everything I was thinking and feeling...and you did it so well! Thank you for expressing what i was trying to express....that definition of love is my point....how is it thinking of Jaycee's happiness....getting Glo to go on TV and say they may seek legal remedy to get the paternity test?

i woud hope if his attorney was putting her foot in her mouth that slayton would correct her. that has not happened yet

You can see how I would misunderstand, yes? Thank you for clarifying, but is that all you took away from that post? Only the first line?:waitasec:

I heard...it registered...I am still thinking. Being a victims advocate and a survivor myself...I approach this from Jaycee's and her daughters' needs in mind and nothing else. I believe that for a long while, their needs should supercede anything and everything else.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHql-2tv9vI"]YouTube - Jaycee Dugard Kidnapping, Rape Case[/ame]

Link to video of Gloria Allred's statement and Kenneth Slayton's statement.

Upon reflection, it's interesting that his other two kids by his first marriage haven't made any appearance.

Also interesting that a point is made of his Vietnam War service. Not to stereotype military fathers . . .

Another point is the insinuation that HE could have done something to protect her.

It is never appropriate to ask someone who they are.

LOL in this case, I will never see anyone but Jaycee and the girls as the victims.

of course.
but id add terry carl and shayna to the list. because they were her real family and she was stolen from them
and add on to that carl becoming the scapegoat and there marriage falling apart because of this........

What is also interesting is that I did not hear Allred threaten legal action as has been reported - and is still in a lot of the articles I find!

Google News search

Is there another video, or what? The printed remarks are totally appropriate, and it make a big difference to me whether or not legal action was threatened.

seeing as 90 percent of my anger is because of the lawyers supposed comments........it would be nice if someone cleared this up for us.
either the video was edited or someone writing the story either made up stuff or implied something not stated

This is what I have been trying to say Adnoid. I am just trying to understand exactly what the facts are regarding Slayton.

oh I know where I can look.

All I can think is that the statement about legal action must have been made by Gloria Allred during a Q&A session with reporters after those prepared statements were made.

I just checked again, and I keep coming up with stories that have this quote - or something very similar:

But I cannot find anything that's a direct quote. Either it's out there and I can't find it, or she never said it and someone needs a spanking.

If these reports are in error I cannot believe that GA is keeping quiet about it. Frankly, I don't think she could keep quiet about anything if her life depended on it. But neither can I find any press release from her denying she said it, or any correction from any news outlet that they made a mistake reporting it.

Strange.

It makes a HUGE difference to me, and I cannot believe the L. A. Times, for instance, whose HQ is under 10 miles from Gloria's office, would just make a statement that significant up.
I listened to his first live interview and they did not say anything about legal action in it either. this is part of why I keep asking where this information is actually coming from.
because where i sit, i am not even sure there is any legal action they can take, so what is the implication?
I had read a couple articles but mainly listened to the Kennedy and Suits interview where he comes off sounding like a fairly ok guy.
Glo sounds like..well she sounds like Glo.

I especially liked how hesitant he was to reveal any details regarding Terry and her character. I got the impression that he could have said a lot of things that Terry probably wouldn't have appreciated, but took the high road and was respectful, instead. He doesn't try to make himself out to be perfect, either.
Again, Jelly, thank you for bringing this interview to our attention. It speaks volumes, IMO.

whatever there might be for him to say about terry, remember she's the only bio parent jaycee ever had. and they were super tight. so im not gonna start bashing her

My guess is Mr. Slayton is thinking about the same exact thing as you are here. And no one, to my knowledge, is suggesting that he or anybody should start bashing her.

Did you listen to the Kennedy and Suits interview that Jelly mentioned, kbl? If not, you should.

i did.
im waiting for some kind of confirmation to whether the 'may take legal action' quote if factual or not. that's what im basing most of my anger towards slayton on (10 percent is and will always be his whereabouts from 1980 to 1991)

That is a good point, MBK. At the beginning of the press conference after she introduced everyone, Allred explained how the press conference would procede and mentioned that she (only she, not Slayton) would also be answering a few questions at the end. The youtube video unfortunately only goes up to the end of Slayton's statement. There must be a full length video somewhere out there that has the entire press conference.
