Jayden Spicer, 10, August 6, 2025 *mother arrested*

She states that she "believes that Jayden passed away from this medical emergency".
So, does she not know for sure that he was dead before sticking him in a tote and hauling him to the cemetery to bury him?
The AA makes it sound like she wasn't sure if he was already gone, or if he did, indeed, die from the "medication" that she gave him.
I may have to sit on my hands until the autopsy/tox results come back.
IMO.
In a medical emergency, everyone knows to call 911.

Did she not notice the "emergency" until he was already gone? Well, in that case, everyone knows to call 911.

I see she has a home phone number listed on there 🤔 hmmm
I noticed that too. If she has a home phone then why the need to go to the neighbors to call 911?

Exactly and exactly.

And, on the chance they hadn’t paid the phone bill and lost service, IIRC you can still call 911 without service on a cell, though I’m not certain.

She must still have a car if she drove him 19 miles away, so she COULD have tried driving him to a hospital or stopping at some neighbor and using their phone to call 911. If the neighbors are not nearby she still could have at least TRIED even if it turned out to be too late.

But her goal clearly was NOT to save her child’s life, but to save herself the unwanted burden of having her own son under her roof.

Was his great grandmother on the maternal side?

I totally agree!

But handing the kids to a parent known to be neglectful seems sort of like handing keys to a drunk driver and hoping they get home without injurying anyone - only the car ride lasts 18 years.

That’s what happened. A year prison term for child endangerment and this child was killed when handed over. One way or another don’t know specifics re legality as he may not of legally been living with great grandmother and Back he had to go to bio. IMO

I'm confused. It states that she and her husband reported Jayden missing ( both) then she also had 2 older kids lie about all of this to LE, where's the husband in all of this? IMO

So she had three previous arrests for child endangerment and wanton endangerment, had six children, half of whom did not live with her, and was still the choice of child services to be the one to have physical custody of Jayden.

Then her own story is berserk. Sleep meds, he had a “medical emergency,” and rather than call 911, she opts to let him die then drives him 19 miles away and tosses his body.

And as extra evil, she endeavors to get her other kids to participate in her cover story.

The blame is fully on her and any other adult who knew and/or was involved in this, but IMO child services should have put him in a group home or anyplace else that was not with a mother who never raised him and already was a proven negligent parent.

Nothing else to say except I hope he is somewhere reunited with his great-grandma and knows love again.

About the bolded ..... Can't say what I'm thinking but you all probably have an idea.
The trauma Felicia Gross put those children through as well !

Maybe, just maybe the other kids were the only ones who were kind and welcoming to young Jayden ?
I pray he experienced a small level of acceptance in his final weeks/days, outside of (prob. 2 !) adults in that home who didn't want him.
Imo.

Good question !
Also -- have we heard anything from Jayden's bio dad ?
Apologies if it was posted & I missed the update.

In an update Tuesday evening, KSP said investigators "received new information" in Spicer's disappearance and conducted a new search in a "heavily wooded area" along Canoe Road in Jackson. Spicer's body was found at 3 p.m. buried at the scene, where he was pronounced deceased.

"While this is not the outcome we had hoped for, we certainly are grateful that we were able to bring him out of the woods today," Miranda King, commonwealth's attorney, said during a news conference Tuesday evening.

In the days leading up to the discovery, unverified reports circulated on social media alleging that Jayden’s mother, Felicia Gross, had confessed to his murder and led investigators to the body. However, as of now, Kentucky State Police have not confirmed any arrests or named any suspects publicly

She told investigators she then took his body to a wooded area, where it was buried in a plastic tote. According to the citation, Gross also coached two of Jayden’s siblings about what to say when they were interviewed several days before her confession. The arrest citation states Gross admitted to giving her son a type of sleeping medication, believing it caused a fatal medical emergency.

Only the car ride lasts 18 years. Or not.

He had just gotten in her "car".... and now he's forever dead.

SO UNFAIR.

Hey Everyone.
Please remember that if you post something as a fact, you must provide the link to the fact.
Especially on new cases like this one. We are not familiar with the facts yet because it is so new.
Thank you

Wow, I was not expecting this but admittedly, I don't know the case really well either.

Grrrrr a freaking plastic tote to bury your own son.

So she “believed” the sleep meds “caused a fatal medical emergency,” or she HOPED it would cause a fatal medical emergency?

Just my speculation based on her actions.

Why don't people who aren't fit to be parents use birth control? I will go to my grave not understanding why. O.K. Edited to add: My comment is very harsh. What I should have posted was why don't they willingly give up these children -- no matter what age the children are -- for adoption? There are so many people "out there" who would love to give a wonderful life to an unwanted and unappreciated child! {I apologize, but my anger got in the way. I am still a strong proponent of birth control.}
I feel the very same way about birth control.

Arrest citation reveals new details in death of Kentucky boy

BREATHITT, Ky. (WKYT) - An arrest citation is revealing new details about the death of 10-year-old Jayden Spicer in Breathitt County.

The citation says Jayden’s mother, Felicia Gross, admitted to giving him a type of sleeping medication, believing it caused a fatal medical emergency.

Breathitt County mother charged after admitting to giving son medication before his death

According to an arrest citation, Gross confessed to providing Jayden with the medication, saying it caused him to have a medical emergency and that she believed he had died from that emergency. She told investigators she took Jayden’s body to a wooded area near the mouth of Joe Little Fork and buried him.

After obtaining a search warrant, investigators located Jayden’s remains buried underground in a plastic tote around 3 p.m. Tuesday. His body was sent to the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

The Kentucky State Police investigation is ongoing.

We are learning more about the death of 10-year-old Jayden Spicer and the charges his mother is facing.

Felicia Gross' arrest citation says she told KSP she gave Jayden sleep medication, and it caused him to have a medical emergency.

The citation says she told police where she had taken his body, and police found his remains buried in a plastic tote.

It also says she coached two of Jayden's siblings about what to say regarding his disappearance.

Gross is charged with manslaughter, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, tampering with a witness, and falsely reporting an incident.

I'm curious what sleep medication she gave him. Was it something prescribed to her or her husband? Was it melatonin or was she using Benadryl as a sleep aid? Was it something she obtained some other way and wasn't prescribed to her? I don't believe any doctors would prescribe sleep medication to a 10 year old so what did she give him and why??

Did he truly have trouble sleeping or did she want him to sleep?

I hope they are able to interview those children again and find out exactly what they know, not what their mother coached them to say. Do they all get sleep meds at night? I hope the kids are all tested to see if anything is in their systems because if this mother really did just give to much sleep meds, then the other kids might also be given these things and have higher levels in their system.

It just seems to me that this is a convenient excuse for mom to use. I am curious just how long he was gone before she reported him missing. I don't think they would have reported him missing if it were not for school starting 2 days later. I just hope he didn't suffer. :(
