Jayden Spicer, 10, August 6, 2025 *mother arrested*

I’m blanking on this-were there any other kids in the household with the mother and bf/husband besides sweet Jayden?
Yes, 3 other children .

She lied. She failed the child and the community. I wonder if such cruelty comes from vileness, mental illness, addiction, fear or all of the above?

Such a charade will also impact those kids at his school in some manner big or small, for the rest of their lives.

I do want to say that law enforcement, search crews, volunteers and even those who helped to keep his name out there did a fantastic job. My heart goes out to them as well since right along with us we had hoped for a happier ending.
And to think she was trying to keep her name quiet and hidden in the beginning!

BBM: I think there should be an investigation for how DCFS handled or mishandled this case. His death could have been avoidable.
I don't want to jump to that conclusion yet. His bio Mom was now married, with 3 other children in her home, who were, apparently, alive and well.

So I do understand why CPS might have thought the bio mother would be the best option. They try to give birth parents the benefit of the doubt, in these cases.

Yes he was, and by his own feral wolf mother.

At this point we don’t know if she was a lone wolf or part of a feral pack.

We will find out, but nothing will bring this little boy back.

Clearly he wasn’t raised by either of his own parents, who couldn’t or wouldn’t care for him.

But so many alternatives exist which would have given Jayden a better life than what he endured with his bio mom. His elderly great-grandma couldn’t last forever.

Bad parents are often just bad people who’ve had sex. No natural maternal or paternal love.

Somewhere out there are people who would’ve been ecstatic to have adopted him when he was a baby.

Wolves care for their cubs and form strong family bonds. This… thing pretending to be a mother does not deserve the honor of being a wolf. Neither does the boyfriend if he’s involved.

Just your average, run-of-the-mill self-centeredness. Some people don't think of anything or anyone outside of themselves and are entirely motivated by their own desires and self-preservation.

I feel it physically unlikely she could have moved him on her own

“I would like to take a moment to thank the many different organizations that assisted in the search efforts for Jaden. All of the volunteers that spent numerous hours and days trying to locate him. Thank you to every person that sent tips or even shared a social media post. Thank you for the many prayers that were prayed, and we ask that you continue to pray for a community that grieves during this tragic loss," KSP Trooper Matt Gayheart said.

No you're not the only one that feels strange over the mother's letter. Wouldn't a mom want to tell her child we will find you. Mommy is coming to get you! I love you my son! Try not to be afraid. We are coming to get you!
That's what missing. She doesn't speak to her son.
Exactly, you hate to point that out and feel like victim slamming
But has an odd feel, or maybe she has a low reading level

His hands look a bit strange to me, as if his left one is smaller than the right. Anybody else have that impression? Maybe it's just the angle the photo is taken from.

I don't know what that would mean either. Photo doctored before given out as missing photo?
MOO

He looks tentative, unsure, barely awake, subdued in some way
Maybe this is just after medication for adhd, some kids get zombie and sleepy with no affect

IMO

I did wonder if the hand was injured and painful the way he is holding it here.

KSP Trooper Matt Gayheart declined to share specific details about the case due to it escalating to a criminal investigation.

He said their top priority is to preserve the integrity of the investigation while seeking justice for Jayden.

The husband?
my thoughts too! most violence against women is by the hands of their partner, isn’t it? though i suppose there could have been a struggle with jayden too.. honestly i hope he went quick and without being too aware of it :(

i’m really feeling for the siblings too. i don’t know how old they are, how much they know about what has happened, and what they have been through with their family before this.. but i hope the rest of their childhood will be as loving and safe as possible

If there was a struggle we would be seeing a murder charge I’m sure. Wonder what explanation she gave to police.

Yes I agree re the siblings. Those poor children are innocent in all this. <modsnip>

I think the mum has taken the fall here for the husband but that’s just my opinion and I could be completely wrong.

Was there some type of threat to her that if she didn’t confess he would hurt their children/her?

We do --so often-- think this with a case like this.... "how could they NOT handle this better from the get go".
But I also, always, just think how very very hard it is to be one of these social workers who have to deal with unfit parents.... like seeing time bombs everywhere. all the time.
