Found Deceased Jenny Hall, 23, described as a keen long distance runner, vehicle located on the B2678 between Eggleston & Stanhope, County Durham, Feb 18 2025.

The moor is quite dangerous - especially at night. Even if she was an experienced fell runner. Anyone could break an ankle. But leaving her phone behind does sound strange. And the remote area seems to be somewhere they didn't search immediately.

for them to declare "no suspicious circumstances" so soon after finding the body, there must be some clear indication that this was at her own hand.

sadly it seems another young life gone because she couldn't see a way past whatever her troubles were RIP

The body was found around 9am on Sunday, February 23) in Teesdale. A formal identification will need to take place but officers do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances

"Jenny’s family have been notified and are currently being supported by specialist officers and our thoughts remain with them.

"It is not believed there are any suspicious circumstances

"If a death is reported to a coroner, the documents you need to register the death may be different. The coroner will decide either:
  • the cause of death is clear
  • that a post-mortem is needed
  • to hold an inquest"

The circumstances will be looked into.

Devastating for her family and friends, my best friend committed suicide over 30 years ago and its never left me and affected me in so many ways. I hope if this is the case family and friends get support as its always the ‘What ifs’ that get you the most xx

If it was my daughter, I would want no stone left unturned to establish specifically that no one else had been involved and her be dumped somewhere.
Oh I absolutely agree Stella, but it may be that if the Police had access to her Devices then there may well be indication on those devices that all was far from well...I know little about these things but I presume that a post mortem will take place to utterly eliminate all doubt... how dreadful for young Jenny and how tragic for the family. There are sadly some things in life that can never be recovered from.

The news article from the Daily Mail (below) states that Durham Constabulary said "'The body was found in a very remote area in Teesdale just after 9.30am today (February 23)."

Very remote doesn't sound like the kind of place you choose to go jogging at 3.30pm on a cold, wet February afternoon.

RIP.

There will likely be an inquest, though, which is a public thing.
Not sure about that as my friends suicide was declared ‘misadventure’ when it was very clear what had happened because his family did not want that out in public as they were quite known in the area. It just depends on the family’s wishes in some cases (well I guess that could have changed over the years)

I suppose suicide, if established, is not something we may ever be told anyway, as the family presumably would not want it known and to avoid unpleasant gossip about them.
Depends really. A very good online friend committed suicide 5 years or so ago, it was a very high profile case in the national media and it was widely broadcast as suicide. I assume it is up to each family of the deceased to decide

Even if, for instance, she was found hanging by a noose from a tree, there would likely still be both forensic and post-mortem examinations to determine if she was killed by her own hand or not. Sometimes murder is a staged to look like suicide.
MOO.

I fear that you may well be correct here. If they do indeed have possession of her devices I think that's a significant sign. A guy I know got very depressed a while back and decided he was going to chuck himself off a local suicide spot - he left his phone behind at home. Fortunately he changed his mind but the leaving the phone behind thing seems to be common with these things.
My friend's cousin did the same. She unfortunately didn't change her mind, and her body was found a few days later.

Apparently a team from the Lake District were brought in after yesterday, so maybe that's why they found her today.

"Mobile 3 was used as a control vehicle for Lake District Search And Mountain Rescue Association's specialist drone teams, who used bespoke automated searching software."

It's been a huge, amazing effort from so many people - one police report said they had been searching "round the clock".

No suspicious circumstances suggests either a suicide or accident with resulting perishing in the cold snowy weather

I feel it is a suicide sadly
Looks like suicide and the police probably had information early on to suggest this hence the "no third party involvement" announcement not long after she went missing.
