Found Deceased Jenny Hall, 23, described as a keen long distance runner, vehicle located on the B2678 between Eggleston & Stanhope, County Durham, Feb 18 2025.

Doesn’t add up to me, she was an experienced outdoors person, runner, etc, yet she left her phone and smartwatch behind, while there was snow on the ground, feels to me she loved the outdoors so much that she wanted to die there/die with her boots on so to speak
Yeah the watch especially I keep going back to

A couple of news outlets are saying body found in forest search. So maybe it was a remote part of the forest.

I would be very skeptical of news outlets that do not source local reporting.

I don't see that "remote area of Teesdale "has much you would consider forests. I think the BBC reporter may have been confusing Hamsterly Forest in the photo of the police search with the area LE has reported as remote Teesdale.

The news outlet stories can get small details very wrong when they are making some assumptions without checking with local knowledge or authorities.

Aww this is so sad, RIP Jenny. :(

It does sound like suicide sadly since she left all of her belongings in the car. But I do think back to the Michael Mosley case where he left his phone behind and just had an accident. Hopefully all possibilities will be looked into for the family to get some closure though.

They're extensively searching Hamsterley Forest (conifer plantation) but she wouldn't have parked her car where she did to run there as the Forest has ample car parks. But then if she didn't want to engage with anyone would it be a bad choice? The Police are also saying they're not looking at third party involvement which suggests they're looking at either accident or, more worryingly, self harm.
Sadly, her body has been found in a remote area of Teesdale. No suspicious circumstances.

""There are so many young adults around the same age as Jenny struggling with their mental health .. So sorry Jenny, thinking of your family. I was hoping for a much better outcome. RIP."

It's tragic whatever the cause of death. I didn't see any comments about her hitting her head.<modsnip - referenced post was snipped> Sometimes an answer or explanation makes things more understandable. Presumably there will be official information after an inquest? <modsnip - no source> Awful for any parent.

The one photo in the article shows the lay-by site, I believe. It sure looks cold and half-snowy there.

I can't make out what the lower photo is, other than some brown grassy area.

Any ideas?

It looks like the moors road - where the car was parked at the top. Bottom photo does seem to be in the woods.

Hamsterley forest is very large - 4,900 acres. There are all kinds of less frequented areas near the edges, despite many walking and cycling trails.
