JLM Charged in the Hannah Graham Case

It would seem to be a waste of the public money if someone is given a life sentence for one crime to continue to go after lifesentences in six more crimes,IMO

I don't remember that residents may have provided some information to LE to lead them to search JM's apartment.

"On Friday, police conducted a search of Matthew’s vehicle, a 1998 burnt orange Chrysler coupe, which was parked in front of his apartment. While police were there, an interaction with residents of the complex led police to seek a search warrant for Matthew’s apartment while he was inside, Pleasants said."

Wow! That's news to me, too. I thought it was the search of his car that led to obtaining a search warrant for his apartment. I'll go back to check since I feel certain I read that it was something in the car.

eta: Yep, that's a contradiction to an earlier article from ABC7, wjla, dated 9/19/14, then updated 9/21/14:

Police search apartment, seize car, but find no sign of missing U.Va. student Hannah Graham

Longo said police had previous contacts with the man, but he would not provide details.

According to the chief, some of the more than 400 tips police have received prompted their search of the vehicle and the off-campus apartment. He declined to say what evidence police collected.

However, he said the search of the car "established probable cause" for the subsequent search of the apartment.

Since this is a discussion thread, can someone please tell me what the actual evidence is from Hannah to JLM? I know he was the last person seen with her, Tempo etc. But what was the actual evidence that linked him to Hannah?

I still have unanswered questions...

We won't know exactly what the evidence is until it is at least shared with Defense during a discovery process. We only have general vague references so far.

"Charlottesville Police initially searched Matthew's Albemarle County apartment and vehicle Friday after receiving tips about seeing his burnt-orange car at the downtown mall the night of Graham's disappearance.

They have since pulled nearly two dozen items, including clothing, from Matthew's home"

Plus there is DNA evidence.

:cow:

I have nothing constructive to add to this discussion - just so glad he has finally been charged! Let's hope Morgan is next

Sounds like a good day today for justice! I have alerted Bessie about the presser to see if she wants to do a new thread for us :)

Charged with 1st degree murder, not capital murder.

No pending charges in regards to Morgan.

Reporters are arguing. ut oh. and it's over.

Reporter asked if the charges could be upgraded to capital murder charges & the other reporter said something like "you want the death penalty"?

I believe the prosecutor said with the 1st degree murder charge and intent to defile JM would be facing 20 to life.

I only caught the end where she said that both charges, abduction with intent to defile and 1st degree murder, both carry sentences of 20 yrs to life.
