Oh, and another thing about the chocolates.....if mailed USPS, how did they just happen to arrive exactly on valentines day. We all know there is no guarantee with USPS. Unless it is overnight delivery, I suppose.

One of the many reasons I don't buy it. It's a rare rare man who's going to pack a cute little care package with handmade gifts and candies for his gal all Martha Stewart like. I'll quote one of his friends yesterday "Travis was generous but he'd call up and order flowers to be delivered if he was going to do something like that". I think that's more commonly what men do (if they do anything but don't get me started on THAT one ).

Ya know they just might. I dunno though because Juan would line up for them the elements required for the DP. He would literally define cruel, heinous, depraved for them and show them how this crime fits all of that. Then he might play her "I'd beg for the dp" statement. If they find the crime fits the DP then most jurors I think will follow the law like that. Otherwise they are really playing God.

But,,,,,,it was God Himself who instituted the Death Penalty as a part of human government, and He has never withdrawn it. Just sayin.

Genesis 9:6
Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

Numbers 35:31
Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.

So that would be a no? But on the upside up close and weebit personal with Juan -- but downside the defense

Oh I'm always up for a caper. If I had any good data to know where to begin looking for where she may have ditched that stuff, I'd go out. Heck yeah I would.

  • #985
haha no! It's just a slang word that's kinda old school that means something like "tell it!". Or "heck yeah"! or "wow you just said it!". Anyway that's how I use it. I was agreeing with you. haha

My cousin and I crack ourselves up saying that to each other all the time and surely we use it totally wrong.

Phew! Thank you, Katie. :seeya: I read and reread my post 12 times looking for how I violated TOS. (Don't want the Nurse sentencing me "20 minutes to life" for being naughty.) :jail:

Sorry to skip ahead and jump in who-knows-where, but I haven't seen anyone bring up the case I think the defense is basing JA's defense on:

http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/notorious_murders/classics/betty_gore/8.html

That link is the really long version, but in a nutshell, the defendant here was able to explain overkill in self-defense because of her upbringing and psychology. She said that the woman she killed (Betty Gore) came at her first with the ax, and in the process of defending herself, she kind of snapped. The overkill was a result of the trauma of being attacked, combined with her pent-up feelings and inability to vent her past 'traumas' (fairly minor ones, please note!).

She mutilated Betty Gore with an ax and the jury believed that the overkill made sense in her case.

Juan, I hope you have read this case! (I'm sure he has, but I see a direct friggin' parallel, so I want to bring it up bigtime!)

eta: she covered it up, too! So there was massive overkill and a definite attempt to hide her involvement, and the jury still let her off. It's what this defense is going for, perfectly :(

It is far more likely that Jodi sent Travis a big box with multiple presents for Valentine's Day. If he sent her that box, where's his note? She saved everything else, so where is it?

Sorry I put you through all of that. Here, have some melted chocolate. :seeya:

No Way! The gas cans she got from Daryl were for Kerosene to burn the clothes & floormats in the desert. Hence the smoky smell in the rental car.

I don't know that burning was part of the original plan.

I just don't think it went down the way she thought it was going to.

She appears to have a fixation with messes as well.

She must have run out of time to clean up the crime scene. Seems strange that she did such a bad job.

But maybe that is her delusion where everything she does it great.

I still want to know when that picture was taken of Jodi wearing the t shirt with the lettering on the front, "Travis Alexander's". Bet that could catch her in her lie!

I think people would argue that point with you especially if you read the New Testament.

how did they melt like that in february

mmmmmm hmmmmmmmm

:liar:

Um, my "friend" left a box of Girl Scout cookies in her car for an hour this week and they melted. (It wasn't even that warm out, just sun shining on the car.) I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.

She did like Jodi and stuck them in the freezer. Ate the chocolate off the wrapper like exquisite little appetizers...yum! :innocent:

This is not necessarily off-topic, but it's definitely off on a tangent, so please, bear with me. :blushing:

I've read many posts over the past few weeks where posters question why/how anyone would have bought into Jodi's b.s. - what rational, intelligent, thinking person would actually believe a word this (admitted) liar says? Who could LIKE this woman?

I'd like to give a point of reference. (I'm no longer employed in Will County in any sense) and this case was not nearly as well-known as the other case out of Will - Drew Peterson. But, in 2007, a young woman, beautiful, intelligent - and her boyfriend - enticed an ex-boyfriend to meet them in a Menard's (IIRC) parking lot. CASE LINK: http://newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Archive/Alt/alt.true-crime/2007-10/msg02256.html

There, they shot the ex. Both the current BF and the woman took a turn shooting. They drove away, were caught quickly, and have been incarcerated in Will County ever since.

My point? When I was working in Will County, (doing an internship) - I met the young woman involved. I got to know her, seeing her several days a week for months.

And although I was aware she was incarcerated on a murder charge, that she had admitted to enticing her current BF to kill her ex, that she had acknowledged making a mockery out of the restraining order she had rec'd on her ex, getting it only to keep the current and past BF away from each other - despite all this, I grew to like her.

I'm not stupid. I'm not uneducated. I'm not naive (hey, I'm from the Southside of Chicago! Hahah.)

But, regardless, I fell for it. I found her funny, engaging, I enjoyed our conversations and I warmed up to her quickly.

Within a week of my internship ending, and transferring to Cook County in a different capacity, a co-worker and I were discussing the case. I lamented that the young lady would be gone for life. My co-worker was astounded. How could I possibly not realize that she deserved precisely the sentence she would get? She killed in cold blood.

Slowly, it dawned on me. I got taken in. She enjoyed having a contemporary to talk to, someone to 'trick', someone who knew a little bit about the law. Hell, maybe I was just 'practice' for her manipulation skills.

Regardless, to any of you who may think it's not feasible that Jodi could fool a jury - I disagree. Luckily, I don't think she has the time available to her (just a few days on the stand) to weave her web. I don't THINK she can pull it off.

And I know that I PRAY she does not.

Just my two cents, so sorry for rambling.

Did they talk about stoning in the good book too? cause I'd be all for that in this case. :)

she watches too much TV. She thought he'd go down fast and he didn't.
Young healthy man and she did not cut an artery right away and the gunshot to the head came down at an angle, right eyebrow through the face, out the cheek. That shot, if stand alone, a person could survive with a bit of a scar at the temple and on the cheek. combined with many stab wounds and the slice to the throat, well.

Like we sometimes see a fatal one shot killing, maybe it goes right through the heart, or carotid artery (neck) but if you don't hit anything vital right away, it's torture, bleed to death. I don't even want to imagine.

I'm sorry but I have to address the "dated for only five months" issue.

The months they "officially" dated are February through June 2007, which would make it only FOUR months and not five!

This is such a pet peeve of mine!

I'm constantly correcting my ten year old daughter with this over-sight (she says 9am to 12pm is 4 hours).

I'm sorry, but we just can't let her take another month of a title she doesn't even deserve.

It is the month of Feb-1, Mar-2, Apr-3, May-4, Jun-5.
