Something no one has pointed out but I need to. Even *if* (and that's a very dubious if) Travis was "looking at pics of boys and masturbating to them" that isn't illegal UNLESS the pictures were of naked boys. If these were just random pictures and not child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 then technically-speaking Travis didn't break any laws. Laws of his church, perhaps, but not laws of AZ.

JM will for sure ask her why, if she walked into such a scene, she didn't walk out of his life for good and/or report his behavior to someone in the church.

Nothing, but nothing about what they are trying to insinuate has ANYTHING to do with a self-defense claim, where JA was in fear of her life or had a reason to be on 6/4/08. Not one iota.

Doubt it. Go look at a pic of a .25 of you don't already know what one looks like. It's like a toy and practically is. If it's not held directly to your temple or the base of your skull (which it wasn't in this case) it probably won't kill you and is most definitely worth the chance of trying to knock it out of the perps hands.

My personal opinion:

Most people may be like me - They don't own a gun. They may have ZERO EXPERIENCE with guns.
So a gun - ANY GUN - would look extremely dangerous and deadly; especially if that gun was being pointed at them in any type of threatening manner.

Personally: If anyone - regardless of their physical size was pointing ANY TYPE of a gun at me: I'd be inclined to obey them, rather than take a chance of being shot during the process of "knocking the gun out of their hands."

Not everyone has the same knowlegdge you seem to have about guns - SO, perhaps Travis Alexander lacked knowledge about the type gun Jodie Arias used. Perhaps Travis Alexander had the same type "fear of guns" I have, and that many many other people have of guns. That's somethng we just don't know, right?.

That's my opinion - if it helps your understanding at all.

On the Southeast coast and in the Southeast in general, it is an entirely different situation. I don't know many homes without a gun.

Sorry I should have qualified my statement. I agree, it is regional.

As I was transcribing part of Jodi's testimony, there was a particularly boring part where the camera cut to a close up of Juan Martinez. His eyelids fluttered and he actually nodded off! He caught himself a moment later and rubbed his eyes and tried to wake up.

If the prosecutor can't stay awake during the defendants testimony -- how engaged could the jury be?

I TOTALLY SAW THAT TOO! It was sometime of the beginning of last week! Like day two of her taking the stand. I specifically remembered lol, really OUt loud! ha!

Has this been posted today? This article states that the judge is going to let Jodi lie on the stand about Travis being a pedophile.

But in a closed hearing Thursday, lawyers for the defense and the prosecution argued over whether Arias, who was in attendance, should be allowed to testify that she walked in on Alexander while he was masturbating to photographs of young boys.

Judge Sherry Stephens unsealed the transcript of the hearing after she determined that the evidence was admissible.

Do we know if Alyce Laviolenelette has interviewed JA? ;)

bbm

Her first recorded stop was on the outskirts of Salt Lake City where traffic police stopped her for an upside-down licence plate.

Hope that helps. :)

I didn't know this. I bet she s**t a brick!

Ps Sherriff Joe has consolidated breakfast and lunch to "brunch" which is bread, peanut butter, piece of fruit and something else. That's what she gets.

Ah gotcha! Is that part done with just the judge? The jury only gives the verdict and the judge determines the sentence?

No, it's all argued to the jury, and the jury determines sentence.

It's called the penalty phase -- and mitigating or aggravating circumstances can be considered. So if she's convicted of first degree murder, the penalty phase will focus on whether she should be sentenced to life or receive the death penalty.

Ohio uses the term "mitigation phase" btw. Not sure if any other states do, but I learned it that way back in my Ohio days! LOL

Yes, we've all been talking about it. Nobody, here at least, believes her story. I do understand why the judge is allowing it though. The defense has a DV expert saying that this incident and "2 other DV incidents" are relevant to her state of mind the day of the murder. I think it said something like her knowing such a big secret of his would make her more scared of him. Uh-huh. :banghead: I doubt the judge actually believes her, but she can't really deny her testifying it when she says it was witnessed first hand and a DV expert tying it to her state of mind.

It's awful for the family that they'll have to sit and listen to these LIES, but I have no doubt that Juan will get the truth out during cross! She's already changed her story from seeing him on the computer (no evidence of 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬) to saying he had pictures on the bed. She's grabbing at straws trying to get the jury to feel bad for her and think Travis was a horrible guy. It's not going to work.

MOO

Thanks. I have only heard it called penalty phase in my state

I remember one interview where LE did say they found her hair, and JA said that she was over there all the time. LE said they could tell the hair wasn't old -- something about its root.

I think she put Travis back in the shower to wash him off (didn't she have a few cuts?) and then she washed herself off, too. She did probably check for hair, or try to.

She also thought the fingerprints at the scene were no problem because she was there so much, but she didn't expect to leave one in blood! I don't think she did wear gloves. She seemed very satisfied that her fingerprints being there would make sense.

I love how her self-importance about her knowledge caused her to screw up so much!

Another newbie (from Scotland ) this time. Quick hello to all !! Been following this trial so far and love the fact that its online. Nice to meet you all.:seeya:

Oh wow. I always though it was the judge that gave the sentence, but the jury could make their recommendation. This soley based on watching TV shows like Snapped Lol. Interesting!

Thank you!

It's very regional I think...I'm also in the US and the only person I know who has one is a cop.

You'd be surprised. It is not wise to go round advertising you are carrying concealed. Just like its not a good idea to put an NRA sticker on your front door. Thieves know you have goodies And will wait til you leave to the coast is clear to rob you of them. No one says "HEY everyone, I am packing!" Or I have an arsenal worth ten's of thousands of dollars inside.

I've been lurking here since the beginning of this trial, but this is my first post. I don't actually watch the trial, just follow your comments -- in other words, you watch so I don't have to, for which I am VERY grateful!!

I have been trying to gauge Jodi's testimony with the idea that the DV expert will make sense of it all. Much of the testimony seems pretty pointless. But is it possible that the DV expert is going to say that given this circumstance, that occurrence, blah, blah, blah, that Jodi PERCEIVED herself as in danger, even if the rest of us can't see it? That while I would not have felt the need to defend myself, Jodi did because of what's happened to her during her life?

Welcome!I'm sure that's their hope,I sure can't see any reasonable thinking jury agreeing though.

I know a lot of people don't like Sherriff Joe and think he goes too far or whatever, but I say go Joe! Especially for people like her. I voted for him.
