According to Beth K on In Session, at least part of the holdup is because the defendant is very upset about testifying about the murder that she committed.

"My" psychopath used to have anxiety attacks before giving public speeches, because she stuttered badly (since childhood). She didn't stutter so much unless she was forced to give speeches or something.

It was all about her and her image to the world, of course. It really, really bothers them if they think they'll look bad. It was real anxiety, though. It's strange how some things that bother normal people don't raise their pulse and other things can. Imho, it all depends on how personally they take it, so they can get upset about things that affect themselves/their image very much.

They don't get upset about stressful situations they think they can control, though. 'My" psychopath couldn't control her stuttering, thus the anxiety.

I think you're unto something there writer7. I think it may boil down to how the psychopath thinks he or she may be viewed, it is about image. Maybe Jodi got worked up because her bent finger isn't perfect like the rest of her? I read she has had her done and her nose worked on but she hasn't gotten around to getting her finger straightened. Darn Travis and that whole thing about the crime stopping her from getting it straightened.

Agree I had to shut it down ... and she mixes up facts constantly and she has weird perceptions on things, I find her very unrealistic and unintelligent. And yeah what on earth is with the yelling .. why don't they get rid of her and put someone half decent in her timeslot?

I think besides JA's nerves there is a problem with people sitting in the courtroom making facial expressions. I saw TA's sister mouth the word "no" in front of the jury yesterday, while shaking her head no, when the testimony was revealed about little boys. There was a lot of eye rolling etc going on. I commented to my husband yesterday that they would put a stop to all that today. They have done commented today that it could become an appellate issue if she is convicted.
