She is basically describing her own bi-polar nature right now.

why does the judge allow nurmi to comment when jm obects?

If it gets where the judge thinks it is out of control, she will stop it. Right now, I believe everyone is trying to keep it civil for the jury's benefit. She certainly can tell him to stop, but sometimes it is best to let him go. The jury notices how he is treating those around him. Coupled with the smirking behind him, IMO it does not create a good impression for the defense or the defendant. He is obviously flustered - as is everyone - and I honestly can't blame him. He is fighting a tornado with a toothpick.

I find it eerie...to me, JA's striped shirt is reminiscent of the pinstripe suit we see Travis in, in some of the photos...

I know it's probably a dumb question and I should know after 10+years of following trials but... What function does the Mitigator serve in/during trial?

I looked it up but the definition didn't help much. :waitasec:

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Mitigator

They watch the jury during the entire trial. Notice she's only watching the jury during Court. She needs to know how they are reacting, if at all, to the testimony that is being given. It helps them craft how they need to proceed, if need be, at the mitigation phase (or penalty phase).

Someone needs to tell the mitigation specialist that her repeated smiles and laughter during a DP murder trial of a young man could really anger the jurors.

This is a serious matter. A man was slaughtered and a woman may lose her life for having slaughtered him. Isn't it her job to know this, and how she might come across? Sheesh!

"I don't know what kind of cloud...uhm.....it could have been a cirrus, it was uhm...puffy, but not so puffy as the cumulus-nimbus. More like a strato-cumulus but flatter, like a alto-stratus typs cloud. But it could also have been a uhmmm......sirro-stratus.....uhm......I'm not sure"

Psychological projection is a form of defense mechanism in which someone attributes thoughts, feelings, and ideas which are perceived as undesirable to someone else. For example, someone who harbors racist ideas while believing that racism is socially undesirable might come to believe that a friend is racist, projecting his or her racism onto the other person. Projection may manifest in all kinds of ways, and while it may be a defense mechanism, it can also be very destructive.

The concept of psychological projection was developed by Dr. Sigmund Freud, a noted figure in the field of psychology. Dr. Freud believed that people used psychological projection to reduce their own stress or feelings of guilt, thus protecting themselves psychologically. This psychological phenomenon is sometimes referred to as “Freudian projection” in reference to Dr. Freud's work in the field.

In a general sense, psychological projection can mean that people assume that other people share their thoughts or beliefs, good or bad. For example, someone who likes dogs might assume that all people like dogs, or an unfaithful spouse might conclude that everyone is unfaithful, since this would reflect his or her own experiences. As a defense mechanism, this allows people to feel more comfortable about themselves because they think they see traits in common with others.

She "threatened him back" - said she would tell people he was a pedophile with a past.

WTH is she smiling about?

She's lying. I think she's having so much fun trashing Travis that she doesn't realize she smiles while she tells her ginormous fairy tale.
