As much as her unconscienable defense team has drug out this smoke and mirrors defense of distraction, I hope Juan Martinez takes the exact same tactic. In terms of dragging out every single minute detail of the MURDER. From the gun theft, to the rental car, to the hair dye, to the license plates, to the turning off the cell phone and every single minute detail of the murder (yes for example where/when/how did she clean off all that blood?, did she use gloves, how she had the gun and knife so handy, which wounds came when, etc. etc. etc). Let the jury be subjected to every single detail possible of her CRIME. Let her have to sit up there and answer to every single tiny detail...even as she lies, let the jury see and hear it all.

I just hope some of that starts this week...or even this month.

You can see it during the scene in which the Phantom Zone criminals are blowing a large section of a Metropolis street over with there super-breaths. The car is on it's roof during that scene and the plate (standard NY 70s orange and blue color, although it's not a NY plate) is upside down.

I want to think I saw shame. Jodi said Travis was the one that was a pervert and sexual deviant, and great manipulator of poor Jodi, but we saw Jodi as the one that kept the sex talk going, and spoke of a new fantasy with (that some would call perverted) Travis having sex with her breasts. It was Jodi as the aggressor, the instigator, and the manipulator of that call.

I respectfully disagree. Jodi hasn't shown shame, or remorse the entire trial. Jodi cried because Jodi didn't get her way. For days, Jodi has had control of the courtroom. Her understanding was only the part where TA talked about sounding like a 12 yr old girl would be played. Martinez thought the ENTIRE tape should be played. He called the DT's bluff! If you wanna play hard ball.. Let's play (DT may be players... but Juan is the coach!) Jodi didn't like not being able to call the shots. She needs to be/or feel like she has some kind of control.
Shame? Nahh She's not ashamed. She is VERY proud of herself and all of her antics! She is a liar and an actress. She's fooled people with her lies all of her life. It's what she does. MOO

Perhaps common, but how often successful? I don't think she has a hope in hello on that, but it's JMHO.

ETA: Maybe one of the verified lawyers could chime in on that? From what I understand her lawyers would have to be glaringly ineffective for that to be considered. I don't see that in her case.

Oh they will appeal on it for sure (with the DP it's really just a given). But most appeals are NOT effective. Most are preposterous (one of my sister's killers launched an appeal on the fact I sat in the courtroom between turns on the stand--I testified about 4 times I think...kept getting called back--but it's in the Victims Bill of Rights that I could remain in the courtroom and still testify). Most don't result in anything. But it doesn't mean they don't try every single tiny thing to appeal on. It's insane really.

I suspect we'll also see a mental retardation appeal on Arias. We spent 7 years on that for both my sister's killers...and it worked for one of them.

OT There's a case on the news right this minute where a woman is getting fired from a christian college for having pre-marital sex. :what: Her bf worked there and wasn't fired. They have since married. Gloria Allred is their attorney.

She is/was pregnant too? It is not fair that the man did not get fired, but it is a Christian college so I am not surprised at all. She really should have known better to not work at a Christian college if she was going to take the chance she may become pg and her "sins" would be obvious. I think there was a morals clause in her contract but it did not spell out premarital sex is a big NO! I could be wrong about the contract.

Strange she was not given the opportunity to "repent".

Awwww....moonbird, what a beautiful, comforting sentiment. I wish his family and friends could read those simple words, because I feel certain they would bring a moment of comfort to them. Those simple words really touched my heart.

With all the ugliness, lies, and gruesome violence of this young man's brutal murder, the TRUTH of his life, and his personality, has ensured that even 4 years after his death, he IS still making friends. If he were still living, I feel equally certain that he would still be making friends today.

Thinking about KC actually being the center of attention in social scenes. She had both guy and girl actual friends. Jodi is described much quieter and nobody knew much about her. She may have been different around groups of men, but seems lacking in close women friends. I don't know what to make of the difference because they both seem narcissistic to the max. Both are dangerous, but Jodi's quiet sneaky ways scare me more.

Okay, I realize none of us see her as quiet anymore. :laughcry:

Agree, these appeals are pretty well automatic. But I don't think they're successful in most cases. And I don't see it happening in this case. At least I hope and pray it doesn't lease:.

I've never had to see it from the side you see it from, and I thank my lucky stars for that. I hope and pray that the animals that so callously took the life of your sister continue to pay for what they did. You're an inspiration katie, and a true voice for the victims in these terrible crimes. And you provide an insight that most of us, but for the grace of God, never have.

Here's hoping you can give Dr. Drew a wake up call next week so he'll quit smoking the hookah pipe and get with reality. Your WS buddies are SO proud of you, and when you come on TV I drag my whole family into the living room and say "that's her, that's her".

Yikes. Really? Over his body? In that small shower stall?? It's obvious he was showered off, once positioned. But her?

Wow. You may be right. But.....wow. I'm speechless. That's hard for me to envision, but I suppose it's possible.

Some have suggested that the cup was for washing *him* off. I don't know if Jodi would have used the shower for herself, it wouldn't have been efficient and could have risked leaving evidence of herself there or on the body (hair) because it could not drain well with him in it. Clearly she had considered the scene in her actions after she killed him, not only because of the washing machine and the staging of the body, but her confidence in that she would not be linked to the scene.

He did however have a separate tub, which she also waxed poetically about. It also depends upon how quickly she left the scene.

Strongly agree!

Duping delight. She is internally thrilled when she is able to fool someone with her lies. A potent ego motivator for pathological liars, and those with personality disorders. We are all "stoopid" for accepting/ listening to her lies, and she cannot conceal her leaks of delight and disdain. (That's partly, imo, why she was so angry and upset before the sex tape was played in open court. Loss of control of HER secret piece of evidence she delighted in capturing.)

Getting away with lying is a big ego stroke for these liars. It reinforces to them that they really ARE superior and smarter than their pathetic and vulnerable audience.

What I have observed of Jodi on the witness stand is that she vacillates between acting her part earnestly, and leaking signs of duping delight (smirks, overt flirtatiousness, smiles, etc.)

Though not cut and dried under the formal, legal meaning, I think common sense of any reasonable person could say with a high level of confidence that she has perjured herself many times over.

The jury can toss all, some or none of any part or many parts of her testimony.

I think they'll do just that.

At this point, their lives, their livelihoods and their responsibilities as jurors are being blatantly and cavalierly insulted. By what I believe is more lie than truth, as well as by the drawn out tedium of the defense making themselves and the defendant increasingly unlikeable and lacking credibility every moment that goes by like this.

I think that's how the lies will be tossed with legally. By the jury.

Well a zillion sex toy ads popped up so I closed that tab, but it makes me think that the red caboose is probably like "the rabbit" or some other vibrator. Once again she's trying to make TA sound bad and trying to make it sound like he really wanted her to do things with a toy train. I suppose it could have been a toy train (i don't want to research this further) but it just seems she has to go above and beyond to make him a horrible person. It really disgusts me. HAHA When she said a red caboose I thought.. Whaaaaaaaaaat? WHY a little red caboose? Who knows what goes on in her head. I also thought it was strange that when asked what age the little boy in the picture was.. she struggled.. as if she either hadnt thought about it or wasn't sure what age she should say. I felt a 5 or 6 year old was very odd... I was expecting her to 'assume' 9 or 10. She clearly drew straws when she talked about those two subjects. Even a blind, idiot could tell she was lying!:what:

Yes!! When I heard her say "toys", I automatically assumed she was describing sex toys. I was actually a bit confused when she talked about the caboose/ train as possibly a children's toy. Nurmi NEVER asked her to describe or explain what she was talking about as "toys." I think there is a pretty good chance what she was describing is a sex toy, not a children's toy. If you go back and listen, she ONLY says "toys" on the floor, running it over my body, etc. So there may be a kernal of truth in the likely attempt to misrepresent Travis as a pedophile.
