The question posed above is interesting. Most observers of this case will conclude that JA is a psychopath. But actually little historical characterological information has been forthcoming in the defense testimony or on talk shows. She “successfully” lived with a man for over 4 years!!!! That takes some skill in navigating conflict and negotiating compromises. Nobody to my knowledge has stated that JA was frequently caught in lies – ala Casey Anthony.
Most people simply say that she evoked a certain”creepiness” and that she had a “blank soulless stare”. A lot of former acquaintances say she was very “private” and rarely talked about herself or discussed any of her problems.
She obviously was highly skilled in creating an evocative sexy persona which would be attractive to males and a total “turn off” to females.

BUT to my knowledge she:
*Never broke the law
* never was arrested ie no DUIs no shoplifting etc
* was never fired from her food service jobs (???)
*paid her bills as best she could
*owned a car
*successfully held and used a credit card and a cell phone
*was never “jilted” or shunned by all her prior male suitors.

So it would seem- correct me if I am wrong here!!! – JA never demonstrated past behavior which would be characterized by a forensic psychologist as “psychopathy” or “sociopathy”!!!

she was cheated on by all prior boyfriends she has testified about

Slightly OT- many, if not most, carriers only keep texts for a limited amount of time. I think Verizon keeps them 3 days. Depending on who the carriers were, the texts may have been gone by the time Travis was found.

In cases where the carrier doesn't have preserved texts, you can have a forensic person recover them from the actual cell phones.

Not sure this is correct. I used to work in a dept that had to testify in court (ala: Jody Citizen), and you'd be surprised how far back records can be pulled for.

I never testified (too nervous, and I think now only folks from the legal dept go to court), but a co-worker had to go testify about the guy in DC who tried to blow up his dad for insurance money (back in like Oct 2001), and his brother had taken his dad's car that day. The brother survived but was BADLY injured. She said it was unreal hearing the testimony.

Thanks! Then delete "dad" and insert "grandad".

Of course, who knows if he really even said that. I did see some posts last night that calling each other gay or pedophiles was a sort of "humor" between TA and his friends, so maybe he did say that, thinking he was being funny?

It just sounds really middle school to me so I sort of doubt it happened.

I just posted about this:

So I'm gonna write a little play about a stupid argument between JA and TA {insert your own context}:

TA: Why are u being such a b***h?

JA: How dare you call me a b***h? If my brother Carl, who can bench press 500 lbs, knew that you called me that he would kick your fa**** @$$.

TA: Carl is going to kick my 🤬🤬🤬? Carl is a fa***** name.

JA: Yeah well he was named after my grandfather.

TA: Well then your gf was a fa*****, too.

Fin

In case it is not clear, this conversation was completely made up by me.

Excellent points.

I think that is how she was able to at least initially fool people and insert herself into their lives.

Even Sky said that Jodi was just the nicest girl you'd ever want to meet and that Travis was smitten with her and they really thought that Jodi might be "the one".

I think that alot of the "creepiness" we see in her now is with the benefit of hindsight. It appears that previously, it took a little time for people to figure out something wasn't quite right there.

It's kind of like looking at mugshots and seeing the "evil", but if you saw a regular photo of the person and didn't have any clue about the crime they'd committed, you might not so easily see that "hollow, empty, evil" thing.

If that makes any sense.

i hope i do this right but this is what i saw

at 19:30 when she breaks down a bit, I believe her. She said:

"he was kneeling down in the shower...and I don't really know what happened after that"

Her body language before she says that is believable. I did not know she ever said he was kneeling down before just now.

I always said he either bent over toward the shower head, or bent down, the shot went through the right eye brown in a downward motion exit left cheek.

I say she shot first, he kneels down, she lifts the gun shoots him through the right temple expecting a fatal shot through the temple. He was below her (hence all the blood low in the shower) Because he was kneeling the bullet didn't go straight through his head, it went down at an angle, not a fatal shot, simply due to his kneeling.

I think he surprised her by stumbling to his feet, he got up, he was dazed but then tried to fight back.

Then the frenzy ensued with the knife.

18:20 on...

Impossible that the shot came first. It entered the brain, would have caused a neurological shock and immediately incapacitated him. That's according to the medical examiner. A surprise stab to the heart area came first. Jodi was so far gone at this time that she wanted to inflict maximum pain and suffering -- forgoing the gun in favor of the stabbing weapon she brought.

I'm going to have to disagree with the m.e. then, that it incapacitated him.

I was also angry at her for calling her sister dumb, stupid and letting the world know of her PERSONAL demons (drugs, abuse, etc). WHO DOES THAT?!??! oh yeah, JODI does!!!!! Cruel. Heartless. Evil.

I don't know why Nurmi wanted to know the reason why JA called her sister a name. What does that have to do with her murder trial?!! I felt bad for Angela and of course the camera had to pan to her to catch her reaction.

That said, Angela Arias has a public Myspace where she talks about her life, addiction and getting baptized. She is happy she is getting her life back together. She talks about that and JA on her Myspace blog Oct. 11, 2008.

I am just disgusted with Nurmi asking her about the comment about her sister..low blow Probably trying to drag the case out longer than it needs to be. :moo:

18:20 on...at 19:05 you see her relive the first shot she fired. She feels it

The ME testified the gunshot would have incapacitated him, and since he had defensive wounds, the shot would have had to come later, possibly even after he was dead. It would have done enough damage to the brain to render him unable to fight off his attacker.

If she shot last, she would have to get inside the shower, climb over him and shoot him in the head. He was facing the opposite way by then

Travis was very conservative both politically and religiously. I doubt he had any gay friends (or at least that he KNEW of).

I know some people think that kind of joking around is just silly fun loving guy stuff.

I'm not one of them.

MOO

I am conservative both politically and religiously. I have a LOT of gay friends.

I joke about all types of personalities, beliefs, people's quirks, OCD, personal preferences....everything. None of it is done in a mean or spiteful way and it is never behind someone's back.

To generalize about any one type of person is doing exactly what you say you don't like others to do.

(I'm not picking a fight with you...I really like you personally...but, just jumping off your posts since you're voicing your opinions too)

Seriously though...
People say stupid, childish crap when they are arguing even in middle age.

I've seen it with my own two eyes.

Like in the movie, 40 Year Old Virgin where the guys always give each other a hard time and say, "Ya know how I know you're gay?? *insert silly insult here*"

OMG!!! 40 year old virgin stars Steve Carrell. Isn't that the name of the guy she was chatting online with when TA supposedly hacked her Gmail?!?!??!?!?!

Did he kneel down in prayer when he saw the gun? Guess we will never know.

I too would have to go back and listen and the pregnant comment may also be in the same portion of convo but what I recalled Jodi saying was some reference to a sexual term that Angela did not know what it meant and Jodi was ridiculing her naivety. So I think "dumb" covered a lot of area in Jodi's book.

No! Sorry. She didn't mention Angela being pregnant. But at the time Angela was having lots of issues and acting out and either was pregnant or had already had the baby (i think). So I took the stupid comment to mean the way she was messing up her life.

Like I said, I could have that wrong. It just didn't sound like an "IQ" kind of stupid she was talking about.

The science supports it. The shell casing found on the dried blood also supports it. Further the gunshot came from at least two feet away, not from a very close distance.

IMO he was a fool ... Her getting pregnant should have been the least of his worries.

I routinely have to request cell records are preserved in anticipation of getting a court order and most carriers do not keep the actual texts more than a few days. Some rare carriers keep text content do but most, in my experience, don't. You have to make sure you get them preserved the minute you think they may be important.

http://www.theverge.com/2012/12/3/3722996/police-ask-congress-preserve-sms-logs-two-years
Police call on Congress to require that carriers maintain SMS logs for two years Dec 3, 2012
"Carriers generally store rudimentary data for past messages (the numbers involved, a timestamp of when the conversation occurred, etc.) for several months, but the actual content of those chats can be permanently lost within days. A Justice Department memo publicized last year shows that Verizon stores detailed logs for between three and five days while AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile apparently keep no such records at all."

Thank you for edifying me. I like learn something new here all the time. However I was not talking about the actual content or words. I am saying that the carriers do indeed keep records of the phone numbers receiving the texts and the date/timestamps. I know this because I had to go back a few years on my ex's acct when we divorced.

My point is that as long as travis's records shows he sent "a text" to Jodi's number at the date/time her records show, then it helps to legitimize her claim that the text came from Travis. This also would negate any theory that Jodi used two phones to replicate a fake exchange between herself and Travis. However, and you further prove my point, if Jodi had access to Travis's phone, she could have faked that text exchange and deleted the texts on his end to erase her trail. The phone company timestamp records would corroborate her story AND as you pointed out, there would be no way for anyone to see what she had done (not even Travis, had he attempted to monitor his own phone records) because the carrier does not store content.
