There are some youtube people who post every bit of the trial online. You can watch it there whenever you want to. If you go to youtube and put in a simple search for jodi arias you will see every bit of the trial recorded there.

my head hurts too. i am so glad i have a boring "normal" life.
JODI killed him, she planned to kill him, she got caught --due to good police work-- and now she is is lying to save her skin; enough already.

Barney Rubble or Barney Fife could have figured this one out, even on the 911 call they had their suspects name.

Everything posted above may be 100% accurate. But nothing stated above speaks to the proposition that JA was a psychopath or an inveterate liar.
She was taking your post, seemingly as evidence she wasn't a psychopath, point by point. :waitasec: And she is correct - Jodi's history is filled with parasitic, impulsive and irresponsible behavior very consistent with psychopathy.

The very definition of a psychopath is a person displaying a lack of remorse, shallow emotions, impulsivity, irresponsibility, superficial charm, egocentricity, deceit, lack of empathy, easily bored, manipulativeness and a parasitic lifestyle. People who have no conscience and will manipulate and engineer events and people surrounding them with the sole purpose of gaining what they want - with no regard for the effect their actions may have on others.

With the very little known history we do have access to (including Jodi's testimony) one really doesn't have to look far to see aspects of each of the above. The belief that symptoms of psychopathy must be evident in childhood or adolescence such as conduct disorder, or that a patient must have a criminal or violent history, are consistent with forming a diagnosis of antisocial personality disorder which is not the same as psychopathy at all. No such distinction nor requirement is necessary to reach a conclusion of psychopathy or sociopathy.

And I would definitely argue that the last four and a half years are evidence in and of itself of her inveterate lying. Ninjas, anyone?

Watching IN, and marveling at Jodi's long hands and fingers. She has hands that should have been used to play guitar or piano. It was her decision to use her hands to kill instead.

If they are cutting the court case time to two hours a day, I will never be watching that channel anymore. Stupid channel.

It's too bad they are doing this. I recently found 2 other members of my family watch the trials. They were complaining how TruTV doesn't have trial coverage like the old Court TV. It is all crap now. I guess we will all have to watch online. I don't understand why they are doing this. Surely they get the viewers. Everyone talks about it at their work.

I think it's a reflection of the water droplets and the color cast of the low lighting in the bathroom.
The first time I saw it I thought there were scratches, but upon looking more closely it looks like weird lighting/poor quality photo. :)

Moo :moo::moo:

'Zactly... :)

I agree. If you think about, JA HAS to be relating what happened because at this point she doesn't know what evidence LE has; she would need this info to construct a story around it.

What she is saying is not pure fiction.

MOO!!!!!

The way she describes him shot in the head, screaming and she was kneeling and put her hand on his back and said are you ok? And she said he got to his knees kind of but his hand holding the side of his head and he was saying "go get help go get help" then she really breaks down.

I just keep saying how could you have done this.. omg...

It's interesting JA describes the costume wearing in the sexual fantasies, then the costumed ninjas are the murderers.

  • #910
and everyone is correct, if the gunshot wound to the head was first (as I suspect) it did cause him to fall backward, there is no evidence he got up again. Then next photo is the ceiling, then her dragging him. So it did incapacitate him which would not be in dispute.

IMO He got back up because all the blood at the sink was like someone standing over it.

The question posed above is interesting. Most observers of this case will conclude that JA is a psychopath. But actually little historical characterological information has been forthcoming in the defense testimony or on talk shows. She “successfully” lived with a man for over 4 years!!!! That takes some skill in navigating conflict and negotiating compromises. Nobody to my knowledge has stated that JA was frequently caught in lies – ala Casey Anthony.
Most people simply say that she evoked a certain”creepiness” and that she had a “blank soulless stare”. A lot of former acquaintances say she was very “private” and rarely talked about herself or discussed any of her problems.
She obviously was highly skilled in creating an evocative sexy persona which would be attractive to males and a total “turn off” to females.

BUT to my knowledge she:
*Never broke the law
* never was arrested ie no DUIs no shoplifting etc
* was never fired from her food service jobs (???)
*paid her bills as best she could
*owned a car
*successfully held and used a credit card and a cell phone
*was never “jilted” or shunned by all her prior male suitors.

So it would seem- correct me if I am wrong here!!! – JA never demonstrated past behavior which would be characterized by a forensic psychologist as “psychopathy” or “sociopathy”!!!

It would be interesting to hear from people from her past. And yes, I think most of us who believe she shows evidence of being a psychopath or sociopath are gleaning that mostly from what we have heard and seen since she knew Travis.

But there are some clues, I think. These are the characteristics of a sociopath or psychopath. Not all will apply. I have bolded the ones I think that may apply to jodi arias (among possible others on the list):

Dr. Hare's Checklist (Sociopathic Traits)
1. GLIB and SUPERFICIAL CHARM -- the tendency to be smooth, engaging, charming, slick, and verbally facile. Sociopathic charm is not in the least shy, self-conscious, or afraid to say anything. A sociopath never gets tongue-tied. They have freed themselves from the social conventions about taking turns in talking, for example.
2. GRANDIOSE SELF-WORTH -- a grossly inflated view of one's abilities and self-worth, self-assured, opinionated, cocky, a braggart. Sociopaths are arrogant people who believe they are superior human beings.
3. NEED FOR STIMULATION or PRONENESS TO BOREDOM -- an excessive need for novel, thrilling, and exciting stimulation; taking chances and doing things that are risky. Sociopaths often have low self-discipline in carrying tasks through to completion because they get bored easily. They fail to work at the same job for any length of time, for example, or to finish tasks that they consider dull or routine.
4. PATHOLOGICAL LYING -- can be moderate or high; in moderate form, they will be shrewd, crafty, cunning, sly, and clever; in extreme form, they will be deceptive, deceitful, underhanded, unscrupulous, manipulative, and dishonest.
5. CONNING AND MANIPULATIVENESS- the use of deceit and deception to cheat, con, or defraud others for personal gain; distinguished from Item #4 in the degree to which exploitation and callous ruthlessness is present, as reflected in a lack of concern for the feelings and suffering of one's victims.
6. LACK OF REMORSE OR GUILT -- a lack of feelings or concern for the losses, pain, and suffering of victims; a tendency to be unconcerned, dispassionate, coldhearted, and un empathic. This item is usually demonstrated by a disdain for one's victims.
7. SHALLOW AFFECT -- emotional poverty or a limited range or depth of feelings; interpersonal coldness in spite of signs of open gregariousness.
8. CALLOUSNESS and LACK OF EMPATHY -- a lack of feelings toward people in general; cold, contemptuous, inconsiderate, and tactless.
9. PARASITIC LIFESTYLE -- an intentional, manipulative, selfish, and exploitative financial dependence on others as reflected in a lack of motivation, low self-discipline, and inability to begin or complete responsibilities.
10. POOR BEHAVIORAL CONTROLS -- expressions of irritability, annoyance, impatience, threats, aggression, and verbal abuse; inadequate control of anger and temper; acting hastily.
11. PROMISCUOUS SEXUAL BEHAVIOR -- a variety of brief, superficial relations, numerous affairs, and an indiscriminate selection of sexual partners; the maintenance of several relationships at the same time; a history of attempts to sexually coerce others into sexual activity or taking great pride at discussing sexual exploits or conquests.
12. EARLY BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS -- a variety of behaviors prior to age 13, including lying, theft, cheating, vandalism, bullying, sexual activity, fire-setting, glue-sniffing, alcohol use, and running away from home.
13. LACK OF REALISTIC, LONG-TERM GOALS -- an inability or persistent failure to develop and execute long-term plans and goals; a nomadic existence, aimless, lacking direction in life.
14. IMPULSIVITY -- the occurrence of behaviors that are unpremeditated and lack reflection or planning; inability to resist temptation, frustrations, and urges; a lack of deliberation without considering the consequences; foolhardy, rash, unpredictable, erratic, and reckless.
15. IRRESPONSIBILITY -- repeated failure to fulfill or honor obligations and commitments; such as not paying bills, defaulting on loans, performing sloppy work, being absent or late to work, failing to honor contractual agreements.
16. FAILURE TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR OWN ACTIONS -- a failure to accept responsibility for one's actions reflected in low conscientiousness, an absence of dutifulness, antagonistic manipulation, denial of responsibility, and an effort to manipulate others through this denial.
17. MANY SHORT-TERM MARITAL RELATIONSHIPS -- a lack of commitment to a long-term relationship reflected in inconsistent, undependable, and unreliable commitments in life, including marital.
18. JUVENILE DELINQUENCY -- behavior problems between the ages of 13-18; mostly behaviors that are crimes or clearly involve aspects of antagonism, exploitation, aggression, manipulation, or a callous, ruthless tough-mindedness.
19. REVOCATION OF CONDITION RELEASE -- a revocation of probation or other conditional release due to technical violations, such as carelessness, low deliberation, or failing to appear.
20. CRIMINAL VERSATILITY -- a diversity of types of criminal offenses, regardless if the person has been arrested or convicted for them; taking great pride at getting away with crimes.

Most of what I have bolded can be gleaned from jodi's interviews with media and police and her affect after murdering Travis.

Her testimony regarding her childhood history and allegations of abuse struck some as evidence of very frustrated parents trying to deal with an out of control child. There is a rumor? that she broke her little brother's arm with a bseball bat when they were children. She testified that she skipped final exams and was ditching school. She failed to graduate. It is unlikely that she became promiscuous overnight.

She testifies to a stream of boyfriends that she went through in succession, with overlaps. The longest relationship is with Daryl but she left him the very moment something better came along. I think he was the best thing she had until then. Note how easily she left her boyfriend's little boy, who she lived with for sometime, with never any further contact.

Sociopaths and psychopaths often exhibit criminality, have a list of charges, explosive tempers, etc. I think she might have exhibited explosiveness when younger but we don't know for sure. Regardless, not all sociopaths and psychopaths evidence every one of the traits on the list.

I recommend reading The Sociopath Next Door by Martha Stout. Fascinating read. Many, many sociopaths lead "normal" lives, married, with kids, in business, and few know the truth of who they are. Many learn to hide it.

I mean, look at BTK, or Ted Bundy or a host of other serial killers who effectively hid their true natures from most people.

They also are very effective at slipping out of legal trouble because often, the people they victimize are ashamed that they had been taken in by such a person.

Re-listening to JA in the initial interrogation tape:

IF she is to be believed, it sounded as though both TA and JA may have been on their knees just prior to hell breaking loose.

Wonder if they were in prayer?
Kneeling position would certainly be a better position for TA to lunge at JA, rather than from the seated position.

Ugh...the way she says he was shot in the head (she does say he was sitting, then he was shot in the head) then she holds her head, very nervous, closes her eyes (reliving it) and sort of shakes her hands (get this visual out of my head) and says "and Travis was screaming"

19:20 on. If I did not know better, that is very convincing and her emotion, she is just fibbing about "who" did that...

The description of Travis holding his head screaming sounds very real, and that precipitated the panic to me. Screaming and not dying, she would not know what to do. Help him or keep going. She kept going.

Jodi Arias Trial: Jodi Arias' Police Interrogation - YouTube

Not sure who could listen to that part and not think he was doing just what she said...
She said he kept screaming, but not like a girl.. just "ahhhhhh" then he said "go get help"
she said he wasn't getting up he was just sitting there screaming the whole time

Omg.. poor man.

Notice how she has her knees up in the chair. Trying to act like a child. And she is lying her butt off. Just shows how easily she is lying on the witness stand and puts up an act. All the hanging her head and pretending to be an abused woman. Gimme a break. She is conniving and manipulative.

In addition to the lack of hemorrhage in the brain... my other thought is if her intention was to kill him as quickly and "cleanly" as possible.. why would she change from shooting to stabbing? Just 1 gunshot? Unless the gun jammed, IMO, a single gunshot wound to the head would be, not to sound crass, but what happens in like zombie movies for assurance, at the end of a quarrel.
If he was getting up or fighting too much after being shot in the head *first*, why didn't she shoot him in the head again or shoot him in the heart? Or shoot him anywhere else?
I personally believe he was shot last at this point.

MOO!

I'm leaning towards the head shot first and got out. Stranger things have happened in this world, and the defense will hang onto that. After the first shot the gun may of jammed, and Travis got out and Jodi had the knife. Jodi knows that Travis wouldn't hurt her, but stop her and call 911. Jodi couldn't let that happen.

The large amount of blood dripping down Travis's right shoulder in the dragging photo could be because he had already been shot above his right eye.

That would be inconsistent with the drag photo and the volume of blood at the end of the hall where imo his throat was slashed.

She would not need to be dragging him TO the spot she slit his throat, she did drag him BACK to the shower.

Just throwing something out there.

Diabolical Jodi is hell bent on murdering Travis and drives over 1000 miles to do it, had him in the must vulnerable position ever.....Please no posting pics but we know the one flat on his back with his eyes closed and most likely sleeping. Assuming that when she arrived she was not able to due to his being up, this was in my mind the perfect time.

Jodi did what casey did not do ....She talked and she talked ...took pics of victim ect...Casey might have lied and oh boy did she ..but and it is a big BUT ..she did not open her mouth about what she did ..remember
they have the right to remain silent;
anything the suspect does say can and will be used against them;
they have the right to have an attorney present before and during the questioning; and
they have the right, if they cannot afford the services of an attorney, to have one appointed, at public expense and without cost to them, to represent them before and during the questioning.

JODI ran her mouth and Casey did not in regards to the murder

Jodi is going to testify that she was the source of his ability to buy a home and a BMW.:floorlaugh:

Well now, Pensfan, wait just a minit -- we don't know -- and I'm sure she'll tell us -- what she may have done when she communicated with the mortgage and the automobile lenders.... She had lots of wiles & tricks...

In fact, she is
"Simply Irresistible"

How can it be permissible?
She compromise my principle, yeah, yeah
That kind of love is mythical
She's anything but typical
......

She's unavoidable, I'm backed against the wall
She gives me feelings like I never felt before
I'm breaking promises, she's breaking every law
She used to look good to me, but now I find her
Simply irresistible
.....

She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went
Simply irresistible she's all mine, there's no other way to go
She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went
Simply irresistible she's all mine, there's no other way to go

Simply irresistible

In a clinical sense, no. But many of our dear posters who have had to deal with this type of person over the course of many years recognize her for what she is. And while some of the evidence her attorney is entering may on the surface appear to support what she is saying many of us here feel it is just a version of the truth. Hopefully the State will have enough facts to disprove her. We have already caught a few whoppers during her testimony. If it walks like a snake....... jmo
