My question is (still reading) while reading the investigation report.......what kind of person would go into a house uninvited thru a doggie door??? :waitasec:

a person with no self respect or respect for anyone else...a person with no moral compass...a narcissistic person...a sneaky person with no conscience...

Sorry, that was a quote from Lambchop~

She had written "airline" on one of the checks so it was not a loan, Jodi owned that money to him. jmo
^ ^ ^

I saw that too !

I think it looked like "Idaho" or something like that. Reimbursement for a trip Travis paid for?

This trial schedule does not make me happy but I bet the jurors are not unhappy with it. They have days off to get their own personal affairs done. The businessman can go into the office every Friday for sure and clean up the matters no one else can do. The homemaker can get those chores done and shopping out of the way for the weekend. This long weekend would be like a mini vacation for them. I don't see them unhappy at all. They also had a chance to digest what Jodi has said and if Nurmi starts to backtrack you would probably hear some silent groans from them because they have already "gotten it" either way.

I can see Nurmi doing a "recap" of what he has covered so far. Jurors, liquid lunch.....anyone? jmo

well, i wouldn't like it if i was a juror. i like more linear trials with continuity. it's a DP case and to me, it should be a much tighter operation than this one's been. we've learned sequestered juries can be a problem----but i think this trial has gone way too far in the other direction. every day that jury is 'out there' is a day when there can be a problem causing a mistrial.

I think you'll find he paid for her trip with his credit card he has for company expenses. That could be why Chris was upset with him regarding the finances. I bet all those checks in January were to cover what he spent on her and he had been told to tell her to repay for her trips. She had written "airline" on one of the checks so it was not a loan, Jodi owned that money to him. jmo

Yep! She probably owed him even more money. I hope he didn't give her cash.

One detail here. PPL doesn't "employ" people. People pay them fees to be independent representatives. They sell the insurance and recruit people under them.

There would be no company credit cards. There would be no paycheck in the traditional scheme of things. They get a portion of the insurance they sell and money from the sales of the people they recruit.

A good independent representative would keep separate business accounts for tax purposes. They are responsible for paying their own taxes, FICA, etc. as with any other independent business owner.

I'm sure that, if Travis had financial difficulties, it was because he wasn't getting a regular salary and his income would fluctuate from month to month.

On the financial topic, it is also possible that Travis had champagne taste and a beer budget at times. IIRC, he had to borrow $6000 from a friend. I'm sure he was good about the payments and worked harder and harder to get more income. We do know that he wanted to be a motivational speaker. PPL couldn't be the only way to assure a steady income.

I don't believe Jodi ever lent Travis a penny. I also wonder if her constant demands on his time put him off his pace as well as causing him to have tremendous emotional conflict due to his religious beliefs. Not good for business.

I keep WS up on my computer. I stream from my phone with ear piece in. I am on the "guest" wifi so as to not really violate internet use policy. :innocent: at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I am gonna be phone streaming today. Between Docs appts and kid runs and other errands I will not be in one place much.

Unless I go right now and pull a muscle....hmmm.....:what:

I see what you're saying but going to the courthouse day in and day out for what seems like repeat testimony, or droning on about totally irrelevant stuff (like what kind of coffee drink she ordered), is something I'm quite sure the jurors would prefer not to do. Jury duty is a civil responsibility and while I may be happy to serve most people are not. They do it as their responsibility but many times it is with reluctance. To make these jurors sit through these ramblings is unfair to them, IMO.

I'll take that whole liquid lunch thing, I can't decide who I hate listening to more, JA or Nurmi! ;)

MOO :moo:

I feel the longer she stays on the stand the more likely she will screw up. She gives JM too much information. I think poor Nurmi is doing exactly what she wants him to do. Asking her the questions she wants him to ask her. I think she has been writing down questions in her notebook since the beginning of the trial. I also think that while the jury is bored every once in awhile they hear something that just does not seem right and are waiting for JM to catch her on it. Anticipation......she is only hurting herself by going on and on and on. The jury has heard the tape and TA does not come off as a violent person, only a person who seems to need his sleep which she is continuing to deny him by talking his ear off. As badly as he needs his sleep he continues to talk to her.

I think she bought things x 2 so that the sales person would not think she was travelling alone .. I think she was worried about standing out as a lone female traveller and was playing a role of a GF with BF in the car. I have done it myself when driving those kind of distances on my own .. you know, you go into a place and say something like 'what did he say he wanted again?' just so that you don't look like a lone female traveller .. anyway I think Jodi had a very different reason from mine for doing this. I think she was worried about being remembered, I think she really thought she would get away with travelling to Arizona first without anybody knowing she had been down there.
I pretend I'm not traveling alone when I am in vulnerable situations too, buying two coffees or such. I have traveled alone a lot, and was living on my at a young age- and I think it may have prevented some uncomfortable situations.

I agree with this theory, right up until she paid with two transactions with the same credit card.

If I understood that correctly?

As a cashier, I'd consider it odd for someone to ring up two identical items in two transactions with the same payment method. It would make the person stand out to me.

Or did she pay with different payment types? Because then that makes some sense.

I have a meeting right when court starts today...it should only take an hour so JA better wait till I get back home before FINALLY testifying what happened that horrible day! Not that an ounce of her ridiculous blabbering will be the truth! Wait, scratch that...probably (or shall I say possibly) maybe just 2 ounces of her nonsense today will be the truth... except it will be TA's truth & not her's!

OT - U can't believe how much I got done during the last few days w/o court! I'm sure u all understand since I know I'm not the only one! I even cleaned out my 3 year old's closet & bedroom by getting rid of all his abundance of "baby toys" & organized everything in both his toy boxes, closet shelves, dresser drawers, & book & toy shelves! When my hubby came home from work last night he said "wow, no trial today huh?!"

Such odd check amounts and only one with scribbles in the memo hard to read. She probably paid him for T-Shirts and Underwear she had made through his company

Good morning all! Forgive me if someone had already brought this up. Regarding JA's purchases of two of this and that. I wonder if she just has the compulsion to always buy two of everything whenever she shops. Some people have some unusual shopping habits. JMO. I am soooooo ready for Juan's cross. Enough of the testilying already!!!!!!!

You could be right. Two gas cans, two kerosene cans, two boyfriends at the same time (always had one in the wings). Yep, I think you are right. jmo

Good Morning all

Are we there yet? are we there yet? These long weekends are killing me! It's a catch 22 though, can't wait for it to start again... but I know we will have to listen to Nurmi and Jodi go on and on.... I can hear Nurmi already "Well, *long pause*, Jodi, *long pause*, lets go back... " blahhhhhhhh!

I can see Nurmi dragging this on until Thursday, if not longer. He does not want the jury to go home for the weekend with Juan having the last word. We are in for a long week I think.

I think she filled her gas tank and then filled up the gas cans with two separate transactions. She could have continued but it's possible the other transaction was for kerosene because she had bought two cans at Walmart. Not sure it they sell kerosene at a gas station? jmo

Is there any timeline of her specific comings and goings after the murder and before her arrest?

IIRC

--went to meet Ryan
--returned the rental car
--showed up at Travis' memorial

I am not sure what other activity can be confirmed.

Thanks Softail for the link....I find it odd that the checks that are shown the back of, do not show Travis's signature on them....maybe I am behind the times or something...I don't know...but I always thought you sign the check when cashing or depositing it....another thing I find odd on the checks shown is the stamp on the back says "CA"....is this where the bank originated? or what? Could it be possible that she had an acct with both her and TA on it? in California? I don't know what I am even thinking.....

I agree wholeheartedly which is why I think JM is not stopping this from continuing. I'm sure there were quite a few objectionable things being said but were JM to object every 5 seconds the jury may start to blame him for the length of this testimony. There is no mistake to be made, JM is not the one dragging this out to the point of painful. Aannnndddd (in Nurmi fashion) there is a LOT to be gained from listening to someone who loves to talk about themselves...I can't wait to see cross.
