I keep seeing the smile/smirk on JA's face during this Magazine testimony and Wham it hit me...
Could JA be expecting to claim that her 'former' cell mate Kimberly Ross (on DT witness list) is the one who was the writer in the mags?
I just can't understand Why a DT would call a cell mate anyway, it's just too easy to discredit them IMO :waitasec:

Does anyone remember the dates on the mags?
iirc the Star (JA pointed out) was delivered in Feb 2012?
if not will try to screen shot them from video TIA ;)

I don't understand who ever wrote those notes thought that they were going to actually fool the guards. They're use to looking in every nook and cranny for notes, cell phones, drugs. They even have to decode some of the notes they find. If Jodi wrote those and really thought this was going to fool the guards, well I guess she found out they are smarter than she thinks.

That's what I wondered, they did look puzzled, they went through each page of it. My thought is they knew about them but really never looked at them, maybe didn't realize what was in them until yesterday. I would have looked and acted casual about it because I think they drew more attention to them by taking so long to look them over...

Yes, to me it looked like they were quickly scanning the photos, up and down, and they certainly didn't go to the few specific identified pages. I would think if they were aware of the codes written on the certain pages, they would have just turned to those pages to verify the wording was as they already knew was in evidence.

And I don't understand how they were allowed in, they are cropped to the area only, not showing the man so you can authenticate who the body part really belonged to. How did they know other than her word which is not good...???

She verified with her testimony. You don't think she'd lie about that, do you? Of course with her memory problems it could have been anyone since she seemed to like to take pictures of "body parts", more so than landscapes. Don't know how she keeps that all straight in her head. jmo

The State vs Jodi Arias ~ Travis Alexander murder trial
UNCONFIRMED

Picture Perfect director has just revealed on HLN that Matt McCartney forged the paedophile letters for Arias. Awaiting confirmation.

https://www.facebook.com/Justice4Travis

Wow. Although it's not confirmed, I tend to believe the information from this author - everything she has said so far has panned out. She was talking about the magazines yesterday and said that they were related to the forged pedophile letters and that the coded messages were meant for Matt. I believe that is the case, just from Juan's questions yesterday. I believe (and hope) this will all be tied together next week.

Maybe they didn't know, or maybe they knew but thought the State hadn't figured it out. I was just looking at some old discussions, and came across court minutes dealing with an "attempted interrogation" of Matt McCartney:

http://www.courtminutes.maricopa.gov/docs/Criminal/052011/m4737447.pdf

http://www.courtminutes.maricopa.gov/docs/Criminal/052011/m4744268.pdf

Looks like the State wanted to "interrogate" Matt but was unable to for whatever reason. And the defense was asking for whatever the State had in relation to its attempted interrogation of Matt.

Wow, that's really interesting. Thanks, minor.

It's too bad these pictures from Travis (allegedly) weren't taken with an I-Phone (were they?).

I just saw a snippet of an investigation on ID- that crazy housewife who pretended to be kidnapped in Florida for ransom, her name escapes me... Brin or something. Anyway the supposed kidnapper sent an I-Phone image of her (looking quite battered) in order to establish proof of life. Turns out that, (and maybe its just the very new I-Phones) embedded in the image are the GPS coordinates from where the image was taken! Did anyone else here know that these phones had that technology? I sure didn't. They were able to track exactly where she and the pretend kidnapper (lover) were.

Too bad the photos don't have the GPS embedded in them, that could clear this up rather quickly- Mesa OR Monterey/Palm Desert!

hey did anyone notice that weird sucking motion JA does with her lips when JM forces her to admit the date on her journal entry?

Yes! She also made a goofy lip thing whenever she was being a defiant brat to JM and saying "no" to questions where she was obviously lying. Almost like a whistling face, where her lips stay pursed in a smirk, it is really irritating. She is really irritating.

(re towing the BMW) I wrote quite a bit about this some while ago. In essence, to get the key out, the car would have been in neutral. Towing in neutral is death to the transmission in a rear-wheel-drive car, eventually. No lubricant is pumped to the drive shaft. :)

This is an insignificant point to make... But I have owned 5 standard transmission cars, and have one now. I park each and every one of them in first gear, it was how I was taught. I even own an automatic transmission that can be turned off and remove the key (it's actually a Fob, not a key), although on this vehicle, a alarm will beep unless you put it into neutral (park). But as far as standard 5 speed transmissions, there is zero reason that the key cannot be removed while the gears are engaged.
Sorry to disagree :seeya:

Somebody posted this article upthread; http://abcnews.go.com/US/jodi-arias-believes-punished-death-row-friends/story?id=18547130

This is my favorite part;

...""She said to me, 'I wish I didn't have to have lied. That destroyed me,'" Donovan said earlier this week. "Because now when it's so important for her to be believed, she has that doubt. But as she told me on the phone yesterday, she goes, 'I have nothing to lose.' So all she can do is go out there and tell the truth."...

And here's ANOTHER friend Jodi has completely brainwashed and snowed. She sure knows how to use her people to do her bidding. Isn't Donovan, after all, the friend of Ann Campbell, whom Jodi used for her coded magazine scam?

I guess knowing Jodi will pay-off soon enough, though -- once the BIG interview offers start rolling in. Hanging in there gives them plenty of juice to tell once they the State "spins her around" to death row.

Awesome, maybe Matt needs to spend a little time in the slammer.

Interesting that the court minutes reference "attempted interrogation" - not "deposition" or "interview." This leads me to believe that he was being questioned about suspected criminal activity -- and perhaps he plead the 5th or requested an attorney, and the interrogation came to a halt.

Fascinating. I was just wondering about this possibility, after reading minute entries dated 8/10/11, in which Jodi's old lawyer mentions "possible issues" regarding Matt M., and 8/15/11, in which Jodi's lawyers suddenly withdraw their attempt to get the pedophilia letters into evidence. Which, as a lawyer, you would have to do if you had learned they were forged.

oooh good call. I have a feeling the 3rd person in the room will not only attest to her hair being blonde, but to the fact she had sex with the ex.~snorts~

JA is soooooo toast!:great:

I sooooo am hoping that is completely true!!!

But wouldn't that be why restaurants would be busy in August? Who on earth would want to cook at home in that heat? :what:

Sometimes it's just too hot to eat, so we drink. :blushing:

You've got me laughing with tears streaming now. But, FYI, it's not so impressive on a 13" MacBook Air. :floorlaugh:

Well I guess I haven't seen the really big ones because it looked pretty big to me. It looked to me like it wasn't to it's full capacity yet.

If this is indeed true and the letters were forged by McCartney, with what could have he been charged ? Aiding and abetting ?

What I'd love to know is if the jail informed either the prosecution or the defense about the messages. How could the magazines leave jailhouse possession and end up as evidence without the defense knowing why they were confiscated?

Typically, (unsure of AZ jails tho) the Jail authorities will hand over anything like this to the State Attorney's office, they are trained on contraband and Anything that pertains to it including what's written in letters or codes..

IMO everything JA was doing was being watched regardless since is a DP case.. all calls monitored as well but what I am curious about is Why Matt is even on Any witness list when he claims will lie for JA??
That to me is 'willingly' putting a liar up on the stand bc if Matt did tell the State Attorney/JM or whomever that he will lie then it's in Discovery for DT..
I assume JM doesn't care, let the DT hang themselves no?

Now the pieces fall into place. I get it. How does he get those letters in? Is that going to be a problem or have they already dealt with this?

JA made many serious mistakes yesterday, but two are really sticking out:

1. She said that she could freely and absolutely just walk away from Travis at any time.

She didn't even qualify it with , "Well, I didn't feel that way later," or something to that effect. Travis didn't have power or control over her. And the way she said it, calmly and confidently... I think she slipped up there because she was so intent on sparring with JM. I thought the THs would pounce all over that...

2. (I don't condone perjury, but, c'mon, this is JA - she doesn't have such standards) She never should have been so definite and specific about having only one journal at a time.

Had she said she sometimes kept other journals and would write in them concurrently - the journal entries in evidence (and what she left out) wouldn't have been nearly as damning, which she made worse by being adamant there were no other journals.

Even though she wouldn't be able to produce a "lost" second journal, she could have at least planted the seed of doubt rather than eliminate it altogether as she did.

--

I'm happy she made these mistakes - especially the first one. I think (hope) that will be stated in JM's CS - maybe a few times to really hit the point home.

Okay now that we have the testimony in and on record, I will say the only thing that I thought would make herself that seem real. I really really really thought the defense was going for 2, and I can't believe they did not. If they had said that when he was in the shower she had uploaded all the sex photos and other types of files that are audio with the sex talk, up to his facebook after hacking or something like that, I can see how he would lunge at her and want to f ing kill her.

Well, JM couldn't just TELL the jury that JA had been in jail, because it's totally irrelevant. But it's not like they have to HIDE that fact if it happens to come out unavoidably in the course of relevant testimony.

Why in the world would that be an issue? The jury knows Jodi has been charged with a crime--don't they know that people who don't make bail or those who aren't offered bail wait in jail until trial? It doesn't mean she's convicted of anything, she's waiting for her trial and sentence. Is it different in AZ? (I'm in TX)

Why on earth would MM forge letters for JA? Good grief! I can understand helping an exlover, friend, present lover, but for me that would mean helping them move or giving them a lift. Forging documents in a murder trial...not so much. That old saying about friends helping to bury /hide the body is just that...an old saying.
