Just jumping off here, Andrea Yates and Jodi are polar opposites. Andrea Yates has a clear mental health history and a big history of falling through the cracks of the mental health system and a husband who did not get how mentally ill she was. Post-partum psychosis is sadly real, though very rare. She is truly very seriously mentally ill and with medications she is somewhat able to be a functioning person. As someone recovered from PPD I get very touchy when people don't get it about her case and how she is different from, say Susan Smith.

Jodi has stuff that meds can't begin to touch. She is not insane...which is the scariest type. She KNOWS what right and wrong are and she ENJOYED doing the wrong and does not think what she did was wrong and has zero remorse. She is definitely, as quoted, diabolical and damn scary. I'll sit in a room any day with Andrea Yates. I get her. I don't get the evil that exists in Jodi...who could slit your throat and then go fix herself a cup of tea calmly as if nothing happened.

couldn't agree more.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't even begin to compare a mother who personally drowned several of her own children to an adult killing a relationship (of whatever nature) partner -- especially based on how they "look"! Those two crimes aren't even in the same chapter of the book, imo.

I'm the one who originally said it, so please blame me for it. I said that she LOOKED like Andrea Yates to me...and she does. That was all. I wasn't comparing anything else.

Oh oh oh! Just caught the very end of the day Thurs. on Ryan Smith (hunk) on HLN so I could see JA's face as Juan was starting to zero in on Salinas and the "nail salon" etc. You can definitely see her entire affect change, she stalls, she doesn't want to commit to times, to whether or not she returned to Darryl's. She knows he's on to something but doesn't know what. I can't wait for Monday!!!

I don't think I've seen this bit. Does anyone have a recommendation to seeing it? I thought I saw all of Thursday's cross but I don't remember this.

Jodi got on his phone and went through all of his recent calls. Maybe Jodi called some of the numbers to see if women answered.

"I'll make it up to you soon" must =payment with sex.

During direct, she told the story about leaving numerous messages after she killed him trying to sound cheerful before getting one right, and then she left that stupid message about being lost and asking him to a play.

Was that to cover the 16 minute call to TA?

Thank you so much for making that distinction. Andrea Yates is extremely sick, but she's not a psychopath.

She can't stand not being in control of things. On the stand she has no control about what question is coming next, what he will confront her about and with what clear evidence.

This is a break from her first 15 years with men where she controls how it will go, down to reading all their e-mail which is a sign of stalking, but also a sign of someone that HAS to know everything at every minute about what people are doing. She has to be ready. That's the evil thread that runs through her that allowed her to whip out a knife catching Travis so totally unprepared.

I am wondering if maybe, just maybe, he goes right to the murder, first thing on Monday morning. That would be awesome.

Hopefully whatever he starts with it catches her totally off guard and rattles her......bringing out her true nature once again.

:)

It's the very very last bit of the day. I was in there and didn't catch this as I just did from Ryan Smith's show.

I'm sure there's a youtube, would love for you to see it. I rewound and watched it again. It's the first time I've actually witnessed her in the midst of getting caught and trying to cat and mouse it. Usually she's way more seamless with her lying.

as the defense att for a client like this that testifies do you have to go with whatever story they give you or at times can you say your story is ridiculous :banghead:

If I have no proof that they are full of it I have to go with what they tell me. I do confront them on inconsistencies. I do refuse and must refuse to offer evidence or testimony that I know to be false. If I know someone is a liar I have a few options: withdraw because there is a fundamental disagreement regarding what evidence can be admitted or notify the court and prosecution that my client will be testifying in a narrative form because I can not illicit certain statements. The judges and prosecutor all know what that means and we all do our jobs and its obvious to everyone, including the jury, that something isn't right. But if I can't prove my client is full of it I have to vigorously defend them and leave it to the jury to decide who is being truthful. But I have had clients like JA and their problem is a total lack of self awareness and total inability to see that they are the perpetrator and not the victim. I tell them not to say certain things and they can't help themselves and slip in how they are a big victim and get all butt hurt when the judge calls them remorseless and self-centered. :banghead:

Oh my...this is JUST the way I see it! I dreamed this one night and haven't been able to shake it since.

WHAT IS UP with her and her TWO's???

Everything in twos! Two intruders, two gas cans, two suntan lotions, two hamburgers, two magazines and now two threats?

UNLEASH THE SHRINKS!!!
In dream analysis, the number two represents duality or something that occurs in doubles such as a married couple.

Since Jodi experimented with numerous religions before realizing that Mormon men worked hard (ka-ching for a parasite like Jodi), I looked up what the number two means on a Tarot card. The number two = KARMA. LOL

I know others will disagree but I think Dr. Keith Ablow ought to weigh in on what he thinks is going on with Jodi Arias. Anone know if he's talked about her or the case yet?

I don't understand why Jodi's attorneys don't tell her to jump back and stop being so aggressive with the prosecutor. She is not winning any battles by doing this. She is coming off as if she thinks she is smarter than the prosecutor and she is hanging herself. This is okay with me, but I can't stand to watch her do it. Her demeanor is so harsh and smart alec. If anyone every had any sympathy for her it should be totally gone with her attitude.

Since JM has started his cross my stomach is in knots and I have so much anxiety watching it. Shades of CA and I could not relive that debaucale. I say to JM let's move it on and get rid of this poor specimen of a woman. This whole case is unbeliveable to me. Why has it taken 5 years to bring her to trial? jmo

No blame whatsoever! My response wasn't intended to be personal commentary on the poster or you. Just my reaction. I don't see the point of comparing degrees of evil based on looks, ever. And it would take a crime far worse than this one to allow a comparison, in my mind at least, to someone who can personally take the lives of their own children -- mental illness or not v. someone who takes the life of their partner in a twisted romantic relationship. jmo

eta: I realize you said you weren't comparing the two. But bringing up a similarity in looks between two killers kind of assumes that the looks are somehow related to the crime. Also jmo. I'm seriously not wanting to argue about it. Just explaining what prompted my post :)

I like Dr. Ablow. Would rather watch him any day than Dr. Drew. I haven't heard anything that Ablow has said about her.

I anticipate she will make herself sick soon. I think we won't get through the next few days with her actually showing up daily. I hate those announcements. She looked a tad startled Thursday when it was done, I can picture her pulling a drama scene and having something that prevents her from standing upright. (they could tape her to a Popsicle stick and prop her up in that chair to talk)

Good point ANJ! Entirely unaffected cursive, not even hindered by popsicle sticks and a painfully abused finger!! :boohoo: :hand:

I thought the writing in the video was much messier cursive :44 especially. Nothing like the writing we saw Thursday.

So you think it looks fine? :banghead: Dang eyes of mine!

That's interesting! I was researching the number 3 the other day, and it is usually associated with liars/criminals. * Subliminally* they think two would be too obvious, so they add 1 to make it more (supposedly) plausible....Jodi must not have read the same article I did :floorlaugh:
