VELEZ-MITCHELL: Shanna Hogan, you`re writing a book, “Picture Perfect,” on this case. What do you make of these secret messages written — you can see it right there. Tell us.
SHANNA HOGAN, AUTHOR (via phone): Yes. That was one of the most shocking moments in court. We`ve known about this for a while. She communicated with her boyfriend, Matthew McCartney, through jail and he was involved in creating these letters that were later proven to be forgeries. And that was the only substantial evidence that was given to produce her — to back up her statement.
So when he gave his first interview to the attorneys, he gave a very different story. And Jodi needed him back into the jail to talk about her version of events so he could come back and support her claim. So it was – - it was basically her soliciting false testimony from behind bars.
VELEZ-MITCHELL: Wow! And by the way, Matt McCartney, and I don`t know whether he was involved in any kind of forgery. He`s always invited on our show. We`d love to have him on to give his side of the story and weigh in.

Have no other women ever gotten the DP and been put to death in AZ???

Yes, it makes sense that the pics would snap at set intervals. I have thought of the ceiling pic snapping if the camera was dropped, but I can't imagine how the dragging pic was snapped unless the camera was set on timer. I mean, wouldn't she have needed both hands to drag a body? And the camera seemed to be on the floor when that pic was snapped. Maybe the timer was activated when the camera was dropped--and then when a photo is taken manually it automatically disengages the timer? Like I said, I have no clue how that camera's timer functions. But it sure is weird that there is a pic of the dragging. (So hard to type some of these things but I am really baffled by the dragging being photographed--the why if it was intentional, and the how if it was not.)

ETA: Well, since her foot is so close in that pic, maybe she bumped the camera with her foot and the photo was snapped unintentionally. A strange and somewhat miraculous occurence if so, but certainly possible. IMO.

Sorry if this has been suggested but I'm just catching up. Is it possible that she had the camera around her neck with a strap? Was it that type of camera? Or around her wrist? Maybe it never dropped at all but was hanging from her somehow?

I feel bad for his family right now, and have made no decisions of hers yet. If they believe her, then I don't feel bad and tend to think she is mentally ill because that runs in the family so they don't think there is anything wrong with her.

If they are simply supporting her as their daughter, their sister, fine, but stop the giggling. It's inappropriate beyond words

I would like to keep living in fantasy land and thinking they are horrified at what she did and wish they could speak to Travis' sisters and brothers but they just can't right now. They can't do that during their daughters trial.

If she were my sister, I would be sitting on the other side hoping she is not getting out because she would scare the daylights out of me. I'd visit her behind glass telling her "OMG i wish you could come home!" doing that hold my hand to the glass to touch her (crossing my fingers with my other hand saying Jesus please don't let her out, i''m skeered...)

I have thought her mom's reactions in court were inappropriate and even yelled at my dh the other day "WTH is she laughing about? If one of our kids were on trial for murder and the penalty was death would you find anything funny???" He was like "uh no" kinda giving me the side eye ( when he sees me reading here he says "what's happening with crazy?" but I digress)

The next day I thought about other grave situations, like times where numerous family members have crowded in waiting rooms while one of our loved ones was nearing the end, and I thought that some times in those long hours people DID find something funny or conversations would crop up to just get your mind somewhere else if only for a little bit, then I wondered if I haven't been judging her too harshly.

I still don't think I'd be laughing any, but I pray I NEVER find out.

Yep. It's funny in the last ten minutes of her cross JM starts on her journey to Mesa. Says to her something like, "isn't it true that when you made your trip down from Yreka to kill Mr. Alexander, you stopped in the Monterrey area, didn't you?"

She gets a bit flustered and says "I can't answer that question the way it's phrased"

Good one, TexMex -- I noticed it -- I so wanted her to just start ripping along with more of her lies, but she caught it....

She's so much smarter than Mr. Martinez, isn't she?!

Yep, she's got it all over him. She'll show him who's the smartest one in the room. Grrrrrrr.

She is having such a good time up there. I wonder when she'll realize that she has scrood herself with her yip-yapping and trying to hide her smiles and smirks up there in front of the courtroom and a bunch of folks in TV-land. Where will the smirk be then?

No, Travis never even got to put the strap on his new camera. It was still brand new and in the case

Hi everyone! I am newly registered but have been lurking in regards to this case. This case is what has brought me to WebSleuths. Years ago, I saw the 48 Hours on Jodi Arias. I immediately felt for Travis Alexander and his family. As I've been watching this case (I watch all of it on Youtube), I feel more and more empathy for Travis Alexander and his family. It has been absolutely disgusting to see Jodi Arias drag his name through the mud on what are obviously false charges. I absolutely love Juan Martinez and have been on the edge of my seat watching him question Jodi Arias. I LOVED how he basically tore apart her pedophilia allegations and can't wait to see where he's going with his questioning. I think it's safe to say I have a bit of a crush on him, though would never stalk and peep in his windows or throw a Toblerone at him. I have just been so proud of the way he has has represented Travis!

GREAT first post. Love your avatar name as well. :welcome: to WS. :fireworks:

Juan was brilliant in his 'seemingly' jumping around cross day one. (I don't see it that way, but the talking heads do - maybe they will learn from him they critique so readily?!?!) He put the journals up and the magazines to confirm the handwriting on the code messages were hers.

Now, I was looking for something and came across this - boy that looks like her handwriting was suffering from the injury she sustained to me. What do you guys think? Not as neat at all to me. (but I am having eye issues, so be nice if I am crazy!)

My 20 yr old DD just called and wanted me to help her fill out some paperwork on MONDAY..

I said " sure, bring it over Sunday afternoon and I'll be glad to help you."

" But mooooom, that's my free day. "

I said, ' great, that's MY free day too. Sunday it is then. :giggle: '

I am praying that no one stops in for an unexpected visit,my SIL sometimes does, that's bad,I know!

Hmmm... Have been watching the trial very closely....and would never have mentioned Eddie lee if Juan hadn't mentioned him (ever so briefly)....just looking under every unturned stone - I guess...
It just seems that Jodi kept many men in her court to turn to when the situation required....
And wondering how complicit they may be in certain situations ?

Honestly, I would have a hard time urging my child to fess up and accept the consequences if death penalty were an option.

Hmmmmmmm.....shades of Jackie Peterson? "Deny! Deny! Deny!"

Just kidding.

She can be coached til the cows come home but she still has her personality disorder to deal with and which will be guiding her behavior.

It won't let her continue to pull off the victimhood posture with who she sees as a worthy opponent. She will stand up to JM just as she pushed back with Travis. (Travis' friend Aaron actually told us that the other night, that he witnessed this behavior).

Sure they likely will coach her to be more meek and wimpy but Jodi will consider this the Jodi show and do it the Jodi way. I mean she knows better than anyone including her own attorneys don'tcha know?

have you read minor4th transcription of her version of the murder? it is comical!

I agree there is no shutting up Ms Arias.

I cannot recall for the life of me where she said this (last day of testimony?) but that her story would fit the forensics? Omgosh it does everything BUT fit the forensic evidence!

Andrew Cook was recently executed in GA, he shot 2 college students in their car. He was advised to turn himself in after admitting what he had done to his father, who was an FBI agent. His family supported him through the trial & his imprisonment, can you imagine how difficult that would be?

I'm confused as to why the guy would forge letters for her in the first place? I find it very strange. Almost like she has something on him?

moo

Maybe she promised him a favor of some kind.

You know what would be a great Perry Mason moment? If JM asked her to splint her l ring finger with popcicle sticks and ask her to write and see her perfect her penmanship is. ;)

  • #318
And why were they exchanging cars? What car was Jodi driving, and what car was she exchanging it for?

  • #319
Shouldn't her DT have taken her through all her stories and shown her where they didn't match the evidence .. eg phone calls on day of pedophilia discovery not matching what she said during direct .. do you guys think she was ad libbing on the stand during direct because I do now .. otherwise she would have already matched the phone records to her story and made them fit. I'm thinking she made it all up as she went along in regards to extra details ..

Just saw JA's nude pics...ugh. Is it just me or does her lady bits look like Zoidberg?

http://www.fanpop.com/clubs/futurama/images/3305418/title/zoidberg-wallpaper

I really don't think those pictures of Jodi were taken by Travis. If someone was having fun and taking nude sexy pics, they would have that cute, sexy smile, kind of sexy look. That pic of her laying naked looks like she just laid down and had the timer snap the photo. I think she snapped that picture while he was in the shower and it was a complete set up.
