I think he's won all his death penalty cases & been voted 'Prosecutor of the Year' twice.

Juan Martinez Maricopa County Prosecutor is considered one of Arizona’s top Death-Penalty Prosecutors. According to the Phoenix New Times, Martinez is despised by many Defense attorneys, “because he relentlessly plays hardball on the job.” A graduate of at Arizona State University, Martinez was licensed to practice Law in 1984 and joined the Maricopa County Attorney's Office in 1988. Martinez, according to the Times, rarely enters into plea bargains and is known to be meticulous in preparation and presentation.

I seem to remember her saying that she used a stool as well??? Maybe she was referring to another time? I will have to go back and listen now!

She said she used the stool on a prior cleaning spree and that's when she first found the gun......

Legal question about sharing what you have in evidence. Would there be a time when a Prosecutor could have a crime scene photo of a perfectly neat closet if the defendant said a struggle took place in a closet, they rolled around, etc etc.. clearly disturbing things.

And then he brings the photo out at trial.

I am feeling frustrated that Defendants take ALL the evidence and tailor their story to it. You should not need ANY evidence just tell me what happened and tell the truth and we're good...

Travis sure had a nice closet.

I am going to have another Jodi-free weekend. Hope everyone has a nice one.
Look forward to catching up on Monday.

Hey Shelby. Juan made a point of locking JA into the facts of her story. During his rebuttal will be when he points out all the facts that prove her a liar and prove the facts to be otherwise. jmo

Good point.

I'm an impatient person lol.

Sure Jodi would be "relieved" to get away with murdering Travis and have no one suspecting she was his killer for the rest of her life.

It was Jodi's goal to avoid detection or connection to the crime. She says goal. Calling the detective, leaving the messages to Travis after he was dead, going to see Ryan is all part of her goal. That must include killing Travis as part of her goal which means it was premeditated, IMO.

It might have been her conscious goal, but on some level she made herself an obvious suspect even when she already was one. She's provoked the state more than she's subdued them.

I think her exhibitionism and obsession and need to be seen as connected to Travis extends to the crime. It's like she's been waving a subconscious flag around ever since saying 'It was ME .. I killed him because he's MINE.'

I couldn't believe when she admitted that it was her "goal that day". To me, that seals the deal on premeditation. Admitting that it was her goal implies that she was not, in fact, in a fog and that she remembers exactly what she did including the steps to try to cover her tracks.

My mom just had a really good point--I haven't seen it discussed here before, forgive me if it has, but you know when Jodi was talking about "the laws of attraction" and how she would never write anything negative in her journal about Travis? I wonder if they looked through the journal to see if she wrote negative things about anyone else! That would prove her a liar (again) if there was.

I thought it odd when she talked about Travis and Mimi's 2 or 3rd date. She had to be seething about it.. yet she wasn't really negative about it. I hope Nurmi doesnt try to bring it up on redirect. If he does.. we will know he's been reading here!

Why won't JA just admit that she cut her finger on June 4 during the murder? I mean, she's already said she was there...she's already said she was the one that stabbed him...she's already admitted that she's lied about a lot of things, so why not admit that she lied about that too? Is it b/c she needed to use that finger to substantiate the lie about Travis abusing her?

Hi Imkag,

ya know that's the one thing that I just can not make sense of. How do you slaughter someone the way she did--Gun, 29 stab wounds , and a slit throat, and walk away with 2 small band-aids on minimal cuts. You would think she would at least have some real mean bruising from having to inflict this kind of carnage, and then drag an 180 lb. man into a shower.

No i think you are right and I believe she gave two stories by accident.

First version she said she stepped up on that stool/bench.

when pressed on the stand yesterday because he would not stop (great tactic) that was the first time i heard her say, with 1 foot she stepped on a shelf and with her free hand she grabbed the gun. Insinuating the other hand may have grabbed an upper shelf

MM is a curiosity to me. Seems she's emotionally blackmailing him in some way. DB seems like a good hearted person who's lucky to have survived the clutches of this demon. He didn't seem to push her same buttons as the other ones though.

Do you believe that JM has some information on MM that he will bring to light during the rebuttal? I wonder if the defense will even call MM. He was an ardent supporter of Jodi on her website back in January. Now he has disappeared.

I am so far behind in these threads, so I hope this isn't something that's already been discussed.

If I heard correctly in yesterday's testimony, she dragged him TWICE!! The picture with her foot shows her dragging him towards the bedroom (to the spot where all the blood was on the carpet). Juan asked her about the orientation of the picture and he pointed to Travis's foot and asked if that was in the direction of the bathroom and she answered yes. That means that she dragged him both ways down that hallway.

MOO

Arias also claimed that she was unaware of the Hoover Dam checkpoint. I call BS on that as well, as the police at the checkpoint most certainly have noticed an upside down California license plate with no front plate. Most likely, she flipped the back plate, put the front plate back on, and after the checkpoint, turned the back plate upside down again. JM should have called her out on the front license plate screws ...

Anyone know if the front license plate was on the rental when she was stopped in Utah ?

The ME believes the blood at the sink came from him coughing up blood when she first stabbed him in the heart. The back stabs may have happened when he was trying to hold on to the sink.

If the casing got kicked around it would have blood on it instead of being clean as a whistle except on the side that landed in the blood pool.

ita

in the autopsy report he had a hemothorax (blood in the lungs)

Just wondering, where is the bath mat that was supposed to be in front of the shower? Didn't Jodi say it was there when she was taking pics? Granted I am getting confused between Jodi's many lies and all the info.

I am also intrigued by Travis having hairless legs in the bed pic but is miraculously sporting hair on his legs in the shower pics.

Well, good bye In Session. I'll miss you :(

Sorry, am thousands of pages behind at all times, what is happening to In Session?

TIA

She's not genuinely crying either. I thought she was when I first saw it, but I don't now. She's angry. She hates being corned in public. He came too close to the bone and she is freaking, but it's not sadness, it's not grief, and it's not shame.

She's just jacked off because Juan ruined her defence strategy and she knows it.

Yep!

IMO He needs to keep it simple for any possible stupid folks sitting on that jury.

Jodi alleges she played ring around the rosy closet, after a round of WWE body slamming and rolling...NBA queen leaping defying the laws of gravity and physics to reach an imaginary gun, all the while some ridiculous dialog is going on..shoots him after a warning to stop... Slices his throat and is dragging him a mere 44 seconds later.

I left out her hard blinking memory.

I think it's entirely possible. DB may not have even known at the time what was going on. Say she did give him the "stolen" DVD player. I could totally see her telling him "If you tell them I gave it to you, I'll tell them you helped me! You'll lose your son! You'll be in prison for being an accessory!" No wonder the guy was a nervous wreck and didn't want his face shown. JMO

Isn't the idea of him having the stolen DVD player just something a sleuther thought up? Why would he want a stolen DVD player? They just don't cost that much. If true, I would have called the Prosecutor the minute she threatened me.

Whoa. I missed this. Can you point me to a day and/or Youtube video so I can see it?

I was not looking at her at the moment, but HLN caught it right away. It was in the afternoon and Vinnie Politan commented. Several people have asked me about it, so anyone that is interested can tweet him and see if he can post the video or a clip w/time stamp info.

She could not be told what to do, could she, not even to save her life.
