I am rewatching NG and I just laughed my hiney off when they replayed today's testimony where JA says "Well...I don't want to ruin anyone's marriage. SHANNON CRABTREE PETERSON!" Nancy imitated her PERFECTLY! OMG that was hilarious!

I didn't provide it but have to say I read it while looking up Sheriff Joe today again. It was on Wiki iirc.

You have doubts that anyone can bring this woman food? REALLY? Can her mother bring her a ham sandwich? Would you think that that would be ok? Does anyone really think that anyone can "buy" JA a lunch and serve it up? She's in freekin' jail! So, she could just have someone serve her up a Starbucks sandwich laced with poison? No controls on what she's served? RIDICULOUS to even be discussing this CHITE.

I have the same feelings. Trying to keep the faith that justice will be served.

I have that same awful feeling. I am prepared for that ***** eating grin during the verdict...just like CA.

Are there any theories as to why the DT pulled Jodie off the stand this afternoon? [I mean other than the alleged headache, of course]

Yes, Martinez started firing questions at her, she started to fire back and then shoot out a line of sarcastic stuff...it got heated

all of a sudden afternoon break was called. They returned and her attorneys said she was so sick with a migraine she can't continue.. and it was due to not being allowed to eat until 6pm.. 4am and 6pm. Nothing in between and they said something like, at times when trial ran over, she even missed her evening dinner

So they called it a day...

She plays the game with him and probably does not know that she has this evil smirk on her face. The jury can see it. It's deliberate on her part so they will look at her. She likes to play the part of being a ditsy (blond) girl. It gets her attention. She has no clue that when she does this everyone can see what she is doing and I'm guessing this is why none of Travis' friends liked her. JM always, always makes his point in the end, like today about her lying to Det. Flores with no problem on her part. Flores was laid back and she had no problem with him scrambling her brain but still she lied.

I bet today every member of that jury thought at least once that it was a wonder that Travis didn't kill her. I can see even an easy going person losing their cool with her. jmo
Before I retired, the institution where I worked would only reimburse 10 days for an employee to serve on a jury. I continue to think about the jury members that NEED to go back to work to make their house payments, car payments, child support, and etc... These jurors must be furious with Jodi for wasting their time and money.

This will not be grounds for appeal, and it won't even be argued as such. When the issue was raised, the judge excused her, so there's nothing to complain about at this point.

I don't think they brought this up to give them an appeal point, I think they wanted to stop the bleeding for today.

We'll find out if Nurmi starts the day tomorrow by asking for a mistrial...I wouldn't fall over in shock if he did.

But the defendant, at least, was aware of this issue. If she failed to mention it to her attorneys--or if they failed to bring it to the attention of the court--I don't think it will get far with the appellate courts.

I think it might be time for me to call it a day, my eyes added an extra letter to a post and was not the best choice.

I added an i to the post below and thought Jodi was found to have been stealing pe*is's.

Random thought about JA today. She's reminding me of the aliens in the Ender's Game series. Ender and his team could never use the same attack twice because the aliens would learn and adapt to it.

She creeps me out.

*groan* I haven't heard that name since my first LTR took off....he loved that series. I would have liked the books better....had he not liked them first. Just as random reply for you lol.

(Snipped the video portion)

That version edits out the BEST part, though! The gist of it makes it clear that there can be consequences for that kind of behavior, but the lecture was PRICELESS!

It was something along the lines of asking how many grades he completed and if he can actually READ or was simply illiterate. He asked about the guy's ability to pay the fine, and just generally humiliated him. I'm sure his buddies (I think they dared him to do it, although he may have volunteered) thought it was hilarious, though and he, no doubt, still gets ribbed about it to this day.

I know, I didn't want to bog down the thread with a long video. But now I'm realizing that all we do is post videos of trial that last 4-6 hours.

It was one of the most bizarre and hilarious courtroom moments I've ever witnessed. I'm not sure it can be matched.
Belvin's delivery of the lecture was incredible. I can't watch that video and think of the guy's parents and how their hearts must swell with pride (or embarrassment).
When he fills out job applications does he have to include that he was charged with a misdemeanor? Does his "Crime" show up on a background check?
Did he go back to community college the following fall and write an essay "What I did this summer vacation-- Flipped the CA prosecutor the finger and got sent to jail Edition" by Matthew Whateverhislastnameis
Is he more conscientious of flipping people the bird these days or did he not learn his lesson?

I have so many more questions but I don't want to take this any further o/t :)

LUNCH ISSUE RESOLVED

"5:45 p.m. ET: Judge Stephens has recessed court for the evening. The jury has been sent home. Defense attorney Nurmi is telling the judge that Arias has not been given any lunches during the trial. He also said Arias is suffering from a migrane. Judge Stephens said the Sheriff's office has agreed to provide Arias lunch, and she will check on the issue."

LOL. This gives new meaning to JM's dig about "where you live, they don't allow pens, right?" :floorlaugh:

EXACTLY. And where you live your meals are carefully maintained according to the standards that are applied there, RIGHT?

moo

ETA - Why don't they give you pens or other instruments? Why don't they let your Grandmother bring you a BIRTHDAY CAKE? hahahaha. Cartoons even make fun of this notion.

A jail worker called in to drivetime radio tonight and said that the inmates are served a breakfast of bread, a plastic bag of peanut butter, 2 oranges, an apple and a small bottle of juice. Inmates on trial are served at 5 am and those who aren't are served b/w 6 and 7. He said they are served dinner at around 7 pm and that it's a soy "stew" with whatever is left over from the day before. He said that is the same every day. He also said that the food is absolutely disgusting. fwiw

A lot of hours between meals. The first one doesn't seem to be enough to last over twelve hours.

:behindbar

My comment is a generality, not specific to JA.

I was watching the trial on the way home from work (I wasn't driving-I take the bus). And when I got home mydaughter asked me what I was watching. I told her a trial-the girl killed her ex boyfriend in self defense. She asked how she did it & I told her what Travis' wounds were. Her exact response was well, she is going to be convicted of murderer!!

And my dd is only 14,but she gets it!!

I didn't claim missing lunch is torture, and, yeah, I think the "migraine" was strategy. But the original post to which I referred claimed it was offensive to even raise the issue of how inmates are treated during their trials.

I suggest you go back and read my response to yours about that.

So like in prison there is no bacon, eggs, hash browns, French toast? Bagels?

Just bread & a bag of peanut butter? Gruel for dinner?

Damn... Crappy mattress, poor thread count sheets, no downy fabric softener, crappy plastic shoes... No duvets, shams, dust ruffles...same clothes everyday...

I'd rather die

The judge said the sheriff's office is going to provide her with lunch. This is no longer an issue.

In our case there was no LWOP at that time in AZ so with parole in 25 yrs it was a nobrainer. Interestingly although we never really discussed it, we were a family who would probably be anti DP if we'd not landed in that "heinous" situation.

After two decades of appeals, I'm left with only one wish. That they get forgotten. Execution won't make anything better for any of us. Except we will stop getting bugged by their attorneys and representatives. Their DP attorneys have tortured us in various ways for years. In the name of "justice" for murderers. It's no picnic. I'm sure parole hearings are no picnic either. LWOP takes both off the table. So yeah, in hindsight I'd probably prefer that sentence.

With that being said, Jodi Arias along with Michael and Rudi Apelt ARE "the worst of the worst" so they do qualify for the "worst of the worst" sentence. And it is more suffering for them in certain ways. I'm sure the life on DR will be far worse for JA than in General Pop.

And with all that being said I am 100% behind Jodi Arias being sentenced to death for one simple reason: it's what this family wants.

I stand behind them in solidarity 100% . This is one place they have a tiny piece of control. I will champion for this sentence and be there with them for their Victim Impact Statements and support them in all ways with this.

Hope this helps...??

I LOVE YA Katiecoo ... you are just the best!! And I LOVE how you are standing is solidarity with the family of Travis Alexander. I become more .. and ... more ... and ... more impressed with you in each passing day. I am fairly new to the board (this trial .. I last was engaged in the Laci Peterson murder) ... Guess I'm a bit of a lurker for the most part, but do post now and again. I am so impressed with your intelligence and passion. You are LOVED on this board ... no question. Thanks again ... so much :heartbeat:.

Yeah, at least I found youtubes for today that I missed! The one after lunch that I missed is at Day23Part2

Thank you for posting this! I see that what I saw at about 3:54 was NOT a fist pump, but Jodi's mom's folded hands moving down onto her lap.
