I am over 50 and married a long time and not a prude either. When I was young and single I only had ONE boyfriend ask me if I wanted to try anal sex and I said NO. I find it very odd Jodi was having all this anal sex all the time.
The whole idea of it is repulsive to me. Do young people today actually LIKE this? Or do they think it's some hip thing to try because of all the they grew up watching?

If they had anal sex or they didn't have anal sex (obviously they did), what on this earth does that have to do with the fact that she murdered Travis????? I just don't get it.

I don't see Ms. Arias ever admitting the truth, plea or not and certainly not for LWOP. She feels completely justified with what she did to Travis - the choice of pleas was hers and hers alone.

I am not an expert so I really do not know what they can prove. I would imagine that a persons handwriting changes and it would be evident if it doesn't match to the time period. jmo

I'm a little confused. The DT spent an awful lot of time - in direct, and again today in redirect - on what seems to be an implication of rape without saying it outright... What confuses me, for starters:

- if they're implying rape, why aren't they making that clear?

- if they aren't implying rape, what are they implying - because they are definitley trying to imply something evil and wicked done to JA at the hands of Travis... :no:

- do they realize that JA testified - herself! - that she was a willing and enthusiastic participant in all of the sexual activity between them? I forget the exact quote, but she said something like 'Travis never did anything I didn't want/like, and always stopped if I wanted him to."
... it's in the trial transcripts, for pete's sake!

I really think the jury is going to see through this. We all do and I'm sure they aren't stupid. It makes no sense that she would want attention (which entails negative attention) from someone who abuses her. She goes TO him for the abuse? Good one.

Frankly whatever kind of sex her and Travis had has no bearing on this case. It was between 2 adults, who are free to do "whatever". He Never raped her, it was all consensual, therefore no PHYSICAL abuse. The mental abuse ? Well I actually think Travis would have had a better case having Jodie to deal with.

....and if oral sex was good enough for Bill Clinton to use as "not sex", then Mormons have every right to believe anything other then vaginal is not sex.

I'm wondering because we know she used the story of the kid pics as justification, and we know she got that wrong because supposedly they were on the computer, which was not true. So.... How are they going to explain that?

I'm 34 so Jodi and I are of same generation. Within my circle of friends I would say it's not the norm but not shocking either. It's mostly guys who are into it but I have one female friend who actually prefers it so do with that what you will.

I know, right? Her having anal sex with a number of guys only proves that she wasn't some innocent prude. She was experienced in the sexual realm.
How unfortunate that the prosecution has to even bring up the sex topic just to refute the claim that JA was a sex slave of sorts. The defense has no defense for the brutal murder of Travis so they turn to these most irrelevant of issues to discuss during this trial. Hope the jury is as disgusted as we are.

That would be me ... here's the original post and I'm surprised that JM did not go over the trip, leg by leg.

1. Redding CA to Lodi CA - 198 miles
2. Lodi CA to Monterey CA - 158 miles
3. Monterey CA to Salinas CA - 18 miles
4. Salinas CA to Pasadena CA - 304 miles
5. Pasadena CA to Mesa AZ - 387 miles
6. Mesa AZ to West Jordan UT via Hoover Dam & Las Vegas - 714 miles

For a grand total of 2541 miles .... when Arias returned the rental car, the mileage driven was 2843 miles ( a difference of almost 300 miles).

If I give her a fudge factor of 50 miles for driving around Monterey, Pasadena, and West Jordan UT, that still leaves about 250 miles unaccounted for.

The only logical place I have her using those extra miles would be the leg between Mesa and West Jordan after the killing ... but that's a lot of extra miles.

Is my math wrong ? Or maybe there was some truth to the story Arias told in the voicemail to Travis late on 6/4/08 that she had driven ~100 miles out of the way and was close to New Mexico ? That would mean she was nowhere near the Hoover Dam.

Thank you for re posting this for me.....if we add Yreaka in there at the end, and two trips from Salinas to Monterey (because remember she went to Salinas then back to DB's then back to Salinas to catch the freeway so she says) I come up with 2,660.....still some mileage to account for tho.....

This DT strategy is not working, IMO! Before the DT began their CIC, I would have been contented if JA received LWOP despite firmly believing that JA had well earned the DP. Now, nothing short of the DP seems appropriate or acceptable.

Why didn't the DT go with a strategy of throwing JA on the mercy of the court and jurors - admitting full responsibility (pre-meditation and all) - in the hope that a juror or two would have sympathy and believe that she was repentant?

I understand that JA/DT are gambling on convincing just one juror and striving for something/anything less than LWOP. But, all I think they're managing to do is secure the DP. JMVHO

ETA: Even no defense would have been better than this defense. IMO

I don't think they'll lie or anything. I just think, that especially when it's about human nature and psychology and stuff like that, different experts can interpret things differently to fit what they're claiming.

I'm pretty much in agreement with you. I think it is possible that some experts will lie, although I doubt if it is many. Mostly I think they would be concerned about their professional reputation, and when they testify, that is really on the line. I do think, however, that experts can be fooled by defendants, and that they can be kept in the dark about certain things. I suspect that the DV expert in the case probably really believes Jodi is a victim -- because Jodi has convinced her. I also suspect JM will have her squirming.

Not necessary as it never happened ... a broken finger should be splinted and the splint worn for about 3 weeks. Did anyone see Arias with a splint on her finger in Mesa in the weeks following 1/22/08 ? I bet not ...

I'm younger than JA and I don't have an answer to your question. However, JA was certainly experienced even before meeting Travis so I don't understand the defense's claim at all. I don't understand anything they say!
