ITA! I had to mute the video. Felt a lot of frustration yesterday, especially after I realized they were replaying that sex phone tape.

I keep telling myself that what Nurmi was doing yesterday was running scared. JM had put a huge hole in Nurmi's "strategy." So Nurmi, goes "Wait! This isn't the way I planned things! I have to go back to the beginning to make sure the jury sees things my way!" I have repeatedly tried to keep an open mind about Nurmi (can't about Jodi any more), but I'm coming to the conclusion that he's a really bad lawyer.

I think he's just got so little to work with and his main goal is to prove some shred of mitigating factor that can keep her off death row.

I think in the morning she had something on it, make-up or medicine that came off with lunch. I personally hope it is twice the size today.

Ok, I admit it! I do too! :giggle:

I just sent you a PM about this.
I am over 50 and married a long time and not a prude either. When I was young and single I only had ONE boyfriend ask me if I wanted to try anal sex and I said NO. I find it very odd Jodi was having all this anal sex all the time.
The whole idea of it is repulsive to me. Do young people today actually LIKE this? Or do they think it's some hip thing to try because of all the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 they grew up watching?

I read an article last year that said the practice of anal sex is on the rise. The theory is that men are becoming more interested in and more practiced at satisfying women, and that when a woman is really enjoying sex she may be willing to try more things.

She went back to Yreka before turning the car in because she said she had to work.
According to her, the pathological liar ...

  • #1,045
you seemed bothered that i said anything about anal sex you asked what does it have to do with anything.

This is what we all are asking Nurmi. What on this earth is he doing going on and on and on about it.

He needs to explain more about the murder. Butt, alas, he will drone on today more dribble and lies and arses.
sigh

What does it even matter when she hurt her finger? She admitted to killing him. So what if she hurt it during the altercation? I don't get it.
I am having this same prob.....but, another poster pointed out that Nurmi needs this broken finger prior to show TA ABUSED JA.....

I joined the trial with JM beginning his cross of Jodi, and I'm confused about her claim that Travis paid for her to return to Mesa. When was this and is there any proof it's true/false? Is there any proof he tried to stop or discourage her from moving back to CA in April 08?

I think she said he helped her pay for some moving expenses but I'm not positive on that

Aaahhh, okay. That makes sense.

She could still have said it happened that day by him grabbing her hand really hard or something. Whatever.

Because it is the only thing they have to say Travis was abusive. If he didn't break her finger then there was no physical abuse at all that can be proven.

He didn't break that finger. He didn't abuse her! PERIOD. IMO :gavel:

I hope that thing on her lip stopped growing. It seemed to grow so much yesterday afternoon, I'm almost afraid to see it today!

I actually hope it grows into a giant festering black pustule....serves her right...:waiting:

I think yesterday was all setting up for the DV witnesses. Since JA has already claimed these certain things...just having sex to please TA ect, the DT can now ask general questions of the experts relating to her answers.

Questions such as 'Is it usual for an abused woman to endure sex to try to please an abusive partner?' The expert can then honestly answer 'yes', keeping their reputation intact.

Hopefully JM can tie them down to specifics and make them answer questions about JA rather than abused women in general.

The only reason she doesn't want to admit that she hurt the finger while killing TA is that it is the only externally visible injury she has to claim that he inflicted on her while "physically abusing" her. She made the lie. Funny how on cross, she forgot and admitted that she did incur the injury while killing him. Notice how the DA didn't even try to fix that blunder?

yeah well i'm tired of hearing that one too. no offense to you, of course. i don't think the fact that she could get the DP makes it ok for him to pull tricks like he did yesterday with that edited tape, for instance. i'm still appalled that the judge allowed that.

I'm tired of Nurmi asking very prejudicial leading questions which is nothing more than him saying this is the answer you need to give for this question and him interjecting his own inflammatory comments about TA's sex life as a dig and with NO other purpose than to influence the juror's opinions. Yes, the judge can sustain the objections but what's the point when it doesn't stop his behaviors??:furious: As for this judge and the decisions she has made and what she is allowing the DT to submit as evidence is just as pathetic, IMO.:banghead:

The defense team also could have, several years ago, searched for The Gun. It is the main part of her "self defense" claim. They have Jodi (who could give the general location). They have power to hire investigators to search for it.
It could prove, IF found:
A. It was not grandpas gun (huge argument against premeditation)
B. serial # could prove if purchased by Travis or someone close to him who may have given it to him for protection.

It seems they never looked

I don't think Mr Martinez would have Jodi examined by a Psychologist or Domestic Violence Expert (yes, the brief Jail type interview to determine if she is suicidal would be done on intake just to see where to put her)

Does anyone know if the Prosecutor has had her seen?

The reason I don't think they did is, even though she is in their "Jail" system they have to go through her Attorney's to get anywhere near her for anything including asking her a simple question. To have had her examined would take a court order I think. AND the huge risk is they have a renowned Domestic Violence Expert (Therapist, whatever) Interview-Examine her and that person determines she is a victim of DV. Whatever they find and put in a report, that report has to go to the Defense.

That could be a disaster. So they usually work off of whatever the Defense does and counter that simply by questioning that Expert on the stand. They can and do have Experts advising them on what they see and can derive from the Video's. So they are lending their opinions and it helps in cross examining a witness.

I'm going by working off of some cases here I was in. In a typical Defendant / Plaintiff situation a Motion was made to have a person examined by a Neuropsychiatrist. In front of a Judge all kinds of details had to be worked out (nobody was getting along) Down to what the person was allowed to eat and drink before the exam.. Date was settled, Judge signed off.

Day of exam and the exam was stopped as the Attorney's all wanted to be present in the exam to make sure the Doc didn't pull anything funny.. So exam cancelled and back to the Judge, Motion from the other side that they are to be present with their person while that person is tested. Judge said no, only the person and the Doc in the room. Ok back to the exam the next week...it takes a couple hours and Report is generated. And everyone is furious at the results, so the Attorney demands the raw notes. The actual answers his person wrote with her own pencil from which the report was generated (he suspected the Expert changed many answer and made the person appear very much one way)

Back to the judge :) and he brought a Motion to demand all notes etc. Judge ordered in his favor, for the Doctor to include the actual test answer. The Doctor was contacted and he said he shreds them right away (ok, now I smell a rat)

Anyway that was an eye opener and I've never seen so many motions and what you can do and when you can talk to her, and if she can have orange juice and not coffee, and if coffee then wait 3 hours before testing. LOL
OK not kidding.

These things get ugly. I am anxious for the last home stretch of this trial because as I have seen, it ain't over til its over.......

(And a side note.. in the case above, the goal on both sides the entire time was one thing. Keep this case out of the Jury's hands, a Jury is TOO unpredictable. That part I remember. They were fighting like the devil but they both wanted to get this settled out. It was a big dollar case, landmark amount at the time in California and each stood to lose or win big. Moments before they had all the people file into the room to start picking a Jury, it settled out. It settled out when something very Illegal was finally uncovered on the Expert side)

ITA. And she apparently has an incredible memory (when it suits her - and we know darn well she remembers it all, she just plays stupid with JM). She knows exactly where she dumped that gun.
