Just step back and forget everything about this case and assume you're going to visit your ex! boyfriend for a day or so, supposedly to have a nice time with him while you're on vacation, and maybe rekindle your relationship. A physical altercation is presumably the last thing on your mind, never mind actually KILLING him. But then the unspeakable actually happens! After a nice day, out of nowhere, this monster suddenly attacks you (for dropping a camera onto a rug) and is trying to kill you! You run and get a gun that you don't even know is loaded, and it accidentally goes off and you shoot him in the head! But he doesn't drop--like the Terminator, he continues after you and you're forced to stab him with a knife you conveniently find, until he finally stops moving. How would you react?
Don't you run around for minutes totally out of your mind screaming "OMG" a thousand times, in utter disbelief about what's just transpired? You've probably just KILLED your boyfriend with your own two hands! Don't you toss the gun/knife down in disgust, run out of this bloody room, and call 911 (maybe they can still save him!), shaking and whimpering like a baby until the police and ambulance come?
[of course, in the real world and not jodi-bizarro-universe, your boyfriend has dropped after being shot in the head--if you shot him first. it's hard to comment on any of this story because you never know if your starting point is a lie.]
Jodi's story makes no sense. We're supposed to believe that because of those previous instances of undocumented "physical abuse" and their consensual sex life, she responds to this unexpected altercation by both blacking out AND overkilling him, tries to clean the crime scene (bizarre), disposes of the weapons, hides her trail, tells multiple stories to police and media, etc. Never showing ANY hint of regret for killing her friend/lover. After planning a roadtrip that just happens to occur immediately before travis's trip to cancun, changing her hair color, using a weapon of the same caliber as her grandfather's gun, and buying gas in gas cans (in the state you say gas is more expensive) to "save money," yet spending money to rent a car when you own a lexus.
if jodi does not get convicted of premeditated first degree murder, the entire system needs to be reexamined. the casey anthony verdict was shocking enough. this would be just beyond belief. it would just prove that if you can make your lies dense enough, so they can't be easily unwoven, and you find a defense teams that's willing to support and enhance your lies, you can literally get away with murder
