Even if you believed every word she said on the stand today... Does it amount to self-defense? I think not.

I agree. Even her precursor story (the reason she ran into the closet rather than down the hall) wasn't one that ended in violence. So he caught her at the stairs and he freaked her out. Then he explained things and everything was fine.

How does that translate to June 4th and running into the closet instead?

I had no idea, until reading this forum, that premeditation could happen in a split second.

Can anyone give me an example of a true self defense case/scenario?
TIA

I really wish I could remember the name--but it was recently on Discovery ID--I believe "wives with knives"---she was actually beaten and abused--she stabbed her hubby left -- went to neighbors to get help---when they couldn't she went back and administered CPR---until aid came...she was found innocent...

When is Juan cross examining her?

Well you are entitled to your opinion of course but I couldnt disagree more.

However I dont have one dab of pity in my heart for a stone cold killer who ruthlessly murdered Travis just because he wanted her out of his life. My heart is broken for the true victim here that crossed paths with this sociopath and his family who has to endure all of her lies.

I hope she gets death because she deserves no less, imo. God also says we must abide by the laws of man.

Well that has nothing to do with this defendant imo Jodi Arais is not innocent. This case is chocked full of evidence against her.

Juan is going to bring back the truth in that courtroom if Nurmi will ever shut up.

I cant wait. The truth will always prevail.
Do you think he will even have a chance to start cross today?

Something that stood out to me was her now claiming that she didn't mean to shoot Travis, that the gun went off. So now it's an accidental shooting............GMAB.:banghead::banghead:

WELCOME!!

Oh yes, she can remember that it was all Travis' fault but that's all.

There's no way she had time to run to the closet pull up a chair, climb up on it, find a gun, and turn around and shoot Travis in the minute or so between the last shot of a wet Travis in the shower and her dragging him down the hallway with his neck sliced open either.

Oh and somehow while running away from a chasing after her Travis he doesn't catch up with her in the closet while she's dragging the chair over? No doubt they went over her story a few times over the weekend and ended up saying 'Look just say you forgot Jodi, your ability to lie convincingly about this is not up to it .. just say you got the gun from the closet and you forgot the rest OK?'

Sheesh.

I remember Flores testifying that the closet was untouched, perfect order. Guess Jodi forgot she locked the door behind her so no one was in his closet picking up after her and if she was full of blood she was not in there afterwards either. jmo

She doesn't remember much of anything at all, but she knows he is dead when she leaves.

Did I see little balls of salty water come from her eyes and drip down her cheeks a couple of times?

Yes.

Did I see her 'cry' - as in a welling up of emotion so strong that one cries?

Nope, didn't see that.

Only possible 'feeling' that could be inducing her 'tears' imv is her intensely growing fear that this is getting SO far away from her that she's afraid for herself.

More likely, she's faking everything for the sake of the jury. She moves between emotion too fast (imv) for her emotions/tears to be authentic.

She's probably really crying because she is getting close to cross and she is going to lose her control on the message.

i feel that covering up a murder because you are afraid of the consequences might be the truth but not a defense.

Hi, First time poster here. I am a carryover from the old Hinky Meter (Casey Anthony Trial).
When defense was showing a photo of the ceiling, after the live pictures of Travis, Jodi stated she did not take that picture. It was the exact time of the stabbings that she says she cannot remember. Can't remember stabbing, but can remember not taking the photo.

:greetings:

:welcome: :wagon:

I loved The Hinky Meter too!

I wonder who the gent is sitting with the defence team today. PTSD expert?

Wondered that too, that gentleman was the defense computer/photography expert who has already testified... :waitasec:

:furious:

2 different guns...one that killed came from grandparents then when she got home and was headed out of town on that "suicide" mission (lie ) she had bought one...

How long did she have the rental? How could her newly purchased gun have been found in the rental??

When is Juan cross examining her?

sometime in the year 2013 (kind of kidding)

I personally hope he gets to start tomorrow.. but who knows how much deeper Nurmi is going to take us in the bevy of lies

ITA--there is more behind that text than she told....much much more

Maybe he was finally getting fed up to his ears with her constant unwanted stalking/harassment/vandalism done to both him, as well as those he was dating. Also, he was sick of her B & E of his house & hacking into one too many of his online accounts. And she (JA) was harassing the hell outta him about him not only going on a vacation to Cancun w/o her, but the fact that another female was going instead. I bet it was so annoying for TA and when he wasn't having it and he was not caving in and letting JA tag along, she was going to be damned if he was going to do that to her so she flipped her lid & made sure that it (him going on vacation) didn't happen.

Personally speaking, (as I can only speak for myself of course), I follow the dictates of Jesus Christ, although am not a Christian.:waitasec: His pattern in otherwords, is perfect.
Therefore, I would never have been on this jury even though I live in Phoenix.

Reason?

I don't believe in the Death Penalty. :twocents:

I do believe when there is any smidgeon of doubt, give the other the benefit of that doubt. Revenge does not bring back anyone's dead loved ones.

And in our country, we've seen dozens, (how many now) since DNA proven to have been murdered at the hands of the executioner, when they were actually innocent all along.

Not that Jodi is innocent of course, she is admitting to having done this horrific crime.

Yet, I find pity in my heart for her.

Imagine that!!!!!:jail:

I admire this about you Leomoon... I admire this compassion in any person. I wish I was that evolved.

Because of my own childhood traumas I feel a tremendous amount of vengeance at certain times, I wish I didn't. It does not make me feel good or in control. I am working on it.

I appreciate your opinions, having posted with you in several forums, and considering you a friend outside of Websleuths.

Many here , including myself, are like open wounds today. We have invested much time and emotion in wanting justice for the true victim, Travis, and his loved ones.

She doesn't remember much of anything at all, but she knows he is dead when she leaves.

Thats what i was thinking...how did she even know he was dead if all she can remember is an accidental gunshot?

That wasn't the murder weapon, it was the new gun that Jodi bought after the murder when she was going to kill herself.

Thanks!

Seems she did not need it, the jury can take care of that!
